My ratings are very subjective, but I do take in objective aspects when rating.
There are 4 main factors I take into account when scoring a show.
Character - This category includes, but is not limited to; characters, animation, art style, character design, and character development. The characters are the main focal point of the show, and they are also the main focus of rating criteria. If there's no good characters, the show isn't good. That being said, a show can still be great with mediocre characters.
Plot/Ideas - This affects my grading the least, but for a show to be a masterpiece, it has to have a somewhat unique and interesting concept. A good concept will draw the viewer in, and will get them hooked. However, there are exceptions with anime such as Oregairu, and Toradora.
Execution - Correct execution of concepts allow for the viewer to stay hooked throughout the series. As well, how the plot is executed is one of the most critical points when enjoying a show. Based on how a plot is, it can determine the rewatch value of a show.
Enjoyment - How much I enjoyed the show. Obviously, a pretty crucial criteria. With no enjoyment, the show just isn't good to me. This is usually the final factor in determining the score of an anime. This category is pretty vague, and can include several sub categories like sound track, openings, endings, and humour.
[10] Perfection - The absolutely best of the best, that will have its extremely memorable moments. I'll be insanely attached to a 10/10 show, and it will include some remarkable characters. Most importantly, my enjoyment levels will skyrocket through the roof when experiencing a perfect show.
[9] Exemplary - A show that may have a few errors, but none fatal to the show to obscure it's greatness. Out of every category, this score has the most variety within it. There are extremely high 9's, the middle of the pack, and the ones that barely pass as exemplary. Incredible characters or story will definitely be present in such animes.
[8] Excellent - A thoroughly enjoyable show that will have flaws, but don't heavily attribute to the score of the anime. There's a lot of positive aspects, and I'll have a blast watching it. An 8/10 will usually include an amazing character, or will have a great plotline
[7] Good - This is essentially my baseline for any anime I grade. It will include an overall enjoyable experience, but with at least 1 clear error setting it back from being a great show. Typically there will be a character that I really appreciated being there, and could be factor that boosts the show.
[6] Decent - Not bad enough to hate, not entertaining enough to love. It wont be the be the best experience, but it's far from the worst. A 6/10 series will definitely have it's set backs. I would never dare to recommend anybody an anime from this score though.
[5] Mediocrity - Definitely comes with it's far share of vital flaws, however I did enjoy some parts of it. Here, like and dislike are evenly balanced; I didn't love it, but I didn't entirely hate it. For the most part it's boring, but not enough for it to be run over by a car just yet.
[4] Subpar - Just plain bad. There are critical problems throughout the entire series, that'll have me asking "why?". I'm going to need a decent break after watching something atrocious as this. It's flat out boring, however it was not entirely unwatchable.
[3] Bad - There might be a few good scenes, but for the most part it's really bad. The number of caveats will diminish the shows greatness. I will bash on it without a second thought, and tear it down to the ground. Extraordinarily unentertaining with garbage characters.
[2] Abysmal - I will never watch again. Totally regretful of my decision to completely finish a show I score a 2. These are reserved for anime that made me jump into a dumpster fire in total disgust, and forced me to wonder why the hell I completed this show.
[1] Pathetic - Totally unwatchable. Garbage, burn it in a fire. Absolute complete and total trash. These are not titles for enjoying, but instead for running away from in complete terror. There might never be a show I rate a 1, as I will drop the show, before I am able to finish it.
