| Definitely looking forward to this, hope it separates itself enough from his other films though since as a couple people have already said I'm getting a strong Byousoku 5 Centimeters vibe. Not that I don't like that one, it's one of my favorites and I wouldn't mind if it had a similar tone, just don't want it to practically be a twin of it. |

The story is set one month after a comet that has fallen for the first time in a thousand years in Japan. | Hmmm.... as an avid shinkai fan, of course it is... Thrusters aside, it seems that (I might be wrong) Shinkai uses Crossroad as the source of inspiration. Well I love it, but my hype meter will pierce the heaven if he used Dareka no Manazashi instead of Crossroad, because like some other person here, it'd be better if he moves from his common "lover's romance" to "familial love." But then again, this one's beautiful, and I love it already. Don't disappoint me, Mr. Shinkai >W< |

| I always said this dude was nothing more than a one trick pony and with each new movie he continues to prove my point, with the exception of "children who chase lost voices" (which isn't very good) all his movies are pretty much the exact same thing, a sappy , melodramatic romance with pretty visuals. Was expecting he would do something different this time around but i guess that was asking for too much. Who the hell called this guy the next Miyazaki? everything he's made thus has been pretty mediocre or average at best. |

Kidding aside, I feel both spited by the fact that he is reiterating his past works as well as supporting. If he tries to branch out it may lead to total disaster and alienate his fans and a part of me just loves his hyper-melodrama with sexiest backgrounds in history. |
