-wtf is the monster's name
-alright so for sure this is the last week that the first OP is gonna be used
-interestingly enough, chariot's samhain incantation was a word of arcturus
-hanna-barbera laying down that shade
-sucy's neck cracking was super creepy
-lotte's super adorable without glasses
-teary akko makes my heart hurt
-constanze givin the succ
-that one girl in the plant act like died
-Diana looks pretty nice in a full length cape
-was that a greek mythology reference
-miranda's a bro
-I got some Little Witch Academia vibes from that sacrifice performance, which is more than I can say for the rest of the episode
-hmmm that's some weird fetish stuff inside the monster
-vajarois or whoever the fuck looks like a bowling pin
-I'm actually pretty glad Akko got disqualified from the running of being the Moonlit Witch

Pretty nondescript episode except for the festival performances toward the end, specifically the sacrifice show. Stylistically it felt a lot like the battle with the cockatrice in episode 1 because Akko can carry entire scenes just by being herself. The visuals weren't too shabby, either. During the scene, Chariot bails out Akko once again, and it just occurred to me that Akko has revived all 3 of Words of Arcturus so far only because of Chariot's meddling. I suppose Akko can't really activate them without actually knowing the words, and the only ones who seem to actually know of the words are Chariot, the 9 olde witches, and maybe Diana. I'm just kinda hoping Akko eventually becomes able to do all of that stuff entirely of her own accord in later episodes. The show's been pretty good at showing progression in Akko's magic over the first half of the show, and that sets it apart from some of the other shows I've watched.

also i'm pretty stoked for the new OP which we didn't get this week

What a great episode! This is probably the first time that Akko's group had success in something xD They did so great!
Wtf why were they disqualified? Diana knows that they were better than her, so she will probably give that prize to Akko. I think i've never seen Diana like this, she was so admired and surprised, this is not the Diana that we used to know. Maybe she will change now ;)
Ursula did such a great job, she is always helping them ;)
3 words were unlocked, 4 more to go.
What was that in the end?....

Well you know if Diana is jealous of anything, it is that Akko she can carve her own path, her own legacy, while Diana no mater what she does, it just be expected and follow the Cavendish blood line. She is just going to be another great Cavendish. While Akko ironic she is trying to follow Shiny Chariot legacy just like Diana is follow in family legacy. Diana can't escape her family's shadow, while Akko chases and tries to be in Shiny Chariot's shadow. Diana can't escape what Akko seeks.

I've never thought about it in this way, but as you refer it you are probably right.

With 4 more words to learn, I rather have a second season or at least try to balance out the time gap between each word in this season. From the looks of things, Diana will pretty much win every award there is in the academy while Akko will be overlooked for everything. In saying that however, there is a sense of Diana constantly winning the fight but Akko is the one constantly winning the war. Akko has seen countless failures in her time while Diana hasn't (if she had, she may not even admit it) and thats where her flaw lies. If push comes to shove and both these girls are met with harsh failures, you can be sure that Diana will have a much harder time coping with it because she is not used to failing.

Wonderful episode, was nearly all I'd hoped how the Samhain festival would turn out. Very glad to see Akko finally succeed in view of everybody else for once too! Although Diana may get the reward, this should net Akko at least a little respect around the school.

I disagree with the "pure jealousy" conclusion many come to with Diana, though. Did we forget her "what about Akko's group?" after being told she'll win? I imagine there's at least a bit of jealousy but I bet it's more of guilt than anything.

Great episode to cap off the first half of the season. Terrific visuals too.

Seeing Akko work hard is great, but it's still frustrating to see not get anywhere. At least she convinced Sucy and Lotte to embrace the fun of magic.

Glad to see someone one-up Diana too.

P.S. That one judge was really sexy.

Akko embraces her role as the class clown. So far, it was a passive role: she messes up constantly, and the other students laugh at her. Now, she actually set out to make everyone laugh, and that's why her poor magic skills were sufficient this time. This could be the thing that only Akko can do, or rather, will do. And considering how big her ego is, this is also quite the feat, as being a clown on purpose demands humility. And so in the middle of a festival where everyone else strives for perfection, Akko and her team embrace imperfection.

Ursula provided the solution at the end, but I think it's really cool that Akko stopped to consider the ghost's feelings, as I expected after the previous episode. I find the way Akko celebrated by bawling on her friends' shoulders both amusing and charming. Waaah we did it!

Lotte: Are we really going to get eaten? It makes me feel...
Sucy: Intensely excited?

Damn, they are not being subtle at all that Sucy's into vore.

Lotte telling Akko they can't always go off with her on a whim...you've been doing it without question this whole show!

Diana's bitches deserved every bit of that prank and more.

The guest witch audience is bored? Cry me a river! Maybe if this boring-ass festival would give them a little more freedom...

Akko, Lotte, and Sucy did a great job bringing life to the festival! The hideous blue monster got sexy at the end :3

seriously how is diana friends with these two bitches. Cant she see they are annoying. I was shocked that no one every thought to save this constally suffering ghost also now what they will do at the end each year and is it me or does this princess look like princess bubble gum from adventure time. I liked how diana even knows its bs to get that award and not akko. I cant wait for the next batch of episodes. I know its suppose to be more plot heavy then these first 13, but I hope it doesint blow since so far im enjoying it.

Amazing episode!
Akko unlocked the third word and ended Baharoa's (or however it's spelled) suffering. She was a cute girl before the curse. I really liked how Akko wasn't the only important one in this episode. Sucy's and Lotte's support was crucial. Poor Akko's transformations are nothing like Chariot's, but they're cute and funny nonetheless.
It was very nice to see how Diana actually wanted Akko to win. She's a good girl and I think she's getting sick of so many praises and high expectations from everyone on her.
I wonder who was controlling those weird and ugly flying cubes in the end.

The three protagonists are too funny, with their facial expressions and for what they manage to achieve during the narration. The plot takes further steps, soon the true story will begin; I like it, but the best thing about this show is the sympathy of Akko, Lotte, Sucy and the other characters. I also appreciated the sincere trait that exists in the dialogues, as on the occasion of the disappointment on the part of one of the special guests that spares no complaints against Badcock-sensei.

Akko's magic may not have been elegant, but what's more important is that she found a way to heal someone's pain with it. It makes me smile to see her pure elation after that performance. Akko's confidence when she walked on stage was really something!

I think Diana feels her growth. Perhaps she felt undeserving of the award, even.

It was a beautiful episode, I liked that her friends defended her when Diana said they had a bad friend.
It was good that Akko saved the monster instead of leaving him crying forever.
Too bad she couldn't win the award, but Diana knows she's the real winner. Everything was simply incredible and beautiful, an anime worthy of crying at some point.

This show just oozes so much personality, flair, fun, charisma, growth and charm and the episode was the best one yet in celebrating all of that. Akko had her Chariot moment in this episode, where the spotlight was on her and she was using her own magic she was working really hard on for weeks to entertain the audience and help them be inspired and appreciate magic all around. The metamorphosis magic scenes with Akko changing to so many comical looking animals were really fun to see and super smooth animation wise as well.

Diana's had to take credit while the spotlight was stolen by Akko for a second time now due to Akko being too unconventional with her methods/works. She's realizing how much of a real witch Akko is and how much she is growing without receiving the accolades unlike her. The way Akko acts in general reminds me of myself, as whenever I had to deliver speeches or do presentations or work on festivals in school, I would value the entertainment side to make it fun for others to enjoy while others would be a lot better and more serious, but have less of the limelight in the real moment despite receiving more accolades.

Am I the only one that noticed the Ancient Dances song in the festival resembled Native American powwow songs? 💀😂 Low-key felt represented. But yeah this was a good episode. But ngl I kinda felt upset when Akko's friends weren't encouraging her but had doubts instead. It made sense why Akko felt useless. I know to them she does nothing but cause them trouble but still. You never tell someone to just quit their dream. And it took them to get made fun of WITH Akko to help her. 😒 I'm so glad Chariot is always there for her whenever she gets bullied or when people have doubts. W Chariot/Ursula. :')

Akko really shows that she understands the importance of hard work in acheiving her dream, and that there is much more to being a great witch like Shiny Chariot besides intrinsic talent, the weeks she spends mastering metamorphosis magic is testament to that. Lotte begins to stand up for herself and her friends, being more outspoken, Sucy has started to acknowledge Akko as a witch, as well as beginning to warm up to Akko's bombastic, passionate, fiercely ambitious, and gregarious personality (much in contrast to Sucy's own). Diana has begun to understand the importance of passion and personal drive in magic, which is shown in Diana's inadequacy to Akko in non-academics. She's has realized that there is more to the measure of a great witch besides grades and prestige, and that the spirit of magic is why Akko outperforms Diana when it comes to any metric that uses passion as a major variable. I think she's begun to see the spirit that drives Akko with such fervor, even just a bit. I think she'll be easier on Akko from now on, she's obviously displayed herself to be much more than a loud, talentless witch.
