@PlasticRobot So if I start the anime from this point, I'll at least skip a few seasons of the story before then?

Could you explain how they are connected despite the fact that this is an adaptation of a manga reboot?

its a sequel, NOT a reboot.

@RobertBobert

The reboot is still the same manga series as the original in both name and canonicity.

Various one-shots released before 2011 were compiled into volume thirty-seven, and the numeration for the series has continued from there as the publication has gone on. While retcons are had, (as they are even in the earlier volumes) the plot is built off of the characters, lore, and story established in the 1979 to 1987 run of the manga.

And should I watch old shows to start this?

You'll want to check out the 1983 anime and its sequel to get the full picture. Technically, this new series is based on the first major story arc of the 2011 revival of the Kinnikuman manga, but that too is still tied to the original run that accounts for volumes one through thirty-six of the currently eighty-four available.

So, this is essentially a kayfebe fiction about wrestling with the participation of all kinds of aliens? And should I watch old shows to start this?
