THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

It's great to see a whole episode from Sherlock's point of view, and Watson is here too!
And wow that end of episode, Moriarty is definitely terryfing, it's going to be very interesting

Chapters 7 and 8 (1st half) of the manga: A Study in "S" Acts 1 & 2. Quite an informal change, but does not hinder the overall plot (which is of sound tact).

The life of "detective consultant" Sherlock Holmes, and unlike the Sherlocks of the past, he's a pretty comical "playboy" kinda sorts with Miss Hudson. And of course, not forgetting the pairing of John Watson, all in Baker Street 221B.

With the introduction of Inspector Lestrade and the incompetent Scotland Yard police, even cases under them are a grime and desire of "competition" against the brillant detective who's always one step ahead of them.

Taking inspiration from Moriarty's challenges EH? And to be challenged by the crime consultant himself, what a great degree of test and experimentation.

Continuation of this story next week, it's gonna be intriguing once again!

This episode went by too fast. Love how goofy this series can be, but I'm also pretty hyped to more of Sherlock vs Moriarty.

This show sometimes amazes me with its stupidity.

Your name was written in blood, Sherlock, so you must be the culprit, off to jail with you.

We had the time to drive around town to arrest Sherlock, interrogate his friends, but the crime scene is still untouched and the body is left unattended, because they haven't taken it to the morgue yet :DDDDDDDDDDD

Plus, everybody getting fingerprints over everything.

Well british police during that time period is portrayed like that in every TV show, so it's not really surprising. Plus, Scotland Yard started fingerprinting individuals and identifying criminals using fingerprints only in 1901.

I think they wanted to change the story a bit and not plagiarize the original, but made many mistakes along the way. Most things in the case made zero sense.

As mush as I want Sherlock and Watson to finally be a couple, it will never happen as Conan Doyle estate spokeperson clearly state that Sherlock can not be gay in all legal adaptation.

But I get a hot hunk inspector Lestrade anyway!

Great episode, honestly loving the Sherlock Miss Hudson dynamic!

Scotland Yard will always have those rich people who want to place the murder on innocent people -_-

Watson is such a cutie and Sherlock is too funny and smooth.

Moriarty testing Sherlock is quite interesting, I'm getting excited as Sherlock for a possible battle between the two consultants (≧∇≦*)

We now peek a bit into Sherlock's life. His relationship with Miss Hudson is pretty funny. John Watson is also here too and he now became his roommate and partner.

Just when they're having their drink, an official has arrested him by suspicion of murder. Those Scotland Yard officers are pretty idiotic to think Holmes was the culprit just by the evidence of "Sherlock" written with blood in the crime scene. Of course Sherlock ain't letting down without an "investigatory" fight. And after masterful deduction with the help of Watson, he got to the idea of the crime but not to the specific person.

And even though we're in Sherlock's POV, our protag Moriarty still influences the plotline of the episode. That was pretty clever by William to test Sherlock like that, it is pretty damn clever. Next week, the continuation of Sherlock's story. I thought this episode will drag the series down for me, thank god it didn't.

Well that was a pretty weak reason to suspect Sherlock of committing the murder xD anyway I'm liking this challenge by Moriarty that Sherlock is facing. This is Moriarty's way of testing Sherlock and I'm sure he'll get through it with ease. Also nice to finally see Watson.

Another 10/10 Moriarty ep.

I love sherlock and Ms. Hudson’s dynamic so much, she’s so cute and Tsun Tsun lol.

This episode was a nice peek into Sherlock’s life and mind, I’m liking the reinterpretation of the first Sherlock story so far. I’m really excited to see how Moriarty v Sherlock plays out over the course of the anime.

As an aside, the fact that the cops thought Sherlock was the culprit because his name was written in blood is pretty laughable.

Great episode.

Anime Mrs.Hudson is absolutely fine. I love the dynamic she and Sherlock have and I also love how much of a Tsun she is. Who is her VA? I recognize her voice but I can't place the name.

Episode had a very classic feel, reenacting a very classic tale in it's own fashion. While it may not reach the level of BBC's retelling, it was still great and very enjoyable.
Looking forward to more of Moriarty and Sherlock's showdown.

They made Mrs. Hudson too young and pretty. I feel like she was older in the novel, and also a lot gentler.

A few things were changed about Sherlock and John's meeting and the death of Drebber. I am mostly annoyed by the fact that the killer didn't write 'Rache' on the walls since Sherlock used that information alone to deduce so much about the murderer's identity.

I was sad because of all the changes they made to the novel since the novel was quite fun. Still, I was so excited when I saw Lestrade, Drebber, Hope and the guy who disappears forever after inviting Watson.

I can't remember the novel properly, but I feel like the murderer had an unnamed accomplice there. I thought they'd turn that guy into Moriarty.

oooooo looks like Moriarty finally has his sights set on Sherlock lul, given how this is supposed to be a "test", I'd assume he purposefully made it easy for him to deduce (but not too easy that any simple person could either). Quite excited to see more of their 'battles'

I mean, for your average not so super detective cop, having the name being written in blood could have been a clear indication that the victim was trying to let whoever found their body know who the killer was (especially if the killing went unnoticed). So not completely a stretch for them to come to that conclusion

I'm digging this so much. Seeing those ole Sherlock Holmes like Study in Scarlet stories being reinterpreted like this is so enjoyable.
And I would have never thought that Mrs Hudson herself would have shown up in this series, being a bishoujo and being all tsun and dere dere for Sherlock, without it majorly distracting from the rest of the story. Kudos.

I think people need to stop comparing it to the Sherlock Holmes novels. This isn't an adaptation of those by any means, it's its own media. I didn't like Sherlock's characterization at first until I separated the Sherlocks in my mind.

A famous arc from the first Arthur Doyle detective novel, the introduction of Doctor Watson, and Miss Hudson. There was some scene that made a different from the original (as I've seen at wiki). Even they changed the name of this arc with 'S', which means of (might be) Sherlock. As how its indicated the work of Moriarty to test Sherlock. However, it could indicated the work of Scarlet color at the blood, the one that showing the name 'Sherlock', at the crime scene. Which was the same name of Arthur Doyle original story at his novel.

Well, the first dynamic interaction between Watson and Holmes already led him to the loyalty of Holmes eccentrism and willing to help him to solved the problems. It was fine, the changed of the narrative kinda understandable, for the sake of fitting the storyline. As of Watson pov narration, its indeed could figure out how Watson amazed by Holmes deduction skill and his interest toward the chemistry. The additional motivation that come from Miss Hudson request. By the time, Holmes found out and told them the name of 'Sherlock' was just a ploy. But, those police assistant, insist Sherlock explanations.

Then, the real test began. Its start from Watson after receiving the small letter from Holmes. He need to solved the puzzle that already given by Sherlock, alone. Well, interesting to see his technique to unveil Sherlock hint. Onward to the next episode!

Good episode. A change of pace from the usual with a POV from Sherlock but I'm loving it and the introduction of Watson and Ms. Hudson was fun. Didn't expect her to be a pretty young lady, but I suppose that'll please some of the male watchers. Looking forward to seeing how this case will turn out and what Moriarty is planning for Sherlock.

The whole case is one of Will's revenge services, okay to be honest I did not see that coming, I only realized it when Sherlock said there was a mastermind behind the plan. This was such a clever way to link Sherlock and Will's plotline, also interesting to see a changed POV. And not only that but Will decided that he was gonna test Sherlock. Love it!! I like this episode first and foremost because it's definitely a nice break of pace than the usual pattern "let's get rid of this evil noble" nonsense that happens in previous episodes.

Just echo everyone that this one is reinterpretation of the first case in the novel. Lots of things changed but I'm perfectly fine with that and I'm glad it got treatment more than one episodes.

That's a nice way of tying Sherlock's and Moriarty's story now, they will cross paths eventually. Great episode, I am glad it is a 2 parter.

Once again, this episode did not disappoint me with its artwork. It is lovely to look at and always gives me the intended feeling as to location. The story was okay and introduces Team S so that we now have two opposing forces. Team M is setting things up for a nice battle of wits to come along. This reminds me of the "Unstoppable Force" meets the "immovable Object" type of thing. Good things to come!

Was not expecting an episode with full Sherlock focus. I was kinda confused as to why Moriarty would try and frame Sherlock so early on. Felt like there was no real suspicion of him and doing this could only bring more. It does kinda make sense if you think of it as recon to gauge Sherlocks abilities.

Okay so I personally thought the episode was just ok because nothing much occurred and it didn't really pull me in like the other episodes did. Like, we meet Watson and Sherlock's landlord, and Sherlock gets framed by William. That's pretty much all I remember from the episode. I just feel like William's POV is more interesting than Sherlock's.. Probably because Sherlock's character seems simpler than William's.

Side note: I really hope the anime unpacks/develops William's character more and they just don't leave us with the short backstory, because the two-episodes didn't explain too much except how William and his brother got adopted and that's really not going in too deep in his character. Kind of a bad explanation but basically I think the show would get even more interesting than it already is if we get to know more about William's character and his motivations. Like, what really spurred William's strong hate for nobles, because he despised them even before he got adopted.

An episode that is truly for the Sherlock Holmes fans! I really like that we got to see a whole episode from Sherlock and Watson's point of view. That scene where Watson found Sherlock on the floor covered in blood was such a typical Watson-Sherlock interaction haha

Sherlock is obviously going to deduce his way out of his arrest, but as Moriarty revealed at the end; this set up was never meant to stop him but only to test him so I'm intrigued what will happen next... and I'm very interested in the note Sherlock slipped to Watson.

Why did Moriarty "test" Sherlock by directing him to solve a crime he has planned? It makes no sense. Why give him a free hint that someone is after him and a chance to gather incriminating information? Criminals should maintain a low profile, not toy with detectives by giving them hints on purpose. Instead, what Moriarty should have done is leave Sherlock alone and only deal with him if it becomes necessary due to circumstances.
