| Female voice cast members for the Summer 2016 anime Orange, an adaptation of the manga by Ichigo Takano, have been announced at AnimeJapan 2016. Color character designs by animator Nobuteru Yuuki were also revealed on the official website on Friday. Naho Takamiya: Kana Hanazawa (Durarara!!)  Azusa Murasaka: Natsumi Takamori (Another)  Takako Chino: Rika Kinugawa  A promotional video was also unveiled at the announcement stage at AnimeJapan. It was a bit rushed in the end but that was also due to the health issue of Takano Ichigo-sensei (the author). Orange excels in drama; the sci-fi is questionable but it has been explored by the author at the very least (even though it wasn't all too convincing) but if someone wants to find logic in it, they will have to dig deep on the explanations given on Steins;Gate as well. The romance and the school related issues such as sports and cultural events, bullying, etc. are very shoujo-ish (which means you'll have to wear shoujo-goggles to enjoy them) but that shouldn't be an issue since one is expected to see those in a shoujo. Orange may get some hate from certain shippers there's no doubt on that part. Boke Dake on the other hand, had far too many issues as a story itself to even consider it bad just for shipping. I didn't care about shipping yet I found it downright average. Putting the two in one sentence itself is an insult. Also, bear in mind that it can just have 2 chapters per episode and wrap it up in 11 episodes. So, the quality and pacing can remain the same if the anime is faithful to the manga (I wouldn't mind if they somehow squeeze in Haru-iro Astronaut in between though! It was fun.) |

| The character designs are nice, though not as pretty and refined as they are in the manga. No qualms about the casting, but I hope KanaHana voices Naho in the same vein as Akane Tsunemori rather than Shiina Mayuri. |
