This is heartbreaking, he was always one of my favorite youtuber and had the best reactions on youtube, he was truly a great guy.
I have no words... Last time I cried was when my grandfather died, 5 years ago...

Never heard of him, but based on what I just read about him on Wikipedia, he had some negative thoughts for some time.

I never really watched his stream/youtube but he did seem like a genuinely nice guy. It sucks so much that he never got the help he needed to not come to this conclusion. Even more so since it was well known is mental health had been declining in the last few months :(

The guy has had multiple breakdowns and many seemed to play it off for laughs and moved on to continue watching his silly videos. Crazy how nothing was able to be done despite the obvious and increasingly serious signs.

I can see you

No one could help him because he kept refusing the help. At the point he was, him rejecting help should not stop the treatment. Lives are lost because of negligence and he was just another name on that long, long list.

My condolences to his family who, as I understand, now have to deal with a second suicide (his brother in 2010, apparently).

Knowing little about Etika’s case since he beat an officer, the SWAT entering his apartment, his mental illness. Sounds to me like he committed suicide.

He has tweeted multiple times about wanting to commit suicide, and he uploaded a video which was pretty much a suicide letter. I knew this was coming, it kinda sucks. I wasn't a fan of his stuff but I know people who were.

Nobody believed he would do it either due to the large number of public mental breakdowns he had and he used some of them for attention. However, he should've stayed in the mental ward after he punched that cop though.

That sucks, he had some funny reaction videos.... I feel like a lot of the time we use humor too often to cover up whats really wrong inside and play it off...

I just wish we knew what happened a few months ago, seems that's when his downfall started. Note he never gives any reason.

May he rest in peace after all.

I'm pretty shocked of this. I didn't follow him actively but what I watched of his content and his humor I enjoyed a lot and never would have thought this would be his end.

I wish best to his family and other close people. Rip

I never really enjoyed reaction videos, but Etika's stuff has always been humorous and genuine. I remember looping his reaction to Goblin Slayer's first episode when I was feeling down due to some work complications. Impossible to not smile through the whole thing.

The hard truth is, his state of mind during these past weeks have been hinting towards this very moment. Sucks that plenty of his fans on Twitch was making fun of his condition. I hope they fully realize that their actions have cost them their idol.

Rest in peace, Etika.

I watch his final livestream video, and basically it was a good bye video, he even said he won't know how attack on titan will end, which was surreal for me, because in your last moment to remember a anime, never got the impression that attack on titan was a really close series to him.

But that's far from the point, mental illness should be taken seriously and all those people that are still making fun of him when he is dead, is truly a scum, the lowest of the low.

I watched his livestream, and the way he ends the video:

"two wrongs don't make a right, but....you know."

Makes my heart break.

He fully acknowledges what he was doing was not going to fix his problems, especially to those around him he pushed away. He didn't want others entangled in his own problems and went down this rabbit hole for the past few months all by himself. He knew he was mentally ill, he even says so in the video, but he couldn't see a way out...
My thoughts and prayers are with him and his friends and family, RIP

i read some of his outburst/mental breakdown on fandom.com earlier and damn why his friends and family did not admit him to a mental hospital for much longer because the dude is clearly going violent like even brawling with the police

this is family negligence imo

I only learned about Etika when he was featured on PewNews before. Even Felix has shown concern for the guy and suggested him too to get help. Unfortunately, he got consumed by his own demons. Really a tragic end.

Rest easy now, man.

I didn't watch his vids nor streams, but I did know that somebody like him existed and was active mostly for his reaction videos posted on YouTube and forum being a streamer, though I dunno what types of games he liked to stream.

I heard about hi for the first time while browsing some clips related to JoJo franchise on YouTube. Many JoJo fans seemed to enjoy his reaction vids. I am not a fan of this type of videos and I didn't watch a lot of his reactions. But from all his videos I managed to see, however there were only few of them, he seemed like a cool and positive guy that you would easily befriend with.

It's sad that he died, especially when - from what I read several minutes ago - he suffered from a mental illness and it was quite visible in his previous videos as well and the last one was definitely a goodbye letter. Bear in mind I haven't seen those vids apart from his last video, therefore I base my thoughts on what his fans wrote on the Internet.

It's a shame that another human decided to end his life by committing suicide. What's even more trwgic is that his kind of behaviour happens more and more often in our modern world.

ive been very upset about this news since hearing about it yesterday

his apology video was probably the realest most close to home thing ive ever seen. i dont know what could have even been done about his situation but its just horrible either way, and contrary to what he said and felt a lot of people are going to miss him, and many wont forget about this or the impact he had

Never liked reaction videos. I think they're stupid, so it's not a surprise I've never heard of the guy.

This generation hates on religion, but it gives some people dealing with depression a way of coping with issues.

While it may it's necisarilly the case because it can be shakey ground or actually make someone feel worse. Why you see lower suicides in some religions is because the social support from being in a church as one factor. That can be done in means other than just religion.

Yeah, social support is great, but so is the spirituality. It gives people meaning beyond material things. Belief in a higher power grounds some people.

Yeah, I agree, but it depends on the religion in it's modern day too. Christianity isn't nearly as bad as it used to be for example.

Mental illness is no joke...

I saw his final video where he asks for an apology as he is literally walking to go kill himself.

He is actually aware that he is mentally ill, and yet he shows no interest in getting help, he has accepted his fate and is on a literal death march.

It’s very sad, as a human you have to be at rock bottom to even contemplate suicide...and then even lower to actually go through with it.

It’s just so sad.
