A bit risky giving this final episode to Arata but wow that was worth it,i was scared the end of this season would be disappointing (or a bad original ending) but it gave me hype and i really hope they'll make a fourth season.

All in all the season was great. A bit disappointed by the last episode that didn't faithfully follow the manga's chronology, leaving out important scenes making me lose hope for a 4th season. They sort of lightened up the atmosphere by skipping all the drama that is going on in Tokyo while Arata is unobliviously making his club.

It felt a bit frustrating but I understand they probably had no other "good" options.....

Anyway it was a great ride and crossing fingers for that 4th season if ever.....

I'm so relieved that Chihayafuru S3 turned out to be the same level of quality as the previous seasons.

I was worried because Madhouse seemed like they were in a long slump with the last great series they produced being SoraYori. That was in the beginning of 2018. If they couldnt get back on their game with their best long running series (sorry Overlord, its not even close), then not only would it have been a huge disappointment for Chihayafuru fans but also a sign that there truly is no hope left for the studio. Needless to say, my fears have been quelled. May this beloved series and studio continue to see more love and success in the future.
Best long running Madhouse series?... There is too much competition there, from Hunter x Hunter to Hajime no Ippo

I can only assume that the production did the best they could with the time they were given and with the content they had to adapt. Of course it would pain us, but we can only hope that with a fourth season they'll go back on some things. It's actually not even a matter of "choosing to go back" or not, because they *had* to skip really important moments for the sake of getting to the end they wanted. Putting them out of order won't make much difference to the story, so it could be done. And the ones that can't should just be put into flashbacks. But they really wouldn't be able to go on without those scenes and they're aware of that, so if there's ever a fourth season, they're going to be adapted.

And yeah, I agree this last episode was the worst part of the season-- However they delivered a masterpiece to us in the other episodes, so I don't think it's really the production's fault :( If they had been given one more episode, things would've turned out perfectly. Anyway, if you want to check what was skipped/what this chapter cover, read chapters 139~143 of the manga. The anime ended with the final scene from chapter 143. By doing that you can see what they had to skip to fit what they wanted.

No problem! Glad I was able to ease your mind a little! And yeah, lately Suetsugu has been doing a lot for the karuta world (there was a Chihayafuru Cup a while ago, where the winner would actually receive money and prizes), so maybe the karuta world will do something for her manga as well xD (Although, really, every karuta player is kind of broken lol Since karuta does not give you prize moneys or is considered a real sport, you travel and play and get in competitions on your own... Now there's a wind of change trying to make things different in Japan, but who knows how long it's going to take until karuta actually becomes a professional thing).

Oh, that's interesting, I didn't know such changes are slowly being implemented now. About time then, I suppose. Hopefully, there'll be a round two of the Chihayafuru Cup and there they'll announce Season 4 maybe...

Anyway, which chapters cover events of this episode?
139 to 143. It's just so sad that those were left out. maybe if we do get a season 4, the first episode of it can fill in the blanks. I wonder how to prevent this from happening again and hopefully they can make sure they get enough episodes to cover possible future seasons to finish the story.

@MaahHeim, this episode was like all of the Banana Fish season back in 2018 which left out some 40% of the manga leaving the series feeling fragmented. So many things were rushed and really important moments didn't get time to really cover it properly where something should be taken slowly (like Ash and Jessica's conversation dealing with the subject of rape). That kind of adaptation was really heartbreaking for me for such an amazing manga. I would HATE for this to happen to Chihayafuuru.

@MetaKite

I didn't read the manga for Banana Fish, but I remember I did feel like some episodes were rushed (and at the time, you filled me in about Ash's possible condition and stuff).

But really, the production for Chihayafuru just had to fit what they saw was the most important in the episodes they were allowed to have, I guess... With the low budget that Chihayafuru has every season is amazing that they can pull off such masterpiece of an adaptation every time. This episode was the first one in all three seasons that left me with a bitter taste, after all. That for itself is already amazing.

Madhouse clearly has always shown really good care with Chihayafuru and has faithfully adapted from the original source material, so I don't think you should fear that this could happen here too. This last episode was not the norm for the series adaptation.

Another great season of Chihayafuru. I really loved the poem metaphor they used. Anyway apparently they skipped a lot in this ep so I went and read the manga chapters. Yeah I'd recommend others check it our. Rip the characterization of the first years.

I can just pray that we will get a season 4 soon, although I won't be as dissatisfied if we don't get another season as I would've been without season 3 because now "peak chihayafuru" has been adapted

I'm not saying that it's gonna be bad from now on but the best parts have been adapted except for a couple of chapters

The whole season felt rushed, and i binge-watched the first 2 seasons when this one started airing because i was curious to see what was this, the production quality of the first 2 is overall superior, but this third season with the cheaper quality and rushed story managed to pass in quality the first 2 seasons by far, it got me excited to watch the next episode next week from some point till the end, and if someone would ask me tomorrow about what moments i remember well, i have to say the Harada vs Arata match might be it, alongside the master game of Harada, they really managed to pull well those matches in a really exciting way to watch, Chihayafuru doesn't need fancy animation to be captivating like it had in the first 2 seasons, I have no problem with the hit sound then still frame while cards are flying away, that is enough to give the idea of the hit, and is going to land well, the thing i like about this show is the human element, people struggle, harada has his knee pain but still plays, Taichi is a frustrated person who cannot win ones but still managed to resist for a long time but broke by the end, Arata improved drastically as a character, after watching the first 2 seasons i didn't like Arata, he was just there, but now he appeared more and showed he is not perfect boy at game and started to struggle and shit, even tho i still like more Taichi's character even with the dumbass confession he did mentioning other guy while doing it, hell even Retro ended up being a decent character by the end, his frustrations and struggles are real, the punchline character became one that the viewer can sympathize with for real now.

It took three seasons but Arata finally evolved. That guy likes to take his time.

Taichi, Chihaya and Arata are all one the move. Apart for now but fate will undeniably bring them together again. What will that encounter bring?

Fukasaku offered advice. Learn something. Anything. That ole man is one of my favourite characters.

Well, I am not that old. I think I will manage to wait long enough for the fourth season.

Taichi didn't mention Arata to Chihaya. He was just thinking it like he was thinking "This is just a joke I was pissed at first when I thought he antagonized her using Arata in the middle of a confession but he didn't say out loud to her.

What a marvelous return, im taking off my hat to you, Chihayafuru 3. Simply amazing season without a doubt.

Not only we had more valuable character development and more Karuta action, we also got the development of the romance aspect, wich made this season even more concise and engaging. Story development was also spot on. Superb stuff, well done Madhouse 👌

Strong 9/10, give us more of this!! I need to see how the romance evolves!

But they rushed things way too much! I'm really sad. They cut the scene that shows Tamaru's nasty personality and Chihaya leaving the club (I love how Kana-chan scolds her for her own good there)... And everyone saying that they've lost their Sun/Moon... And Taichi realizing he hated karuta and Suo praising him for being able to handle playing it for everyone else's sake for so long... The talk with the teacher in the beginning made me happy, also her memories and stuff, but from then on I felt like it was a mess. Even some lines seemed to have been recorded faster (like, people saying it fast) so everything would fit. I'm fairly disappointed, but I guess it was the studio's choice for time and stuff like that... I still would've prefered the sad ending...

Right, no wonder why the episode felt compressed and a few things kind of out of place. I was expecting them to sign off on a sorrowful note too given how last episode transpired but here’s to hoping this is just a good sign for continuity in the near future! Technically, it works the other way round but one can dream...

Damn, Sakurazawa-sensei sharing the info of not only Taichi's but Chihaya's retirement though. Definitely shook me to my core xD. It's a pity that studying and trying to focus elsewhere didn't do the trick but credit to the elderly teacher there for lending an ear firstly and then with that gold piece of advice.

Lots of focus on Arata this episode, and it was quite the treat indeed! Being a team leader and playing a team battle is completely different and it's nice to see how he's slowly starting to appreciate this.

Goes to show just how important a piece Taichi was to the foundation of Mizusawa's Karuta Club who managed to master that role from the get-go, with helpful support from Chihaya of course.

Those final moments were amazing, Taichi and Chihaya aren't down and out just yet! Just like how Arata was saved earlier from the two, now it's payback time. Really liked that message from this episode, "it is the encounter in life that make life worth living" as they say.

Overall, from the anime franchise thus far, this has easily been my favourite season of the three. I believe this is genuinely one of those shows that keeps getting better as it goes on. Character Depth and Drama with a pinch of exhilarating Karuta action and the divine elegance of Literature, I can't have enough of this lol. I'm really glad that they took the 6 month extension now that I look back on the season, the artstyle and animation quality has been brilliant for the most part after all.

It's been an eventful season from start to finish but the Omu Jingu matches were probably the highlight for me. Harada-sensei is just too bloody good! Didn't think I would find myself so intrigued by Suo-san either, if I'm to be frankly honest. Man, I need more of this now! Season 4, please! Best seasonal anime I've had the pleasure of keeping up with since SanGatsu no Lion S2 and Re:Zero!

Here's a little something for fellow fans (sorry it's not 4th Season announcement or such though):

Edit: Managed to stay up till 6 am despite having my Chemistry Theory Paper the day after tomorrow... Well, no regrets.

Thanks for sharing the video. Just shows how amazing the people working at madhouse are. Especially to give us such a great treat throughout the series this season.

@MaahHeim , I think as well that more in fault were not creators of this adaptation, but other factors, like timeline in example. It's sad, because this whole season was utterly fantastic and had to leave us with quite disappointing ending episode. Like I said before, it was not bad, it was still great, but it looked quite pale compared to the previous episodes and the fact it skipped so many content from the manga is just sad. And these words go from anime-only like me, so I guess manga readers were even more disappointed.

@MetaKite , in my opinion those unadapted content should be adapted either in Season 4's first episode as flashback (even a short one, lasting for several minutes) or be covered in separate special episode or OVA with length or regular episode. That could be enough, however I have not read it yet so I can't judge whether those chapters' pace would fit if they were to be "stuffed inside around 20-minutes long episode".

Thanks both @MaahHeim and @MetaKite for providing which chapters were adapted in this last episode. I must check it out - I don't want to wait for Season 4's possible flashback or hypothetical OVA or whatever, because it is still not certain and I am really curious what were the circumstances in which Chihaya left her club for real.

Enjoyed the season but found this last episode to be quite underwhelming.

The manga seems to be quite a way ahead, surely that will speed up now and come to an end soon.

You can never tell what is going to happen but to end this series without Arata or Chihaya challenging for the titles would be a real anti climax.

I don't see them going to 5 seasons so i would imagine there will be a fair amount skipped if there is a season 4 and we will get to the end in the next season. Seems pointless to go this far without ending it.

Good that Taichi is now with Suo, although he needs to concentrate on his studies as well now that he has been overtaken. Arata was shown to be lacking in a lot of people skills, something that Taichi had when he was captain of his club. I still don't buy this idea of Arata helping Chihaya and Taichi get back into the game. At this point, he knows Taichi is his rival and I don't think many friendships really work that way.

Doesnt change the fact he did wanted to help them when he heard of them quitting the club and realizing something has happened. His friends are lost and in a dark phase and sending that picture to chihaya & taichi was a way of showing them something positive, because in the episode he regrets & is upset being far from them and not being able to be there for them and wants to return what they did for him when he was in his dark phase. Thats why the least he can do is this.
Yea they tweaked the last part of the message a little which was a little disappointing doesn't change the meaning and thoughts of what arata wanted to convey.
Also even though Taichi is a rival ,arata considers him as his dear friend and helping your friend & rival is a way of showing your love and respect and taichi somewhere in his heart feels for arata in the same way as a friend. So one day they both might overcome that awkward love rivalry wall between them and become great friends, i really do see that happening.

What a wonderful way to end the season, but the part I was upset is that it's so in fast pace ( that was my concern of the last episode of the season): I really wish the episode would have been in the same pace like the rest of the previous episodes, but sadly it didn't come to be. Well, at least we get to see Arata's team in action by those chapters animated: having a third season of Chihayafuru is a big achievement and that's something I'm forever grateful for, let's hope for the 4th season in the future.

Now about the episode, yes, Arata gets a lot of screentime: now we have witness Arata team has finally been recruited: seeing all Arata efforts really inspired those new members to join the club ( wearing a hakama during his announcement to each of the classroom was so stunning: going gaga over him, lol!!!): I'm so happy for him for all his efforts: he's amazing ( he did his best to lead his team alone, even he's aware he lacks in leadership skills, but that didn't stop him for having a team, he never stops to surprise me): OMG the part where Arata wants to voice out his team, the part where he told Rion he wants to re-do it again was so hilarious and cute: SERIOUSLY I COULDN'T STOP FROM LAUGHING, LOL!!!!

Arata really is something else ( that's what I really love about my boy) Not only about his team, he also helped Chihaya and Taichi by sending them the picture of his team: Arata knows exactly the state they both were in, he wanted to help them the same way they helped him in the past. It's wonderful to see how strong they are connected, distance doesn't cut their bond: after Chihaya saw his message really brought Chihaya back the motivation of karuta again, SO TOUCHING!!!!: seriously WE REALLY NEED A FOURTH SEASON ALREADY ( LET'S CROSS OUR FINGERS EVERYONE!!!!!!)It's sad to see Chihayayafuru 3 reach its end after seeing the last episode, the best anime of the decade.

Yes, of course he sent the picture to give them some encouragement.

Well, that would be great, and I kind of see it happening in this story as well. The old cliche of rivals being hostile to each other is a bit tiresome also.

Thinking back, though, I don't recall many friendly rivalries like this, but quite a few people who have fallen out in this kind of situation. I suppose this triangle is a test of their friendship as much as anything else. Although, I wonder if he would be so generous if he knew why they had quit the club? And not sure that is the photo that Taichi would have wanted to see. But Arata wouldn't know that.

I love this anime so much. I'm sad it''s ending. This season 3 was beyond all my expectations. I was truly overjoyed to hear a third season was being made after waiting all those years. This season had so much more Arata, Shinobu, and all of these new characters with incredible stories. I loved the theme of the old vs the young. My favorite part of the whole series so far was Arata vs Dr. Harada and then Arata confesses to Chihaya...so satisfying.

I wanna see Arata be Master and get with either Shinobu or Chihaya. I want Chihaya to be Queen and find out what career she wants. I want Shinobu to have friends and smile. I'd like to see Suo's foster mom praise him for his talents and see him settle into something good. I'm curious about where Sumire's character is gonna go, too.

I'm gonna miss this show. The amazing music, animation, funny characters, competition, and young love. Maybe I'll read some of the manga...

By reading some comments, I realized the producer decided to leave many things out. I guess we will have to rely on flashbacks on season 4 to explain many things I guess.

But from a producer stand point, if they only had 24 episodes available, they made sure to leave something to wait for the next season if that ever comes out. I mean, Taichi seems to be training with Suo-meijin, Arata created a team, and Chihaya seems to be determined after seeing Arata team pic.

I only hope we don't have to wait like 5 years for a new season to come out.

MANGA READERS PLEASE ANSWER THIS. Is there enough manterial for a 24-episode season 4? If not, at current pace, how long do you think we will have to wait until the manga has advanced enough to have material for a two-cour anime?

Sure, fourth season can be 12 episodes only, but I think production committee is looking for 24 episodes.

Well, seems like this episode left a lot of manga readers disapointed, and it's understandable, barely 7 minutes in the beginning and 1 with the last scene focused in Mizusawa's side after all what happened in last episode, it felt really rushed, a shame with a so good adaptation till this point, it was a good episode, but knowing so much important stuff was left aside is regrettable; on another note, I liked the focus on Arata making his way to form a karuta club, with the help of two mates from his society, felt happy when he finally made it and it was really interesting to see him trying to be a leader, also, we've been given a glimpse to the team dynamics, and it already seems that they have a really good chemistry.

After reading about what this episode left out because of its fast pace, in my opinion, a good way they could have handle it, and getting to this more happy ending, would be to start with a short scene of Arata, implying he has advanced in his way to making the club, maybe that part with his society's mates uniting to his school, then returning to Misuzawa and focusing in what that happens there, meanwhile it also focuses with the parallel plot of Taichi & Suo, this would take most of the chapter, and it would end in the same point it did, with both Taichi and Chihaya receiving the message from Arata showing them his club (I don't know how fitting it would be, but I would liked it if here the first ending would have played, I mean, I loved it when it played in season 2), reaching the same happy ending but with a more dramatic journey which seemed necessary, at least for this episode; from here, everything would be positioned for either case they do or do not a season 4:
If they do it, the first episode would be a complete Arata-centric episode, showing his ride in making his club, basically, what we saw in this episode, but more expanded-detailed; as I understand that from here on Arata becomes more prominent in the story, so it would set his importance in this season and the two Arata vs. Rion matches could been pretty exciting (I don't know if they're as short as they were in this episode).
If they don't do it, I think the intrigue for knowing how Arata made his club would be attractive for some anime onlys like me, furthermore, there's pretty much obvious that at some point both teams will play against each other, so that would be a strong hook; in other words, with this finale the message would (and pretty much is) very clear: go read the frigging manga, it's finishing.

As for the season, a wonderful journey, from the intense matches to the joyful victories to the hard-punching moments this season has presented us, this has been a great rollercoaster of emotions, and I've loved how the characters evolved this season, and those new introduced were also pretty great; a great job from Madhouse adapting it, great pacing excluding this episode, smooth animation, lovely music and a general outstanding work from the seiyuus, a technical achievement in practically all points. Excited for a season 4 announcement.
10/10.

From what I've heard, there's much more than enough for a 2-cour season, so the abscense of material for adapt isn't a worry at the moment (also, a lot of manga readers state that a full adaptation could be covered with a 5th season).

Taichi didn't mention Arata to Chihaya. He was just thinking it like he was thinking "This is just a joke I was pissed at first when I thought he antagonized her using Arata in the middle of a confession but he didn't say out loud to her.
my bad, you are correct he didn't say it, but having that mindset while saying that is kinda both unavoidable and a bad thing, but for a character like him that already shows in his style of playing that is unavoidable, he overthinks a lot both in his playstyle and in his social life.

It was a spectacular season, but this episode wasn't a good finale for it. After all the drama of the previous episode, we were supposed to be wondering what the heck is gonna happen now, how do the club continue like that, and how Chihaya and Taichi are gonna handle this storm of emotions - and it's obvious we expect them to show us how. But what episode 24 offers? Never mind, let's just focus on something else, like Arata building his team, and we really need their training with Fujisaki covered thoroughly [all the Chihaya-Taichi-Mizusawa drama is meanwhile happening behind the screen], up to Yoroshiko's curling his hair, oh and btw Chihaya has left the club and Taichi is already back to karuta. Like, what? We just skip everything that's happened and show only the conclusion? Skip the scenes of Chihaya's defeated bow when she collapsed on the tatami with tears in her eyes, asking for a "temporary leave of absence"? Skip Kana taking the role of the leader and making a harsh decision? Or Suou's "words that hold power" and Taichi following him and having that crucial talk that made him realise and admit to himself a very important stuff, and Suou telling it's the same for him? Really, we just skip all that to give a quick happy conclusion? It's like skipping the Fujisaki final and just saying that everything went well and Mizusawa won. And it's not even about balancing the characters' screen time or whatever, it just didn't make any sense narratively to show the drama of ep.23 and then just resolve it behind the screen without ever showing us how the characters made it through. It almost devaluated the whole thing that had been building up throughout this whole season. The characters just hit the lowest point of despair - and then whoosh everything is back on tracks, Taichi is playing karuta again, Chihaya had left but now returned, nothing to worry about. (those who want to read all this, read chapters 139-143, it's the whole volume 27 and it starts and ends just like this episode, but the in between stuff wasn't covered).

It seems to prove that they had no plans for the 4th season when making this one. If they had, it would have been a better choice to finish it with the scenes of Taichi deciding to follow Suou, Arata only starting to build his team, Chihaya temporarily leaving the club for studying. That would have been more faithful to the story's timeline, a not too dark cliffhanger that only gives us a spark of hope and hints at the direction, but doesn't resolve everything. Instead they went and concluded the whole thing in a too comforting way, and also created a problem for themselves if they ever decide to make season 4 (like, how to squeeze all those important scenes if this arc is already concluded?). So, i won't hold my hopes high. But who knows, miracles happen.

A lot of people were waiting for a third season and well they sure delivered to the point that they better gives us one more with an ending like that!

Chihayafuru did it again, really enjoyed it from start to finish, each episode progressed amazingly and the story developed really lovely to the point that even the romance side of Chihaya finally got to the point.

Really impressed and it sure was a good idea to not rush it and make it as is than rush it to meet a specific season!

In general I hope for a fourth season but when that will come, that sure will remain a mistery!

I don’t have idea why they changed that part in the episode. It was really disappointing

I always thought it was Arata speaking. Not Chihaya. Because it was the exact thing Taichi said. So, the picture message from Arata was like as if Arata telling the same thing to Chihaya about Taichi returning.

Also, I have read the Japanese version. That line used the same fonts as the continuous monologue from Arata looking at Mt. Fuji unlike the fan translation. I said it multiple times in the past, the fan translations are not accurate enough. A long dash in manga means continuation.

@Kipo0007. See my response because I have read Chihayafuru in Japanese. It was continuation of Arata's monologue that became a message to Chihaya.

What irked me more is the animation where it didn't show the receivers name in Chihaya's phone which included Mashima Taichi and Ayase Chihaya. It's an important bit which shows Arata always keeps both Taichi and Chihaya in the loop, unlike Taichi. (it shows up in Taichi's phone however.)

As for the episode, my lethal sugar dose of Arata <3.

But I would have really really loved to see The Moon and The Sun part. That was my OTP. T_T

I enjoy the previous seasons but hands down this was my favourite season of Chihayafuru so overall 9/10
So many things happenend in this season
Alot of character development for different characters. More screentime to Arata which I am glad becuz now I am liking him he is cute and loveable even though I ship Taichi and Chihaya
Many intense matches this season like Taichi vs Chihaya, Taichi vs Arata, Dr harada vs Suo and many more
and lastly more romance factor this season and both male leads confess to Chihaya :)

Yeah, the ending felt like something they would do from a kdrama... like they put in scenes like that, but in the next upcoming episode/season (if they ever decide to put out a season 4) they go more in depth about it. Almost like a rewind to what happened.

Overall, best season

Huh, that was an interesting final episode. They really only had a short amount of time focusing on Chihaya and the Mizusawa crew before spending most of the episode on Arata putting together his high school team. Maybe it's to make it "flow" better if there's a S4 ...? Either way, having Chihaya quit offscreen and finding out with Arata was kind of rough. I guess if there is a S4 leaving more of the new character introductions and club stuff makes more sense ...? Well, Taichi's mom's reaction was a bit surprising too, as she didn't seem to expect him to quit ... and also his cram school teacher is Suou LOL. Still some good scenes with Arata learning how it is to play as a team rather than solo. Fujisaki training was great, and of course Sakurazawa is such a great coach as well. I think the best part was when Chihaya really felt what Taichi was going through and connecting it to one of the poems ... simply great.

So overall for the season, there were definitely some excellent episodes, but overall I will say this show has grown to be too much "sports anime and tournaments" whereas the first season had more "high school coming of age" which is what drew me to the series in the first place. Of course, many of the "technicals" were still there: a great cast of characters and definitely good soundtrack and exciting to watch; animation generally good but had some very good and bad moments as well. I guess just the way the show is developing is not really to my taste which is unfortunate (and this is the first season where I've read ahead in the manga), but still very good in my books! 8/10

6 years.. (felt like 10 years..) didn't even realise it had been that long..
Worth the wait just to hear the karuta being read. Just to hear the swipes and the hits..
Ahhhhhhhh...
Taichi.. you have grown and grown.. you have grown on me.. and your love has become so deep. But I fear it is always going to be so much hard work. :/ Do you have the energy to keep it going still?

Arata made an epic proposal in the classical Japanese style. Minimal, and yet so much. Quite like a haiku.
Taichi finally exhaled all that he was holding in.. it wasn't even a tanka anymore.. it went into prose. haha. But Chihaya is finally looking, finally realised the 'why'.
Now it's just a matter of whether she finds Taichi's feelings to be so overpowering.. so overwhelming.. that it feels like a burden.. or if she can bear that weight, turn it lighter.

Suo.. Hahahaha.. when Suo came into the picture with his "bride" label, I really thought Chihaya may end up going along with him, because she is in love with Karuta more than anyone or anything. It could take a random sweep like that.

With Arata building a team.. I wonder.. will the series reach a point where the three of them are finally in a team together? Feels like Arata's likely to start his own society.

Special cheers to Sumire. She is so strong and so bold. I'm wondering now if perhaps Sumire and Taichi are actually better matched character wise. After all, Taichi has never looked at anyone else, but Sumire has gently pushed him on twice. And if he starts looking at her now, I'm sure his fondness will grow seeing her hard work. I wonder what he gave her in return for the squid.

I hope the next season actually comes back after 365 days.. After all, the Meijin himself has promised it. ;)

Makes me wonder if Arata will play Suo, and then this will continue into college....Taichi will now lessen the gap because not only is he practicing against meijin, but he's focusing more on himself/solo matches (not just chasing Chihaya).
Sumire-chan surprising all of us, and helping to carry the team in his absence, along with Oe. but also...waoo such a good ending. I'm glad everyone is taking the beginning of the year to make new progress, (Chihaya studying, Taichi focusing on himself, Arata focusing on making up his HS years).

I guess that wraps up the third season. I don't plan on converting to the manga, but it's gonna really piss me off if Taichi just randomly decides to return to the karuta club just because of Arata's decision to make his own club. Things don't just return to normal so easily.

I'm a little torn because of the ending, but overall this season was pretty great. Lots of emotions and thoughts. Several things happened that we've been waiting to see since the beginning as well - Taichi's confession, Arata's confession, a little bit of background on Suo, heated karuta matches that fully captured the sport in all its intensity. I can't really complain about anything other than the ending here.
