Shinkai Makoto's New Movie 'Kotonoha no Niwa' Announced [Update Feb 21]

According to the official website, Shinkai Makoto's new anime movie "Kotonoha no Niwa" was announced to be premiered within the first half of the year 2013. Shinkai said it will be his first 恋 (love) story. He said, "There had not been the concept of 恋愛 (romance) before the modern period in the language of Japanese. 恋 (love) had been written as 孤悲 (lone sorrow) since 8th century. Although the story of this movie takes place in current Japan, I'd like to describe such an ancient emotion of lone sorrow."

Yes, a 27 year old woman and a 15 year old boy. Bear in mind that the PV does not indicate (at least not clearly) that their relationship is one of romantic love though.

Foot fetish or romantic love, should their age difference even matter? Sure, "shota" does bother me but 15 is no longer that young an age to be categorized as such, if it ever does come down to them having a sexual relationship.

Plot looks God awful, visuals look nice. Shocker, right? In terms of visuals, it's hard to tell if this will look any better than Children Who etc., but there's definitely more rain porn. So that's something.

More Shinkai? I'm in.

Admittedly after watching Children Who Chase Long Titles and finding it a bit disappointing and way too Ghibli for my liking, it still had good parts and was just as damn pretty to look at as his other works.

Hell, this new film could be absolutely terrible for all I care as long as I get more pretty clouds.
