Same reason why I replay video games: to re-experience. Maybe for nostalgia. Maybe because of how fun it was watching it the first time, that it'd be just as fun the second, third, fourth etc.

Re-watching stuff is fun! Anime is more about the journey than the destination imo.

Anime is good, fucking deal with it.

dunno, seems like a waste of time to me

unless if you've somehow forgotten the entire anime that is, otherwise you can just 'rewatch' it in your own memories

I rewatch stuff to get a bit more enjoyment out of it and to see if I'll form a better or worse opinion on a show after rewatching it.
It really helps doing things like that to see the things I haven't noticed that may go to the show's benefit or not.

I don't get this. If I really enjoyed something, why wouldn't I want to re-watch it? I don't see anime, especially my favorites, as a cheap expendable commodity. I appreciate them. If they bring on the feels, I may re-watch them to experience those feels again. I'll also re-watch complex shows to look for things I may have missed. For instance, I plan on re-watching Mawaru Penguindrum soon.

Some stuff is so good that I want to experience again. I want to absorb its style more so I could use it in my stories, or maybe there's more to learn with every rewatch.

Sometimes rewatching is necessary.

For example, when the first time you watched a show it lagged and you gave it a 1 because of that, you could rewatch it later for a more accurate score.

Just like books and movies : I know it's going to be good so why wouldn't I give it another go ? Especially since I'm a huge Sci-fi fan and good Sci-fi movies and books aren't exactly released every day.

Well, there are always shows were there is so much going on re-watching it will you notice more stuff. Or re-watching after a few years and you may be a new perspective on the show. Also, I re-watched Azumanga Daioh a whole bunch because when I felt crappy, I wanted to watch something I know would make my mood better. Also, I'll re-watch something to get a friend to watch a show I really like.

I can't say I re-watch a ton of stuff anymore, there is always something new out there, but sometimes re-visiting something you loved is what you want.

I rarely re-watch something and agree with most of you in the sense that there is so much Anime out there, that there's not enough time to be up to date with everything. Yet, there are a few series/movies that I'll eventually re-watch at some point.

I've been watching anime quite for a few years (10 or so), when let's say 3-4 years have passed since you have seen one you start to forget about it, not entirely, for example sometimes I remember the main plot or general lines of the animes but forgot about a lot of things or even the characters in it, in a sense when an anime have arrived to this point in my memory rewatching it is like watching it for the first time (not completely ofc, while I watch it I start to remember things, but I enjoy rewatching the parts I dont remember).

Nowadays I find difficult to find new animes to watch, or that catch my intentions, not that I am picky or something like that, just that, sometimes I just find myself looking at anime titles or recommendations and none catch my interest, or make me think I would like it, so when I'm like that I just get some anime I almost forgot about and rewatch it.

Not like I'm saying that's the reason everyone rewatches anime, It's just my case.

Monstrum said it for me...

If I were going to re-watch an anime, which I haven't yet, it would be for the feeling that I got at the end of the anime. Not something that I can really explain.

... or I'd re-watch it when I am in the process of making an AMV for it...
Maybe that someone's me.

usually it's after i've seen a slew of terrible series that make me dread watching more anime. i've always been fond of rewatching my favorite scenes from series i've liked, but when a series left an overall great impression on me it makes me want to watch it again and experience a little bit of what i originally felt the first time i saw the series.

idk. i've definitely rewatched/read a lot of things in my life so anime isn't any different.

I'm not a big re-watch guy, but I have re-watched a few of my favorites and thought they were even better the second time. I really need to re-watch Serial Experiments Lain, though. I think I looked away from the screen for a second and was completely lost the whole rest of the time. My Mom is the worst criminal of re-watching ever, although not anime obviously. She loves Netflix, and I swear to god watched After the Ball every day for the entire month of July and half of August. I'm not even exaggerating.
I don't really get this whole signature thing, but I feel like I need something down here to participate in the trends.

It will take a long time before I start to "run out" of anime. Currently my PTW is growing and I think it's even accelerating. I used to try to keep it under 100 TV shows, but it's gone way over now.

I have a friend who says he's watched Frozen over 50 times.
When my family used to watch most of our movies by buying DVDs we would watch each movie at least 3-4 times. With Netflix my mom often complains that there aren't any good movies left on there that we haven't already seen.

Sometimes I'll find a certain anime that's really gripping or I really enjoyed certain scenes that were just right for me, then afterwards I often long for such scenes again which other shows haven't given me so just re-watch it ^_^

Also reading the manga of an anime or vice versa is something I do for a somewhat 're-watching' feel.

I mean who wouldn't wanna' see their favourite battle again or, my personal favourite 'best blush' (▰˘◡˘▰)

Do you watch anime so that you can say you watched an anime, or do you watch it because you actually like it?

The answer of this question should give you the answer to your (stupid) question.

Usually if I really like an anime I'll watch the sequel or I'll watch a similar anime. Sometimes I'll put off watching an OVA from an anime so I can watch it later to bring back the good feelings I had during the series. I don't know exactly why but for some reason I consider it to be a good thing if I don't have to rewatch. Before I got into anime I rewatched a lot of stuff, but now I can usually find something to "fill in the void" after a good series. I actually haven't rewatched any of my favorite anime. I've rewatched Spirited Away 3 times, Yama no Susume once, and Inferno Cop once, but I think that's it. None of those are even full-length series. I might rewatch Love Live someday. I also plan to watch some of my favorites with my family if they're up to it.

Rewatching comes with plenty of perks such as:

- Appreciating foreshadowing (loving this in Aria atm)
- Connecting the dots from later portions of a show during the earlier parts
- Being able to better understand certain aspects of the story/characters (got a much better grasp on F/Z the second time around)
- Refreshing themes, values, and ideas (Clannad touches me deeply each and every time)
- Watching it from a brand new life perspective (FMA felt far more profound to me on my last rewatch since it's been a good 6 or so years since the rewatch before)
- Deepening a connection/endearment for characters you care about (loved all of the characters in Aria by Origination, rewatching Animation made me literally smile/tear up with every subtle thing they did)
- Getting on better terms with shows that perhaps didn't click before (Yama no Susume went from a 6/10 to 7/10 when I went back to it right before Second Season aired)

I'm sure there's other reasons I could include, but I've found that rewatching only enhances my enjoyment. There have only been like 1 or 2 instances where I felt something fell short of the first watch through.
