Ooh another mission. This time, it involve escorting some fairy weapon on the train across the lands.

First half was boring. Otherwise, I guess seeing more of Marlya's past is important for the overall tone of the story. Action is alright but I wish they changed the style of the OST as it sounds repetitive now.

Despite the peace the rivalries between the dukes sure is causing tension within the empire. Looks like the fairy weapons really do come in all forms. If anything the escort mission sure turned out to be more action packed than they expected. The insight into Marlya's childhood was pretty insightful. To think that the enemy leader was one of the seven knights though. Despite the spirited defence the enemy relying on the brute strength of the colonel really scattered them. Overall a decent ep and a step up from the previous arc with some solid action and development mixed in. Im curious whether this defeat will act as the trigger that will make both Free and Marlya realise that they need to improve their skills if they want to be effective at their role.

Gotta to see a bit of Marlya's past.

So the duke wanted to have a fairy weapon of his own.

Took 9 episodes to show some real scum. Trying too hard here. The fights could have used more action, but there were... one animation/angle highlight.

I thought this was a solid episode. Okay at best, sure, but still solid. There isn't much to say about this episode because all of them follow essentially the same format, with good soundtracks and mediocre action. I enjoyed the hopelessness and fast-paced action this time around, although I feel like they should have anticipated an attack on such a famous and sought after item. The security should have been better too. It was nice to see something of legitimate consequence happen too, in Ozz dying.

Damn, that was one hell of a beating that Dorothea took. D=

The Colonel is a force to be reckoned with. Not only is he one of the seven knights that uses a fairy, but he was able to easily beat Ozz's fairy as well. The two had some good animated clashes throughout the fight, but sadly, no one of Dorothea could handle the Colonel brute strength and his small group firing away from the high ground.

The consequences of the fight were laid bare in the post-credits scene. While Free and Marlya took minor damage, Ozz sadly lost his life in front of them. Going by next week's preview, Marlya is going to blame herself and her curse from Ozz's death. Poor girl... =(

This was one of the better episodes I have to say. Hopefully the next episode will be as good as this one. =)

Dorothea was utterly defeated this time, one of their members even died. I guess it was to show how strong that knight was, but it was still weird to see Free being defeated without being able to do anything like that. It's interesting that besides the black tomes, there are also the seven fairy weapons and knights to worry about though. And it seems Ozz's death is going to take its toll on Mariya.

Great episode, discovering a new enemy + some information about the 7 fairy weapons was interesting.

I guess Dorothea will be accused of lacking their duty to deliver the weapon, which might used to create attacks so that the victims accuse them for losing it.

Well then...got some death going with a character that actually holds some worth. Given the little flashback, this is gonna traumatize Marlya. I just wish they'd give this chick proper training already because she randomly gets a Fairy and still can't seem to use it properly. Then again, the series never really explained how fairies and their users work in the first place. Yet another insert song...seems like there's going to be one for every major fight scene now. Don't get me wrong, the songs are good but as a person already said in the thread, it's getting repetitive. I guess our music composer isn't interested in actually composing anything but letting a music group insert an entire new album into the show or something. P.A. Works...is this going to be another miss from you?
Don't believe the hype.

Yeah it was aight that they introduced the fairy weapons. Seems that Nein is one of the 7 knights and Free has a fairy weapon too in his name despite not being a knight. Nein seems to be pretty strong from the lil bits we get in terms of info on her. And Free got his tail whipped this episode. They all did. I enjoyed the episode.

That Beevee guy is a beast, the way he suppressed Free was impressive, Free sucks! RIP Ozz, even though we hardly knew you and your development as a character was never done. Instead we got a Marlya backstory, for what though? Shouldn't they've done Ozz's backstory instead?

Finally the series is finding its footing again! At least, once they stop acknowledging the unfocused, convoluted Artificial Fairies arc and got the plotline going again. I'm surprised the Emperor doesn't immediately suspect Ray Dawn and Hybranz of assassinating him given that the other 3 dukes were killed in rebellions started only because they were suspected of rebellion. The Fairy Weapons(or, more appropriately named anti-fairy weapons) are an interesting mechanic introduced in this episode, though, and once the second half of the episode got going, it was like an entire new episode of the first arc was starting, starting with a flashback then leading straight into action interwoven with exposition, the sole reason I love this show in the first place.

I was so happy when we finally got to see one of the main characters actually do something again, because as Marlya HERSELF stated in the first scene, she didn't even do anything the entire last arc. Marlya's use of the hunting rifle was explained in the flashback, and it showed how basically everyone who tries to help her dies tragically and painfully. That pattern was repeated when Ozz was killed for saving her life. She's terrified that Free will also be killed for saving her.

So all this development for Marlya is great. But what about Free? Isn't he supposed to be the second main character? The Fairy Tome arc showed very little development for him, aside from reestablishing his connection with Wolfran in episode 2. No expansion on the fairy that mauled his or its user in the flashback, no meeting up again with Wolfran(although he might next episode) and no meaningful dialogue aside from "i'm such a badass"(which truthfully he is but let's further that, huh?)

They really stood no chance at the battle, huh. And it was obvious that it would happen from the moment they boarded the train, and Hybranz knew it would happen as he consorted with Beevee beforehand. But...like...why? Why go through that trouble? He is literally given the fairy weapon by the Emperor, why is he hiring an ex-rebel to steal it from himself? I really hope this arc is going somewhere. Also, have they entirely forgotten about the black fairy tome?

Did Marlya's adoptive parents get a backstory? Or the hunter? Nope. I have a feeling that Ozz's lack of backstory was intentional as a parallel.

With Wolfram meeting both Diese and Ray Dawn, and Diese clearly knowing that attack was coming, perhaps Ray Dawn and Diese are colluding in order to start a war.

I was also a bit disappointed previous episode, as I thought that would be the episode where shit is gonna go down, and nothing really exciting happened, but this episode was good, things started happening again.

I think considering how important the fairy weapon is, they were counting on Nein Auler the commander of Dorothea also be in the escorting team, getting her would have been a great catch, but she (and the prime minister) was quite suspicious of Schwarz Diese from the start so she didn't go (although they cannot do much without evidence, like they cannot order a whole army to protect the fairy weapon just because they are suspicious of the duke, as he currently is a "hero").
About the relic, there wouldn't be much use for him to have it himself, as he is only pulling the strings, he doesn't want to fight personally, also he doesn't want to show his true colours, he cannot just give it to his underground organization, because a famous relic cannot just randomly go missing.
So I think it was a good plan, possibly eliminating the Dorothea chief and acquiring one more fairy weapon for his underground organization.

Damn have these episodes started to get better or have my expectations just completely dropped cause I'm starting to like this. That was a pretty brutal defeat for Dorothea and rip Ozz. Of course Marlya will blame it on her "cursed child" thing which at this point still feels like a total nonsense plot point, but whatever.

So wait, Kal-o is Ray Dawn? So many names and places, I'm so confused
We got a little more backstory into Marlya's past this episode. "A cursed child" I feel so bad for her. There is a glimmer of happiness to come for her though, I really hope her and Free end up together! The ship is real!
There has been a serious lack of focus on Wolfran recently, he was set up as ultimate bad guy in the first couple episodes and has fallen off the grid in recent weeks.
Some more interesting lore development this episode as well, with the revelation that director Nein was one of the seven knights! With 4 of the weapons missing I was really excited to see some fights that involved the knights. Beevee is so badass! The skill gap between Dorethea soldiers and a former knight is pretty large. This episode had some of the best action sequences so far.
Interesting that the fairy weapons are the direct counter to fairies themselves, the battle system is finally falling into place after nine episodes.
The pacing of this show is extremely slow, I'm surprised it has been renewed for a second season.
Decent episode.

Oh, that's...actually really clever, as the authorities already were suspicious of Hybranz when he requested a Fairy Weapon, and the other 3 dukes had only started rebellions because they were suspected of them. I like how this show shows rather than tells.

So the political showdown now is between the Seven Knights' Kal-O and Duke Hybranz. Problem is, one has the Fairy Weapon and the other has not. That problem is handed over to Dorothea.

With such an extremely precious object, it is assuring...until the Colonel, Beevee Liscar (one of the Seven) comes around with his mercenaries attack the train with brute force.

And dammit Marlya's pre-flashback serves no purpose other than to re-emphasize that she brings bad luck to those around her. Fitting for an explanation but bad timing.

More of the same action-music sequences ending with Ozz's sacrifice.

Only question I have is how the political mindset of the Dukes and the PMs will affect the playing field now.

Decent episode, next week, Marlya's backstory of her curse. What does this add into the series, IDK.

Tremendous episode! It was amazing!
I think it was worth going through 8 episodes to see this. It is the best episode of this anime so far.
It was full of action and relevant data, like the 7 knights and the Fairy Weapons.
And a really sad ending 😢. Ozz died saving Marlya like a hero, I sketch a smile at the end. R.I.P. Your fairy was really great.

Hylbranz is a son of a bitch! Many died because of him. Why did he devise all this farce if he already had the Fairy Weapon in his hands? DAMN!. I hope it will rot as quickly as possible.

Eizenkopf just tackled a fricking train...

Oh, so Fairy Weapons are essentially "anti-fairy" weapons. I see...

Well that's a wipe for Dorothea. Beevee beat the crap out of them. I guess is is to send a message to Dorothea. War is coming. That was a pretty good death scene for Ozz. Diese said "It won't be long now." So this ambush was planned. Dorothea's getting bashed into the ground...

Well if Nein Auler was there it would have been different. You do need one of the seven knights to face as equal.

I take it these weapons are supposed to be opposing for the fairies? That knight dude was ripping apart a savage one with what looks like no effort. Free is a way too weak man, every damn time. He's got the big boss look, but no actual bite.
I can't believe they are making someone's death too much of a bigger deal. It was someone who had zero depth or development behind him, just how should we the audience care?

After Hybranz saved Golbarn, Castal Harol, the emperor, gave him a reward, and Hybranz asked for fairy weapon. Dorothea prepared the transportation of the weapon and took it on a train with a bunch of Dorothea’s members guarding it (including Free and Marlya). Marlya remembered when a man named Victor adopted and raised her (after the fire), but he died later due to a sickness. A mercenary group led by Beevee Liscar attacked the train, Dorothea counterattacked, but they couldn’t stop them, ending in Ozz’s death at Liscar’s hands.

As we can notice, Hybranz took advantage of the situation to cause the train incident, but the relation between he and Liscar is still unknown to me, don’t remember they both talking before. The episode had lot of excellent action scenes, especially Liscar vs. Ozz, this incident cost many lives, including Ozz’s one, it was a rude scene.

This episode left me speechless-figuratively not literary! The most enduring question I have from the episode is-was there really a point for anything that happened? Marlya summoned her fairy but it didn't do anything except getting injured and injuring her in the process. Free was just pathetic- I honestly felt sorry for that weapon that ended up looking powerless in Free's hands. It was an overall disappointing episode.

This was one the episodes that felt worth the wait. While I do think it was naive to not have a strong sense of security during this pivotal time and putting all their trust into this Duke, an ambush was something to think worse case scenario on. ESPECIALLY with so much information being leaked here and there, they JUST only "recovered" from finding an insider being responsible for the malfunctions of the artificial fairies. I'm already prepared for this series to unlock more questions than answers, but this episode was worth sitting back and watching the action play out.
