Thanks. And I guess the OAVs kind of count... somewhat.

I can see your reasoning behind your rating for Planetes, it was kind of a sad ending, and I also wished Hachi stayed behind with Tanabe. I guess my take on it is different. Even though he chose to go forward with the Jupiter Project, the fact that the show was able to fill me with those emotions and make me care so much about the characters is why I rated it so highly. I really did enjoy it overall, I just kept telling myself at the end "It's not like Hachi will be gone forever, he'll be back someday", and that helped satisfy me.

It's becoming rarer and rarer, at least I find, to end up coming across a show that fills you with such raw emotion and love for the characters. Nowadays it's all shallow moe-blob slice-of-life. I like slice of life once in a while, but that seems to be the flavour of the year. And what we're getting in recent seasons isn't going anywhere.

I have a feeling my favourite show of the year is either going to be The Tatami Galaxy or Kuragehime. Kuragehime is showing a lot of promise. Hell, it's Brains Base! I see you're not watching it yet, you should try it. gg is subbing it.

Basara is awesome for the characters and the over-the-top manliness it bleeds. It's not meant to be taken seriously. Honestly, look at Honda Tadakatsu! He's a FREAKING ROBOT GUNDAM THING! I doubt they had those back in the Sengoku period. I also doubt that Masamune Date spoke broken English and rode a horse that could jump the grand canyon, all the while wielding six blades at the same time. Were you expecting something deep?

Samurai 7 wasn't the best anime I've ever seen, but the characters really grew on me. Sure, the plot was lacking at points, but I'll admit I got all teary-eyed when Kikuchiyo played a big part near the end, and finally became acknowledged as a real Samurai, and not just some lowly farmer-turned-cyborg.

I'm glad to see though that we both agree that Rurouni Kenshin and Gintama are amoung the greats. Hell, Gintama is by wide reputation one of the most untrollable anime series ever, maybe besides Cromartie High School, which *just* edges it out I'd say.

My turn to complain: How could you only give Planetes a 6? Seriously? I understand how manga readers could score it that low, only by virtue of the fact that the manga is apparently superior, but I thought it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. The first time I watched it, I marathoned the entire 26-episode run in less than 24 hours, and I re-watched the entire series in less than 4 days *less than a week later*. I'm thinking about re-watching it yet again I thought it was so great, I've never felt so pulled in by a show before. I've also never seen a more realistic approach depicting life in space in any anime show that I've seen so far. Even shows like Gundam really stretch the bounds of reality in comparison. None of that in Planetes. Hell, technologically speaking, all of that stuff could take place in our time period, save for the fact that it would take a long time to build space colonies and massive ships, but *technologically speaking* it doesn't stray too far from what we have now. Maybe that's why I like it so much. Of course, the characters are pretty damned awesome, and very well developed.

See how tastes can differ drastically? Bah, I guess this is long enough...

Hmm, really? Well, thank you. Personally I'm a massive fan of Baccano, but I don't expect everyone to feel the same way. Also, lol, "Soup opera".

And yeah, Angel Beats was fucking awful. I will do a review of it, but as part of "Key Month", once I've finished After Story and watched Air and Kanon.
