Yamashita Tatsurou was born February 4, 1953 in Tokyo, Japan. He is a singer-songwriter, and record producer. A major figure in popular music, Tatsurou is regarded as being one of the worlds most influential musicians, and one of the greatest singers of all time. His song "Christmas Eve" became the standard Japanese Christmas song. It first appeared on his album Melodies in 1983, and was later released as a single In 1986. He is also the husband and producer of Takeuchi Mariya.

One of the best singers of all time, japanese or otherwise. For You is probably one of the greatest funk albums made on the 80s. Too bad the only people who seem to remember him nowadays are Vaporwave "producers".
