Well, i'm just now getting into the Fate franchise, so HF III getting delayed is kind of a good thing to me right now.
Means i might have a chance to catch up before it releases so that i can hopefully watch it in theaters once it comes out.

I expect that list to grow since Japan has now declared "State of Emergency". I don't know how it works in Japan but if it's going to be like here in Canada, it means they're going to start issuing a mandatory close down of all non-essential businesses. In this case, anime studios are not essential so they might be forced to close down.

I think most animators can work from home. I remember seeing a video about a new employee in the anime industry and she said one of the advantages is that showing up to work isn't obligatory or something like that as long as you get the job done

Sad to see delays but completely understandable. I've got plenty in the backlog anyway.

nah just some, japan still uses fax machine last time i check lol

In amid of this situation some studios will have to make an 10 years technologic jump or else their entire production will stop.
Digital outsourcing would be a 'lifesaver' right now but i'm afraid that most of studios don't have the proper means and setting for that...

Will this affect anime that have already started airing as well? I mean, i'd actually prefer that then risk the lives of the voice actors and other staff, but i just want to make sure, since i was planning to start watching some anime seasonally and if they get delayed i'd rather wait and watch something else in the meantime.

Kaguya-sama S2 and Shokugeki no Souma S5 are unlikely to meet a delay, imo. Countdowns have started already in their respective official twitter accounts so that’s a sign that the Production is competed and in good hands as we speak, I imagine.

Edit: Here’s to hoping these will be the last of the delays...

I was actually expecting this list to be much longer. I'm upset that the majority of these were things I was actually interested in, but I have plenty of stuff to watch while I wait and it'd be pretty selfish of me to hold some kind of grudge over this.

Fuuuck. Not heaven’s feel... I haven’t seen anything else, although I feel for those fans. Similarly, I heard that the next WSJ release is delayed.

That sucks. These delays are a shame. Oh well.

It is just delayed for a week and the next issue will be double issue (originally two separate issues put together). It is because an editor working in the publishing company got coronavirus.

I unfortunately expect this list to get longer, but hopefully it won't impact too many shows, upcoming or currently airing.

Speaking of currently airing shows, are the VAs of such shows (especially long runners) able to record their lines from home so they don't have to be physically present in a recording studio?
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

double issue doesn't mean there will be 2 separate issue put together. it's just one issue count as 2 weeks.

China was so afraid of the Japanese anime and manga industry that it had to release a bio weapon. LOL

I was so looking forward to the Violet Evergarden movie but I'm not gonna keep my hopes up either with other animes since most of the summer 2020 animes would surely be cancelled ....

Better safe than sorry, I'd rather not be able to watch seasonals as often as I want to rather than risk the staff that work hard to give me them. It sucks that I have to wait longer for Oregairu, but waiting is better than hearing of the director dying/getting hospitalized just so I could get more of the Service Club.

I'm curious what'll happen halfway through this season. I know at least one show had most of it's episodes done before it even started airing save for like 2 at the end (I think it was Yesterday wo Utatte), but what happens to the shows that aren't that ahead? Are we gonna see midseason delays, or maybe quality dips? Anime this season might actually get hit really hard by this, it might have been better if this season was straight up delayed instead of risking all these high potential shows and having the staff deal with complications midseason. A delayed show is better than one that gets interrupted halfway through.

Ouch. I was really looking forward to Heaven's Feel III. Hopefully this won't delay the Blu-Ray release (although I doubt it...).

I have to say, it's surprising that the anime industry would be troubled by COVID-19. In the end, it's just drawing and shading, it's definitely a job that can be done home.
Everything changes. Even the happy and funny things eventually disappear. How can I still enjoy this place then?

Damm you Corona

First it was Re: Zero and now SAO as well

Well hopefully Kaguya won't be affected.

Still the safety of the staff and the seiyuu's are far more important
A little delay won't kill anyone after all

Welp, 3 out of 4 of my highly anticipated anime has now been delayed. I'm obviously not mad and I hope all the people involved in the production stays safe. Now let's see if Kaguya-sama is going to survive this and actually air this season.

Do you know what I don't get. Why, why especially in case of movies: why they just don't open an official virtual cinema in the internet, where they the movies offering would like their counterpart (illegally) sites? Opposite to TV-anime series are movies completely done (animation, voicing, etc.), where then I wouldn't see the problem for movies at least. I mean the cinemas where now under lock down are, could itself together an virtual cinema platform create - so could be then further (well, maybe not fully like before but somewhat...) financially supported, the cinemas and studios.
