| No amount of outer beauty can make up for such an ugly inside. Kyouko needs a lot of help to deal with all of that bitterness and hatred. My heart goes out Rei even more though. Right when things seemed to be getting better too. |

The cat song was fine last episode, a bit redundant with the explanation about shogi pieces but okay, however the shogi song was insufferable this episode. So annoying Kyouko's chapter really saved this episode for me because of Rei's reaction to her: At some point he seemed to be in love with her. And not in a healthy way. |

| It was cute seeing Nikaidou teach the kids shogi. He's actually a pretty good teacher. Better than I expected, at least. I can't wrap my head around what Kyouko was trying to accomplish. Was she just trying to bring Rei down? She seems like an abhorrent human being, treating Rei like that. I'm glad Rei has positive role models in his life like Araki in his life. |

| Troublemaker has appeared out of nowhere, Rei and Kyouko's relationship is a bit strange, not really hate relation ship but also not one what most siblings have. Bit awkward there when she knew that the new futon didn't smell like Rei |

| Kyouko is a perfectly written character. My God, the complexity, her way of being, her behaviour (thanks to wonderful animation)... everything is so perfectly constructed. Can't find word to describe how stunned I am after that sequence. And how they showed her sensual/sexual body parts/behaviour, it added a new perspective of looking at her. |

| The first part was really heartwarming and I started to admire Nikaidou. Such a passionate guy. Just as when Kiriyama got his inspiration to move forward Kyoko showed up grrr. I seriously adore the animation and the scenes especially when their hair flows in the air. |

| Hm.. Alright.. Shougi seems like a fun game.. Reminds chess a bit, but some moves are different, of course.. Harunobu both wrote and drew that book, huh.. Impressive.. ;P Works like this also help in popularizing sport, I imagine.. Though, also not sure, how much people read books nowadays.. With how you can just use internet.. Well, maybe at least some still do, still can add interest to at least some people.. Where Harunobu takes his energy, you ask, Rei?.. Well.. Maybe shougi is his passion?.. It's meaningful for him to work more and more on Shougi.. Yeah, this game can make your time more enjoyable, as well as bring people together.. I'd also add, really, that it helps training and developing your brain as well.. Well.. Relationships with Kyouko are strained, but could be even worse, I guess.. Not sure, why she proposes to throw upcoming game to Rei.. Maybe just out of not liking him.. Or maybe something else.. Not sure.. |
| The scene with Kyouko was fantastic, is like a Monogatari character just slided into this episode for a moment, hope to see a lot more of her. Nikaido has also been pretty great so far. No hate for either of these two from me. |

| uhhh kyouko is insufferable. even seeing rei's backstory living w his adopted father, she seemed like such a vile, wicked child. and even "grown up" she still seems that way. she was just really creepy and weird this episode. was hoping rei would slam the door in her face and go to bed instead of being such a pushover and letting her inside. i assume that theres gonna be some kind of "redemption" episode where shes shown to be a good person yadda yadda yadda father didnt give her enough attention as a child etc etc etc |

| Oh boy, Kyouko is already my favourite female character from this show. No disrespect to Akari though. She's an amazing villain, with how she came just the day before the match to mess up his mind. Also, the explanation of shogi was pretty good. |
