| I've been putting this off because I was skeptical; I was pleasantly surprised by this first episode. I'm not sure yet how seriously I should take this series, but it was really entertaining, in any case. Yoko in particular surprised me: I wasn't expecting her voice or personality to be like it is. (In fact, I was expecting to loathe her thanks to how fanservice usually is in anime.) She has the potential to be one of my favorite female characters, I think. Kamina seems fun too. Can't help but wonder about his backstory and if his surface claims are true. Simon... I don't know. I'll have to see more before I know what I think of him. Yeah. I won't bother taking apart the first episode. It was too fun to criticize, for me. I tried both the sub and dub and, also surprisingly, I thought both were excellent. I think I personally prefer the sub (as is usual), but I think either could work well enough. Not bad. I'll try not to let this increase my expectations yet, though, considering how easy it is to be let down. Excellent first episode, nonetheless. |
| Been watching this on Toonami, and I must say, good first episode. Since I'm a mecha fan, that was the reason I watched it. |

| I thought the first episode was only alright tbh. I dont usually like over the top anime with alot of fan service like this (absolutely disliked kill la kill) but everyone and their mother is telling me how fantastic this series is so i guess ill give it a try. |

| The ending fight was awesome! Got the chills while watching it. Kamina and Simon both seem like good characters, as does Yoko. The humor was great too and the fanservice wasn't over the top, actually pretty funny. Definitely has potential, I'll keep watching :D |

| Nice start. My friend told me that this is the kind of show that gets you pumped to watch it, and it totally seems that way even though this is the first episode. Bro seems like a pretty cool guy. Chief has quite the temper. Redhead is pure fanservice. Pig mole thingies are cute ^-^ |

| I am more than impressed with the first episode of this series. I can already tell this show is going to be in my top five. What a solid start. I'm sad I put off watching this legend for so long. Absolutely love this show's approach to the audience and the dynamics of the art/characters/voice acting Everything is top notch. Needless to say I'm excited to watch this series. |

| What a high-action first episode~ I'm not really into the Mecha genre. I don't know why, but I don't like it. But I think that I'll be enjoying this anime. Kamina's a cool guy. It would've been cooler if he used his katana (funny if it failed). I like it when Yoko doesn't feel embarrassed when something boob related happens to her, like that mole pig popping out her cleavage. She was like: what is this thing that popped out of my tits? Simon's a very lucky guy...digging up a mech and being cushioned by Yoko's succulent breasts twice. |

| oh dear, the dub is horrendous. Well, at least my eyes are fixed on the action. Strong fanservice from this start, welp, at least it tells the audience exactly what to expect. Nothing more desperately pathetic than a shitty insert of fanservice in the middle of a remarkable series. |

| Had really fun with this episode. Like the designs and personalities of the three protagonists, especially Kaminas. Their interactions were also pretty funny. I also loved the non cliché approach for the accidental boobfall xD |

| Really strong opening episode. Three likable characters (and thank God, Yoko isn't an another obnoxious tsundere), the whole premise has a shade of wacky to it, but it's otherwise very much grounded in reality (literally). Definitely going to be a joy to watch. |

JHGLDGHAIHRE but i kinda liked it??? oh well, the new year started and i thought maybe i would watch all anime available on netflix this year (except, probably, for SAO. god save me from it.) and TTGL was a no brainer choice since FLCL and kill la kill are two of my favourite anime. i don't know, i'll probably like it because of that, but the only relevant thing about this for now is that i'm probably gonna end up in love with yoko... |

| Okay! I see you Gurren Lagann. Not 100% sure what to think as of now about the concept with mecha fights etc. I mean I loved Code Geass not just because of the amazing characters and story but also because of the incredible mecha fight animation. Let's see if Gurren Lagann can once again make me enjoy Mecha like Code Geass did. But the way I see it is that this anime will be heavily character and story driven not just mecha fights against random enemies. we get a glimpse into the future in the first couple of minutes. The story kinda reminded me of shingeki no kyojin at first. An underwold without knowledge of the surface. Very similar to SnK where they wanna know what lies outside of the walls. Kamina wanting to see the surface but nobody really believes him that it really exists, similar to armin wanting to see the ocean in shingeki no kyojin. I'm already in love with Kamina as a character. I can see so much potential in this guy. I enjoyed the opening immediately, so nice. The animation in this episode was incredible. Curious to see if this will continue across the entire show. Definitely a good start. Let's see where this journey will go. |
