It has the potential to be really good and I have a dislike for GT mainly because it´s not from AT. Also in my country we got an atrocious dub for it and I hated the whole concept of turning Goku into a kid and making Pan of all people into a MC.
I hate Elfen Lied with a passion, it´s dumb beyond redemption.
OHH NO they killed my puppy now i must kill my lovers sister so that he loves me FUCK YOU!
Btw Golden Boy is a great series and has some of the funniest scenes I´ve seen in Anime period, but I´ve read the Manga and it somewhat falls off.
Just because a few shows like Steins;Gate and Higurashi were able to successfully go from VN to anime doesn't mean that it isn't very difficult to do. For every Higurashi, there are hordes of garbage.
I can see this point, but pretty much any VN writer would be considered info-dump heavy compared to an anime
But you can tell the review did something right when the people who read it go as far as to raid your other reviews with dislikes, unless the person actually thought all my reviews weren't helpful/reasonable, which I'd doubt. Only on MAL is a 7/10 considered a 3/10. Ratings always stick between 7 and 10, but I like using the whole range of numbers to be more accurate.
Overall, success.
I considered upping the rating to 8 to get less hate clicks, but I chose the former. Some people even seemed to have gotten so butt-hurt they raided all my other reviews.
i'm seriously itching to see someone make a version of the christian bible, except they replace every mention of god, jesus, and the holy spirit with "based god," "based jesus," and "the based holy spirit"
I personally disagree with the notion that watching EoE without watching the TV ending results in missing the whole message of the series, hence my opinion that it can be skipped. But again, acknowledging that not everyone will agree with this opinion is why I described both endings so that people can decide in an unbiased fashion which one they think will suit them, if not decide they'd like to watch both.
But that's why I then proceeded to describe the endings so that the readers of my review can make their own decision on the matter rather than just blindly accepting my suggestion that they skip the TV ending in favor of EoE.
And Idk, maybe it's just me but I didn't like the humor in SG for the most part. Maybe my standards went up after watching Gintama or something. And I didn't like the otaku culture stuff cause it didn't really need it in a sci fi thriller, it's out of place.
Just wanted to say that I disagree that Steins;Gate was mainly about it's characters because most of them were basically stereotypes that didn't really develop. The only one who was both not a stereotype and developed was Okarin (Tu tu ru!). It was mostly about the story, without Okarin, nobody would care about the other characters.
But I agree that time travel stories are hard to pull off, so I gave it some slack in the logic area. Although at some points it seems the author wasn't even trying to make sense of it, which is a shame.
And yeah, Steins;Gate isn't a serious sci fi like GITS that's for sure. That's probably the main reason why I ended up reviewing it, because people thought the sci fi element was realistic or whatever, which is not true.
It's still pretty awesome though.
