Synopsis

Teshima Hibari is a 14-year-old girl with a body that is more sensual than most girls her age. Her story includes the opinions and reactions of all of the people around her, as well as the actions of her own life. The chapters explore the thoughts and feelings of classmates and adults, men and women. The males often have romantic or sexual feelings for Hibari, while the women sometimes have feelings of inferiority or jealousy. Whether positive or negative, it seems everyone has a reaction to Hibari.

In many ways, Kan's friend hits the nail on the head when he questions why no one is there to help her.

The naivety displayed by Kan and optimistic view of everyone around him, the uncaring nature of her classmates, the disregard of the teacher and borderline jealousy from both the mother and girlfriend show how deadly sexualization can be both for children and for the adults ...

Mixed Feelings
The topic of this manga is very real to me. I always appreciate those who write about realistic issues, if the writing is spectacular it'll for sure make me tear up.

That being said, I was a little disappointed with this manga. Telling the story of Hibari through the eyes of multiple different characters to express the objectification and biases against Hibari was smart, but somehow I feel like it could have been pushed further? Whether that was through the art or writing i feel as if both could have been pushed a little further. Artistic choices especially can help a lot with creating a narrative, ...
