In the end you never replied to it. I am not really looking foward to it but yesterday somehow I was thinking about difficulties in conveying messages in communcation/conversation (coincidently its a reocurring motif in anime) and Tower of Babel came into my thoughts and that One-shot. I never thought about this before but I think that up to today we are probably still building it and living its consequences. As I just scrolled down to my first post to you ever and thats basically the same thing I typed down lmao, it must be true :p

Hello, thanks for liking my comment. Initially I just intended on mark that I've read it and thats when I saw your review so I felt like I should read it again. Its interesting how a 11-page oneshot can make you think more than some 50ch+ series hehe.
Its been a long time, I don't think you should bother replying it, as long as you've found some sense in it I think its alright : )

I love your writing style!! Thanks for posting the list and that you care! Going to look at it, but I don't know most of the titles :/
I wish we'd get more support.

BTW: LOVE Usagi Drop :)

How was Kare Kano manga after the anime? Does go :crazy drama" or is it similar to anime? Asking because I saw some of your posts about it, and I'm thinking about reading the manga after the anime.

You are welcome ^_^

Nice Harmonie review.

Wow, I didn't expect any reaction this strong!
I'll definitely watch it :)
Although I don't know Boku dake ga Inai Machi, just by looking at it tells me my impression of Zetsuen I got from watching the first 2 episodes must have been completely wrong.

I've heard about that concerning Clannad more and more recently.
It was one of the first anime I added to my PTW list when I started watching anime searching for good romance stories.
I've dropped both of them now... enough is enough hehe. I can't imagine I'd enjoy it.

Thanks again and I'll tell you :)

I saw your comment on Door to Heaven and felt like maybe you would still like to talk about that. Not that I have much to say, but felt like showing my impressions to complement yours.

I wouldn't say it is a premonition, but an observation of what we've been doing since forever: trying to open the door to Heaven. This place, Heaven, isn't exactly a reference to a localization, but perfection itself. In other words, we are trying to reach a "perfect life" but we're always "one step" behind it. The Tower of Babel illustrates a raw and literal idealization of this. You mention that technology is the new language, I don't think its actually a language, but the fruit of our capacity as we make advances in the scientific area.
A very interesting part are the characters thoughts "Man's first dream fragments."* and "After today, the steps taken will definitely make them come alive."**, if we isolate "*" from "**", like it is in the OS, we can imply it related to the robots by the fact that we dream of the day we'll raise strong robots (its a reality now, but not that much when this story was released) to do normal labor. When we combine both sentences, we can imply that everything we've been doing are steps needed to make our desires come true - which is masked as Heaven.
Regarding to the Tower of Pisa, its mostly what you've pointed out: something flawed from the beginning. We think that we are moving foward while in fact we're doing it wrong, missing steps and getting lost in the many subtle variables that there is to perceive.
Now, what I think is the most interesting part of this OS is the Tower of Pisa page, which features the thought "There's no boundary of leaving". In other words, we will never give up on finding the door to Heaven. As I mentioned before, Heaven is an allusion to perfection (or simply moving foward in technology means). We will keep on moving on accumulating and discovering new things. This is a very humane thing.
Towards the end, we're left with the finishing thought "The distant Heaven just took another step foward". Like you pointed it out, the character looks down when it thinks of "the distant heaven". I think this is a realization that much has been done so far, but the abstract thing that is Heaven is still far from our reach.
Now, the last page remains enigmatic for me. I have a free interpretation that doesn't exactly follow much the hints it gives. There is a frame containing a representation of a section of Birth of Venus. That might point that once it was considered divine. In the period Boticelli lived, painters went back to study Greek culture - its fine arts and culture, because for them they contained an advanced notion of nature - the creation of god. I think there is a link between this and the search for perfection. I think the mangaka want to point it out that once we managed to produce such beautiful paintings, we realized that there is something else. In better words: this isn't the Heaven we thought it was. If this sound too abstract, I think that this might elucidate better: think of the evolution of cellphones. Whenever a new model comes out, we think its much superior, in a whole new level, but then we start to find flaws here and there and by the time a new model comes out and we repeat the same thought process.

I hope you might enjoy or find this useful. I'm open to keep the discussion going on.

Ah sorry I didn't find it when looking at it somehow, weird.
It's very short unfortunately, but really different and nice ;)
Good to know how you feel about Zetsuen no Tempest.
I have watched the first 2 episodes and wasn't sure whether to continue or not. Since you liked it so much I bet it's not the standard shounen show, so I think I should give it another try!
Thanks :)

Thanks for the reply. I definitely think Spring 2012 was a worthwhile season too, and worth following up on. But yeah, Spring 2007 is truly staggering. I think the Top 10 from that season would be better than many entire anime years, including the past 3 (and Fall 2007 was pretty darn good too).
