| It's quite pretty to the eye, and I'm kind of intrigued by the story line. It's a little on the bland side, but I always like to give an anime at least two or three episodes to get going. |

| Top notch art wow. Watched it on netflix and for the first time in my life I thought netflix was finally worth the subscription XD. Story looks very interesting and really liking the story as of now. Also possible ship between Violet and the blonde guy =p |

| Putting all the pretty visuals aside for a moment, this was not very good. Violet is a highly unbelievable "emotionless girl". She acts like a robot, even though she is apparently human. This whole "omg wut is loev" thing is not very entertaining and a very, very old hat...and you use it for robots or aliens or whatever, but not for humans. About the Major, is he supposed to be a nice guy? Because he apparently trained a child soldier, which makes him a piece of shit in my book and no sweet words of his will change that. Also, why does nobody tell Violet that he is dead? Because he clearly is (unless they do an asspull in the final episode). Are they afraid of hurting her feelings everybody knows she doesn't have? This anime has a long way to go to become enjoyable, it should be glad its so pretty, otherwise I'm sure people would drop it left and right. |

| The art is beautiful it's visually awesome basically an eyecandy but I'm struggling to see the that one special thing that sets this apart from the rest of the dramas. It's only the first episode though so there's no hurry. |

| Stunning visuals, lovable main character, pleasant soundtrack; might be my favourite KyoAni show in a while! I expected Violet to be more emotionless and quiet, but it seems that she knows what she wants, and she's ready to argue and stand up to others whenever it's necessary. I love her already! It seems that this series will be an episodic journey of Violet trying to find out what are her feelings for Gilbert. It doesn't matter what her answer will be, I just hope he's not dead! ;_; |

| .....I just now watched 1st episode from Netflix...and I can only Say....HOLY S**T!!!!!! O_O I am usually fan of Fantasy, Action, Adventure, Shonen, Seinen, Harem and many other Anime's and Manga's...not usually watch Drama series (or horror) but this....this just grasped me and it will not LET me go Until I have finished this. What a emotional start. 2018 starts with so many Anime's and mangas that I am happy to be Alive, especially when now even real life looks like things might go my way. Thank you Violet Evergarden for making my day even better |

| The start of Violet Evergarden was a great way to start the new year. And as expected from the trailers. The animation is superb. After reading some info and spoilers from the novel, this will be paced slowly, and each episode focus on different characters or stories with the MC. I don't usually watch drama focused series and I'm not a big fan of it either. But the beautiful animation got me really hooked and interested in this. I am prepared for the feels. I hope this series will be a good one. |
| It was a bit too slow but then the build up at the end was truly tremendous. Her wanting to know what "I love you" meant. I don't really love the main character since she's too... Anime. Like the types that are almost not human but I will try to look past that. GOD BLESS THOSE VISUALS. MY EYES ARE SO PLEASED. |

Really lovely first episode and I do am seeing a pattern that these Netflix anime tend to be top notch in both story, pacing and quality! Really looking forwards to see what this anime has to offer! |

| My friend keeps on nagging at me to watch Violet Evergarden, so here I am-- back from my anime hiatus lol. First ep had a slow start but bittersweet ending. I hate how the Colonel drags on and doesn't tell Violet about the Major's obvious death :3 the longer he takes to tell her, the worse it'll be .-. but oh wells~~~ That cliché scene where Violet changed in front of the postal boy who blushed and got all flustered was cute, albeit an overplayed scenario in anime but it's one of the clichés that I enjoy seeing lmfao Not a bad start so far :) Let's see the hype |
| -Absolutely beautiful art! -Amazing and wondrous soundtrack! -Despite how Violet was branded as a heartless weapon, she's still human and some of the basic emotions are clearly there, just in a very suppressed form. She might have already understood that she had an affinity and attachment to Gilbert, but maybe because she was treated as a machine and not raised "normally" she isn't able to quantify the meaning and essence of "love" and what it exactly entails. That being said, she was already more emotional than I'd expected, and had already went so far as to cry in the flashback. It appears we may be in for a journey of softening her heart, developing her basic emotions, learning to self-reflect and grasp complex emotions, and ultimately being able to achieve a strong sense of self and self-realization where she'd be able to articulate her true feelings. -All of those instances of the Lieutenant avoiding the question regarding Gilbert. He can see her pain beneath her stoic and "heartless" exterior, even if she didn't yet possess the introspection to realize it herself. -Violet has an aura of MUST PROTEC even though she can also ATTAC. Great start. |

| I heard lots of complaints and praise before starting this. But I think I'm somewhere in the middle and weirdly enough I am actually drawn to Violet instead of turned off by her nature. People complaining about her type not being new, oh well, okay but the setting, tone, and atmosphere really wrap around this type of character and breathe a new life into her, I want to know more about her already. The only thing I'm a little turned off by so far is the bits of info dumping we get. Like I didn't need to be told about her being a child soldier, I could've figured the war was 4 years. Like I'm trying to not notice this but they're very obviously out of dialogue and observation. I can perceive this very visually KyoAni, you don't need to spoon feed it to me. |

| As expected, the animation is GORGEOUS. The colors are vibrant and it sucks you right in. You can tell many of the characters are going to deal with PTSD, great cast of seiyuus/voice actors. Obviously, Violet is going to be reunited with her brooch that's the same shade as her major's eyeballs. Benedict and Claudia Hodgins are awesome. Claudia Hodgins is currently my favorite character but I wonder why his first name is Claudia and not Claude? Violet is employee of the year for delivering mail late at night and murdering that tilapia on her plate. This series is going to make me cry isn't it? If I don't cry then I'm a motherfucking monster. I'm just glad that I'm finally watching this series. I meant to watch it when it first came out but I was too busy. Now I can binge watch everything. Obviously, her major loved her but is there more? |

| It's rare to stumble upon a show with such a strong first episode. We didn't see much, but that what was shown (especially the scenes of the past) can hit hard. And the movie-quality art just makes it better. More please. |
| The whole episode, I was just so impressed by the visual details put into this first episode alone! I find myself constantly pausing on different scenes just to take in and appreciate all the details that exist within the scene. Simply beautiful... Alright, so Violet, a human-weapon, a tool of the war that is now facing a whole new war. The war of living in peaceful times. If a person is brought up normally since their birth and then suddenly sent off for war, the amount of things to adapt to is incredibly insane. Here it's the opposite where Violet, a child who has been brought up in the war and fought all her life, now suddenly forced to adapt to a normal life. Oooh, I sense a great amount of potential character development throughout this 13 episodes show. Especially now that she stated that her goal (and not an order) is to understand what the late Major that cares for her so much meant by the words "I love you! Violet is undoubtedly cute though, and thanks to the number of details, her appearance quality is even greater, making her even more beautiful! I wonder how old she's at this point in time... 17? 18? 20? |

| This is going to be a rollercoaster, stories of war has always been that heavy on emotion for how reliant on love and loss they are, it makes you happy that we are on a time of no major global conflict. May peace always remain. Well, for starters, the animation is unquestionably beautiful, nothing to nag on that, might as well be the best-looking TV series I've seen so far, and I'm talking here about how amazingly consistent the anatomy and faces. Most of the show fall short on delivery a good artwork when it comes to characters, especially the uncanny quality shifts between direct and side shots on the face, but with this show, I never felt that everybody looked a bit unrealistically beautiful, no hard feelings on that or anything. Still, there were some tiny na-aa moments with CGI, let's just not go there. |

| Mesmerising Stuff! Animation is Doubtlessly Stunning and the Music Department totally Delivered too, especially during the start with the Letters scattering across the Sky there! Truly, an Impeccable Start! Rewatching this makes me wholly convinced now that this piece of art right here is the most refined and simply the most beautiful I have ever had the pleasure of viewing! It truly is .. Enchanting! Violet as a Doll lacking Human Features was wonderfully depicted and this is honestly one of the factors that made me love this show so much! Going through this all over again and seeing her mature as a person and a human, it really is a Journey worth remembering! Gruesome battle scenes there though, especially that scene of her limb detaching and falling off. I’m assuming she tried to haul the Major so bad with the impaled arm that it .. detached, and that honestly scares me. Lt. final words there of her finally showing some humanity was .. touching, to say the least. One of my favourite introductory episodes and it’s been a Great Pleasure to watch it again. It’s hard when I think that the animators and staff behind this wonderful production may not be here with us now or ever back to the industry, it really is heartbreaking. #PrayForKyoAni |
