- How did you deduct all of this?
- I knew about everything before getting on the plain.

Who needs deduction when you just "know" everything.

idk about this one, there's something off about the whole thing

Maybe it's the ML's VA, it seems like ML plays the straightman role but it's like the VA cba to put any emotion lol or maybe that's the direction he was told.

Or it could be because the comedy feels like it's holding back a bit. Maybe if it went all out on the comedy it could actually be really good, some of the lines were pretty good as is.

As for the main pairing, okayish so far. I like the FL but it does seem to be one of those ML is coerced into sticking with FL types of stories which is eh

Hmmm ok, that was quite entertaining but that's all so far for me, the plane case had some good looking fight scenes but the whole cyborg/powers thing was meh IMO, same for the drug thing during the school festival... the whole romance ambiance is good though xD I like the main girl but I wonder how it will be now that she's dead, the main guy is really in middle school? I swear he looks like he's 25

ikr he looks a lot older than he actually is lol

Somehow I thought this was a detective mystery anime given the name but I guess this falls more in line with one of those magic or sci-fi mystery shows and while I like them, they've never been the greatest thing for me. I still wait for the day we will get something similar to Tantei Gakuen Q, the closest we got was last season's Yukoku no Moriarty which while great, takes a different perspective.

For the episode itself, I didn't particularly like it, felt rather bland and uninteresting to me. The character dynamic isn't compelling enough to be engaging and the way the case was 'solved' felt rather pretentious.

The art is very nice and I like Siesta's character design but that's about it.
I'll try a couple more episodes to see if it can hook me but I'm not particularly optimistic about that.

Oh shit another double length premiere.

The first part of the episode on the plane was dope, especially the unexpected sakuga that they flexed during the action sequences. The culture festival stuff was ok I guess. Kind of a mixed bag for this first episode, hopefully it gets better.

Also I just noticed the male MC's VA is a rookie, maybe that explains why some of his voice acting in the episode didn't seem all that good. Like some lines that felt like they should have been delivered with more emotion felt dull and lifeless instead. I'm sure he'll improve over time.

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Ngl didn't like this one bit. It was too random. The ost didn't fit in many places, and they're more or less begging for some suspension of disbelief with the MC's nonchalant reaction towards a plane hijack and a whole ass ghoul dude like it's everyday life for him, EVEN trying to crack jokes and shit. Also the comedy was just off, none of the jokes landed for me. I'll give this two more episodes to see if I'm gonna drop. The plane fight had some good animation but otherwise weak ep.
This anime shit is addictive

Hella great 47mins special episode, Action and Romance at the same time. \

Pretty generic character design is looking good and fit to their personalities. Well Siesta pretty similar and looks like Origami of Date a Live.

I'm only halfway through the episodes currently but I'm so confused by the ages the characters are supposed to be? Kimi keeps saying he's in middle school and I googled his character and it looks like he's 18 in the light novel. Why would they alter his age so much? I feel like it makes this way weirder which I'm not a fan of.

This is one of the Summer anime I've been looking forward to most but that was just so underwhelming - nothing really happened to get me interested and the tone of the anime felt really off... like it was trying for something quirky and exciting but totally missing the target (think In/Spectre).

As for Siesta & Kimi - they had zero chemistry as a duo. It was obvious that their dialogue was supposed to have this witty back and forth feel but it just came across as boring. In fact, both of the characters felt really dull. I'm really struggling to think of any positives for this ep if I'm honest.

Adapted from light novel? That makes sense, such a trashy writing.

Like the author of this knows what ingredients a detective title needs and they are here...but the focus is on the talentless male MC looser with no friends who gets some pandering from "supposedly" cute and overpowered chick (I find her quite annoying instead of cute.). Also I "admire" how the detective work happens offscreen and the investigator figures out everything with practically no information. Yes, there are detective titles like this but at least they retroactively explain the process and give info how the detective could reach such conclusions (for example Sherlock Holmes identifying newspapers by their fonts or tobacco bands by their smell). No time for such "boring" things here, lets show some legs.

So far the show is in the isiekai paradigm - yes with such setting we could have a genuinely interesting story but the author can't be bothered to write shuch because he/she is too focused on the power fantasy aspects.

PS
The art and the technical aspects of the animation were fine tho.

OK start I guess, some pros and cons

The animation was perfect. Siesta's character design is gorgeous and the fight scene on the airplane was superb animation.

The story, on the other hand, I didn't find all that good. The show kept making it look like Siesta is five steps ahead of everybody, but that theme appears to be somewhat inconsistent throughout the episode. The mystery solving part from both cases wasn't all the interesting either.

The biggest problem for me is that the Kimi is such a boring MC. He doesn't have to be a likable character, but I'd hope his character gets at least semi-interesting, like Sakuta from AoButa or Hachiman from OreGairu.

Interesting twist to end the episode. Definitely will continue to watch.

Awesome episode! Not as good as vanitas no carte ep 1 but pretty close
The music was great
My one complaint is that the ep didn’t really feel put together
I mean it didn’t feel like a final product
There were a few parts of the episode where no music was playing and everything was silent
Those transition scenes felt weird to me
But I loved the premise, the fight scenes, the character designs, etc

I am really not in the mood to watch anime with a romance element as of now but I already started it without knowing so...

Anyways, it was a good first episode. I have one complaint though. I don't know if it's just me, or does Kimihiko's voice sound so... lifeless/emotionless? Since the first episode had a lot of dialogues, I can't help but be quite bothered by the way he speaks in a monotonic voice most of the time. But if that's the way he speaks in the future episodes, I guess I'll try to get used to it.

Other than that, I like it so far. I'll continue watching this. It's a promising first episode and I would like to see more about what's going to happen.

Ugh, a little bit too chaotic for my taste. Even if there were 45+ minutes, I didn't understand at all what happened there. It looked like an unfortunate mixture of many genres and I can't say right now what I've actually liked about the episode. But I shall wait for the next one in order to decide if I'll drop it or not.

FINALLY. The LN adaptation we’ve been waiting on for years. Firstly, I’m loving this new trend of first episodes having hour long run times. Tanmoshi and Bokutachi no remake did very well with that. They both flowed together really nicely. Art and animation was amazing as we’d expected off the trailer. And I love siesta and kimi’s chemistry.

Don’t know how people are giving it low scores off one episode, but MAL should really not even show scores until a show is at least halfway done.

Ah yes, the middle schoolers that look and sound like adults. Just like how it is in live action movies. That aside, this looks promising. It isn’t too original, the dectective work is kinda ass-pully, and they do much much sexualizing Siesta, but the action looked good and the premise is interesting.

Not bad for a premiere episode, the interactions between the two in particular seemed lively and fun to keep up with.

Super Detective teasing is of another level xD but honestly I just can't seem her being the older one out of the two. How the heck is Kimi a middle schooler? NGL, I was expecting a Chunchunmaru reference or something of the sort during that steamy scene lmao.

Not quite sold on the whole detective part and whatnot but here's to hoping for more intriguing cases. 7 Detective tools and the Artificially Modified humans, some supernatural elements like these are welcome, I'm not sure about the flying boots/shoes though lol.

Also, it's a real pity we didn't get to see the Detective in a maid outfit with cat ears but the wedding dress wasn't half-bad so I'll take it.

"Dead", well. There's surely more to this and here's to hoping we'll get that next episode.

Fine Op and Studio ENGI did a pretty good job with the animation quality side of things and here's to hoping they'll be keep it up.

this is godly awful. it feels like a duplicate of kyoko suiri with a lot of meaningless conversations between the main characters. the author probably thinks the tsukkomi he/she wrote is hilarious. however, there's not much of inference, or i should say more like an ass pulling as it eventually turns out to be a fantastic battle which is worse in this case. this LN can be sold thanks to the artist cuz the original art style is the only good thing worth mentioning.

now i realize why popular vtubers have been hired to advertise this anime. their simps be like "this anime is actually good cuz my favorite vtubers watch and like it. haters gonna hate."

Nah, he doesn't look like 25, he looks like 18. Its funny cuz he's really 14 during the entire episode but he's 18 after the timeskip.

Well, I had high hopes for this anime to come out, and I was certainly right to, because this first episode was so good. I appreciate he didn't have a loud or obnoxious reactions but it had more to do with his delivery at times. Example would be around 43:50-44:10 (where he slams the table while talking to Siesta).

That was fun... and weird. Just like the multiple key visuals we had seen from this show haha.

Siesta is a name I haven't heard in a while. It would have been funny if she had been voiced by Yui Horie xD. I really liked Siesta and her dynamic with the MC was quite fun. That said, is she really dead? Come on, it's only the first episode, you can't kill the lead girl or at least I hope so.

Engi really outdid themselves with that fight animation, that was pretty awesome.

Is Android the correct translation? (seen this translation problem before in Dragon Ball Z). The school part of the episode seemed more grounded than the airline part when it was revealed it was about drugs.

The thing that ties Siesta's hair looks like Roman numeral XII = 12? Does that have any significance ?
