After 8 weeks (regular edition only):

42. *19,959 1,711,394 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.13
28. *18,879 1,654,317 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.15
25. *25,068 1,614,232 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.16
32 *29,149 1,714,283 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.17

So after having the slowest start of all, Vol. 17 is now the fastest selling SNK volume, a whooping 100k above it's predecessor and it seems like its sales are up from last week, nice.

After 10 days:

*1. 260,637 629,991 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.3
*2. 278,986 617,235 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.4

Volume 4 is slightly behind volume 3. But according to Z4K that is due to the release of Tokyo Ghoul [anime] which sold 35,970 copies and has possibly slowed the sales of the main series. This seems to be true since in this second week, Vol. 4 sold over 18k copies more than vol 3 did back then, narrowing the 31k gap betwwen their first three days to just 12k after 10 days.

After 24 days:

*45 22,191 *,254,190 Toriko Vol.36

First volume since Vol. 28 (January 2014) to make four consecutive appearances on the list. Ichii was right that Toriko has legs. This volume had a 31k deficit over 34 and 35 after their first three days but it looks like rather than increasing, the gap has instead narrowed over the last 3 weeks to about 20k and its fourth week is better than volume 28's by 2k (volume 28 had already sold over 315k by then though). Can Toriko pull a SNK and have its lowest debuting volume become one of the fastest selling? We won't know since next week it won't make the list (unless the threshold is dead low). Great legs, nonetheless.

*4 175,477 Kingdom (キングダム)
*8 108,598 Shingeki no Kyojin (進撃の巨人)

I expected SNK to average 60k per week or more so it looks like it might actually happen. Kingdom though, is proving to be very unpredictable and is even about to give AssClass a run for it's money (AssClass has many missing weeks of sales though, so maybe that's not the case just yet). I guess the random 17% increase in sales is due to the month's ending (since that's when Japanese workers are paid). If next week its sales fall by 50k or more, then I'll stick to my 8.5 million estimate. Otherwise, I'll have to revise it. Thinking about it, Kingdom might have had a legitimate shot at selling 10 million had this boost started in December. The boost from the two anime seasons seem small in comparison.

Such an underrated manga.
29. *30,599 *,*30,599 Shinmai Maou no Testament Vol.6

AYE, it probably won't make the year end list, but it'll keep selling nicely.
45. *22,191 *,254,190 Toriko Vol.36

Tokyo Ghoul hype!

3-gatsu no Lion sells pretty well, huh? Gotta check out the anime when it comes out.

Pretty much everything that needed to be said. Howeve it still managed to outsell volume 2 despite the release of Tokyo ghoul [anime] so the sales aren't dropping if that's what people thought last week.

After 11 days:

*1. 182,008 *,616,683 Tokyo Ghoul:re Vol.2

Yay, 3-gatsu no Lion is selling well even before the anime started. Will be glad to the additional boost that the anime will give it.

Oh yeah 3gatsu hype.
Really looking forward to the anime. Imo it's one of those titles that should immensely profit from a good soundtrack and the resulting mood.

It often escapes my mind because TG and TG:RE sales are split, but the series has become a juggernaut.
Btw, how did I never hear of 3-gatsu no lion when this volume almost reached 500k in its first week without an anime?

Very nice indeed. It actually doesn't even seem impossible for volume 17 to reach 1.8 million before leaving the list, has that happened before?

*4 175,477 Kingdom (キングダム)

After this week I wouldn't even call my prediction of Kingdom having a 150k average optimistic, seems like a safe bet to me now.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Not surprising since last volume was released 10 months ago.

http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1318499
*1. 299,314 299,314 3-gatsu no Lion Vol.10
*3. 171,502 171,502 3-gatsu no Lion Vol.10 Limited Edition
And vol. 9 was released in September 2013.

The sales are scarily constant for such a release schedule.
Very nice indeed. It actually doesn't even seem impossible for volume 17 to reach 1.8 million before leaving the list, has that happened before?

No. Non consecutively the highest a volume reached on the list is:
49. *17,857 2,706,099 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.1
But consecutively (which I guess is what you're asking):
50. *,*17,454 1,728,848 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.13

This volume would need to chart at least four or five more times to reach 1.8 million. This is very unlikely, especially if Haikyuu or OPM get a boost (since their volumes would raise the threshold).

Kingdom having a 150k average optimistic, seems like a safe bet to me now.
Yeah, its boost has been so long lasting that averaging 150k seems likely at this point, especially with vol. 40 coming out soon.

Also after the last episode, Prison school's backlog sales increased from 118,344 to 203,141 copies. If it keeps up then I expect to see it in the top ten this year.

That explains it. I guess it's kind of in a similar situation to Sakamoto desu ga? where it gets few (or a single) volumes a year but each sells very well.
This volume would need to chart at least four or five more times to reach 1.8 million. This is very unlikely, especially if Haikyuu or OPM get a boost (since their volumes would raise the threshold).
Oh right, I totally overlooked that. Too bad because if the threshold remained as low as it's been this week then I could have seen it making it. Oh well, the fact fall anime are starting soon will make the next few weeks more interesting.

Do you reckon this makes a second season more likely because the first one was successful or the opposite as a sequel would likely not have much effect?

The second half of the manga is even more intense and hilarious than the first half so its likely we'll see a second season soon.

Fab to see this up there. One of the rare occasions a manga adaptation sells as well if not better than the LN it's based on. Probably thanks to the gorgeous art which you see much less of in the LNs.

Hajime no Ippo and Akatsuki no Yona still selling well, very happy with that.

Definitely, I'm wondering which series will have the best boost this season. 2015 hasn't been nearly as impressive as 2014 when it comes to anime boosts. 2014 had Haikyuu, Tokyo Ghoul and Nanatsu no Tazai while 2015 has less impressive boosts like AssClass or Souma.

After two days, will vol. 79 be capable of beating this mammoth sized debut:
*1. 1,441,768 1,441,768 One Piece Vol.76
I somewhat doubt it.

I think this volume will beat 76 with overall sales, because of the crazyness in this volume.

Also One Piece can do that just do the math, Volume 66 i guess had almost 2.3 million sales in 3 days thats the highest sales in 3 days ever and i think by the next week it had 2.7 or 2.8 million sales and that would be more than this top 50.

No, volume 66 sold 2.275 million in 5 days. It then reached 2.689 million after 12 days and that's still below this Top 50.

The latest volume (78) 'only' sold 2.281 million in 10 days so the sales are not as high as in 2012 anyway.

The top 10 list alone sells more than what one piece would make in 10 days. Do the maths. I'm not even including snk regular edition 1.7 mill sales to this. Don't get ahead of yourself.

No, volume 66 sold 2.275 million in 5 days. It then reached 2.689 million after 12 days and that's still below this Top 50.

The latest volume (78) 'only' sold 2.281 million in 10 days so the sales are not as high as in 2012 anyway.

Yeah even if, its almost as much as this top 50 which is impreissve

Hmm? TG+KnB+SNK is already more than it.

I agree that One Piece sales are impressive, but not to such an extent.

I meant the sales of this week alone.

Well, volume 77 sold 2.295 million and volume 78 sold 2.281 million in 10 days so it's a bit far from outselling this entire Top 50.
With rhat being said, One Piece is still the King of Sales either way.

Good for Akatsuki no Yona too bad it probably won't receive another season.

The second half of the manga is even more intense and hilarious than the first half so its likely we'll see a second season soon.

the issue is that the director is basically drowning in projects that he needs to do over the next years which is also the reason why shirobako probably won't be getting a season 2 anytime soon
