| Usually if you are Naruto/Dragon Ball/Nanatsu no Taizai fan, do you will hear some people call you "anime fake fan" for don't like/watch animes like Fullmetal, Steins;Gate, HxH, Code Geass, One Piece etc But for curious, no one try to call me a fake anime fan xD |

I made a comment on an op quiz about not knowing a lot of op songs as I hadn't seen those anime and I got accused of being not being an anime fan/ Despite growing up on anime since the early 80's owning a number of anime paraphernalia and watching over 300 anime. All because I don't just watch "popular" anime. |

| Only once for saying I never watched One Piece, and the guy who said that to me never watched the vast majority of the anime I mentioned in our conversations, only the ones everybody watched or at least knows of: Dragon Ball, Naruto, SAO, Death Note, FMAB, Attack on Titan, Boku no Hero, etc. |

| I have never heard that before either. In fact, I feel like that insult would be for the opposite situation - where someone said they were an anime fan but had ONLY seen Naruto or DBZ or whatnot. Still wouldn't be appropriate but that would make more sense to me. |
| I have in the past for not having watched Naruto, finished AOT Season 1 which i want to go back and finish, for giving some yuri and yaoi anime I love high scores, and for not having watched a good portion of my ptw list. I want to watch a lot of these shows but ive been so busy with college and my job. |

| Never. Imagine calling someone a fake anime fan because they don't feel like watching a 500+ episode series lmao. Plus, thats a pretty stupid statement. The way people currently use fan isn't in the "fanatic" way. Basically meaning we don't call ourselves "crazy about this". The definiton of fan we use is "you really like something". So calling someone a fake fan or not a fan of something they say they're a fan of is essentially saying that "you don't actually like something", which is a pretty retarded statement. What makes them saying this even more ironic is they mention Naruto as an anime that if you don't watch your a "fake anime fan". Sure, you gotta watch the classics. But there are classics that are more widely considered masterpieces than Naruto. Like NGE. Or Steins;gate, FMA:B, etc. |

| No but I have called people (not directly) fake anime fans. Not for something stupid like the guy who called you a fake anime fan for not watching Naruto. I called them fake anime fans because they claim to be "true anime fans" or whatever just because they've seen like 3 popular shounen (DS, MHA, or AOT). To qualify as an anime fan you have to enjoy the medium and not just be into it because it's rising in popularity. You have to watch plenty of anime and know a few things about the medium. |
