Dont worry she dies in the next episode and then something else happens. This arc ends in a cliffhanger and after a season or 2 of break we get another 24 episodes continuing with what happens after Admin dies in both UW and real world.

Novel is full of inner monologue and character developments and explanations.
I give u a brief example of Kirito vs Chudelkin.
Alice say she can only keep the Fire Genie off for 10 sec.
Kirito goes into thinking how he should kill the guy in 10sec w'o him dodging or just running away.
He think the longest skill he can use... it's Vorpal Strike... but even that is 1/3 of the distance he need to reach chudelkin...
then he think about how he never used any of his signature skills from Aincrad in here... any of the skills that Black swordman was known for...
then he goes into struggle and how and why he always hate and run away from his blackswordman persona... which also had a lot of foreshadowing before this, tho novel didn't point them out again but you can connect the dots.
then he kinda get over his trumas and decide he should clear his mind and use them along with Incarnation... and try to make the Range of Vorpal Strike 3 time bigger to 1 hit kill Chudelkin.
While he try very hard to use incarnation because of it being his signature skill of black swordman his cloth change and take his old aincrad appearance.
he signal eugeo to distract Chudelkin and use his incarnated Vorpal Strike to kill Chudelkin.
well these all take so long to explain in the novels. but what anime did ?
Alice say he keep it for 10 sec
Kirito yell and change his cloth
Eugeo distract and Kirito attack.
this is a simple example and i didn't even explain it all, there is many more scene like this.
plus stuff like why Cardinal decide to give up and why she even believe Quinella would let them go if she make a deal and don't help them and let herself die or how Kirito Alice Eugeo were thinking while Cardinal was sacrificing herself and how Eugeo come up with the plan and such... all is in the novel.
but anime don't show anything. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so the entire volume was just inner monologue? Crazy

Yeh, well while not my personal fav, it's interesting that it's one of the most liked volumes of the whole series be it the rating in amazon.jp or me hearing about LN readers favorite in discord/reddit etc.
whatever work i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ be it full on action or full on monologue, as long as it's interesting and fun enjoyable for the readers. lol
I was surprised that Eugeo becoming a sword wasn't a excuse for Kirito to pull his dual sword mode (I think I was hopeful, since I like it when he's dual sworld-wielding). The paralell between Alice and Asuna was lit.
I thought we would get to see dual sword kirito but alas, it was not to be; it really seemed as though that eugeo's transformation into a sword with somehow exploit the single sword rule... similar to Quinella's sword golem.
Anyway, can't wait for this finale, God, I hate that they confirm the episode total so late in the running; it makes for a really big let down -especially with it being a series that I've become so invested in this season.
herrickluk said: I knew this anime was shit, but this episode was just a new high in its levels of contrived bs. Cardinal dies for no reason reasoning with Quinella after it's clearly stated she can't be reasoned with, Eugeo turns into a sword and dies after he gets a sudden epiphany looking at jewels, Kirito does the same 'leave it to me' speech. And we know for sure, there's going to be revivals later on. Thank God it's over soon.
I knew i wasnt the only one...his whole season has been garbage, 1min fights and 20min dialogue episodes. Cardinal died for no reason, I dont see why Eugeo needed to turn into a sword....could have gone better if they asspulled it and made Eugeo/kirito an administrator too and have beat Quinella that way...but no all it takes is 2 deaths and a flashback for kirito to decide to save the day
It's funny I just mention it in my post here a few hours ago too how every time in every week so many ppl with 1 post count show up and leave a bad comment about last EP.
I could swear I heard the "I knew i wasn't the only one" starting line quite a few time before as well. lol
come on man. it's an anime. specially one that you are not enjoying ... it's not worth your time wasting so much... smh
ItzPikachuGirl said: BROOOOO. Did he really just die. Actually, when the opening played at the end I just realized there was a scene of Eugeo opening his eyes in a bed of roses, and then closing his eyes when it turned red. WAS THAT FORESHADOWING ALL THIS TIME
Bro, if you have watched this episode, you should know that at what time Eugeo appeared to be split into two, is there a human who can live from a wound like that? (think logically). If you ask is he really alive? I also do not know because I have never read novels from this series, whereas in this topic we discuss the 23rd episode if you want to ask about Eugeo going to die you should make the topic of discussion outside or surf on Google to find out.
The sword freezed both his body parts, so I'm gonna bet he's not quite dead yet, let's see
Sande said: So Cardinal dies for no reason while the others just sit there and watch and Eugeo turns into a random sword and dies too. OK.
That is exactly the same thought i had during that time. Administrator still continue attacking the three even though she said she will let them go in exchange for Cardinal life.
Eugeo die could be handled better.
I will be quoting parts/exerpts of some monologues from LN for the sake of people who were disappointed in the episode. The anime's subpar adaptation gave no proper reasonings for characters' actions. It is for improving the enjoyment of anime only viewers and not for the sake of starting arguments.
For people who were disappointed with Kirito not protecting Cardinal-
Kirito's monologue:
Minutes ago, I suffered a severe wound without even managing to land a hit on the sword golem with my sword when I tried. The cold sensation of the blade tearing deep into my torso had branded a strong image of defeat onto me. Fear coiled about my limbs and denied me from recalling once again the image of «The Black Swordsman» in this place. I had no chance of victory in my current state against any integrity knight, no, even against any trainee from the Sword Mastery Academy. Let alone slashing the highest minister; there was no way I could accomplish that.
If you want explanation for why Eugeo chose to become a sword (warning: it is long) -
Why do I lack power so? Eugeo was immersed in those thoughts alone while the highest minister, Administrator, burnt the sage, Cardinal, with monstrous bolts of lightning. The sword golem he thought as some grand demon from the land of darkness was originally human like Eugeo… certainly, he was aghast upon hearing that and shuddered at the terror that was the highest minister for thinking up of and carrying out that task. However, what struck Eugeo the most was the despair from his complete inability. There was a reason why they, Kirito, Knight Alice, the black spider, Charlotte, the highest minister, Cardinal, and himself had ended up in a fight against the highest minister on the highest floor of this cathedral. That would be Eugeo’s wish to rescue his childhood friend, Alice Schuberg, from the Axiom Church. Eugeo was the one who pulled the rest into this danger.
That was why he must be the one to fight on the front lines the most, the one to be hurt the most. —And yet, I. Ended up succumbing to Administrator’s temptations, pointing a sword towards Kirito as an integrity knight, memories sealed away. Returned to the highest floor after trapping Kirito and Alice in ice with the intention to take down the highest minister without anyone else’s help, which went up in smoke instead. Blinded Chief Elder Chudelkin with an art during that fight yet ended up doing no more than watch as the sword golem cut down Charlotte, Kirito, and Alice.
The highest minister would definitely expel Eugeo, Kirito, and Alice to multiple far apart locations. They might even be blown away outside of the Norlangarth North Empire. In the worst case, he might neither meet Kirito nor return to Rulid ever again. He might end up alone in an unfamiliar, foreign land, with the fear of pursuers from the Axiom Church… regretting his own foolishness and powerlessness…
Eugeo then noticed at last. That resigning himself to the fate of being sent away to a foreign land… would be the most disgraceful choice he could make.
The highest minister had said so. That she would produce that terrifying yet miserable monster in huge numbers and fight the forces from the land of darkness. That meant all families and loved ones would be pulled apart from each other. And they would all turn into hideous, horrifying weaponry.
Stopping that tragedy would be the final mission handed to me. I am here, now, for that reason. I have neither the swordsmanship of Kirito or Alice, nor the arts proficiency of Cardinal… however, there was definitely still something I could do. If I had the time to lament about my lack of power, I should be using that time to search for a way to fight.
It is obvious that the anime failed to convey the meaning behind many actions of characters. Hope this helps those who are interested.
The past few episodes were quite disappointing, especially the battles, but this episode brought some hope! Hopefully the second half isn’t rushed and has some awesome battle scenes
I just had to point out.. Administrator person has been protecting her nips for the entire time she has been on the show. Then it is revealed that she doesn't have any.. all the pent up emotion :(
S3 Even worse than S1, the story itself and directing is pepega at its finest
The whole S3 dont have the previous had.
the spirit and passion, also the strong sense of the scene and the whole anime.
this is like a random low budget anime.
also chibi and alice voice acting was so bad.

It's kinda stupid to protect someone by sacrificing yourself to be slashed without a weapon even though you are a warrior yourself. Alice and Asuna are stupid in that regard for protecting Kirito like that, what do the writers want us to think? That it is romantic or deep caring, for me that is cliché overused stupid crap that serves no purpose and tries to rile up a senseless viewer.
Wack episode with cliché events from the first season, this series is sinking in my personal taste. But I have no high hopes for the next episode.

All I can say was... What the fuck A-1. Why did I punish myself to watch yet another episode of this shit. How tf do they plan on wrapping this shit up in one episode, because there are so many plot holes. It's insane. And yea I get it, there is going to be a season two, but whyyyyyyyy. Just end it. Please. No more. Stop making more SAO. Dude this episode tho. The whole first half was just lame talking, then Eugeo just turns into a sword. W-wait. Did I just see that. Did he really just t-pose on us then dip out of existence. I don't get it. One other thing I noticed is that the art has gone waaaayyyy downhill. They are at the point where they decided to add an insane amount of effects just to cover up the low quality art. Y'all can get mad at me for posting this rant on a discussion, but idrc. Thats an issue not an issme.

What plot holes ?? And it's not a second season you mean 2nd half /2nd cour
sooooo... Cardinal just went full retarded and died for absolutely no reason at all while everybody just watched. This season was going very well for SAO standarts, but that was probably the most stupid thing in the entire series, and that says a lot.
I think I don't know wtf I'm doing. Maybe. Probably.
So uh cardinal dies to let them escape and then they dont bother trying to escape? What am i even watching?? And a spider joins Kirito’s harem??? This is like youtube clickbait. They literally spent more than half the show climbing this god damn tower. Such a shame since this started on a high note, but the second half has just been really boring and cliche with sprinkles of plot convenience and nonsense. And now its up to Kirito to save the day once again.
And these characters have all seemingly died about 20 times up to this point so I wouldnt be surprised if Eugeo and Cardinal manage to come back. Or just Eugeo since Cardinal was more disposable of a character.
Admin's outfit is the best. She's got a cute side too.
Time for Kirito to save the day and add Alice and Admin to the harem. Please Eugeo be gone and don't come back! I don't care about pipsqueak Cardinal either!
Shirokuza said: Cardinal challenged the Administrator to duel but in the end Cardinal lost and died. On the other hand Eugeo continued the battle by turning into a sword but he also died. Next Kirito will fight the Administrator.
Lol dude, it wasn't even a duel. She offered herself as a sacrifice, for what? Lmao

Couldn't agree more, lmao.
The sacrifice made no fucking sense.
Not even surprised Kirito regained his Jesus powers at the most convenient time and could stand toe on toe with Quinella--who was previously depicted to be ridiculously overpowered lmao
Unbelievable how weak the story is presented. I mean they challenge the big boss, call Cardinal and then instead of fighting she let herself get killed in order to protect them only so that they fight Administrator anyway. How stupid is that. And it is not really sad if the characters are just plain dumb. Kirito nearly letting himself getting killed is a joke, too. What kind of reaction is that...
And the big flying sword destryoing the golem is probably the most disappointing "fight" i have ever seen. It seems to be the general solution in this season that big fights are solved by just clashing with full power and the one with more motivation wins. Kind of dissappointing after the very good and high-pace fights in the other two seasons.
Maybe some people think I am hating this or something, but in the end I just cannot understand how they would change their style of doing fights from the first two seasons to this one. And why they do not take their time and actually tell an interesting story. Basically all new characters are rather boring and do not make me care at all. That was much better before.
Noooo Eugeo died, when he had room for grown and even a side story with her kohai, I feel sad and also Cardinal didn't had to die, she died and the deal the both of them had was meaningless Quinella kept fighting even after promising leaving them go unharmed, I mean I feel that all this was meaningless. Why Cardinal die if Quinella kept fightning afterwards, it was pretty possible for Quinella to lie, and then Eugeo dies and now Kirito will be on OP mode and defeat Quinella like nothing making these deaths even more meaningless, like do that first...
-Uhhhh Cardinal was ridiculously naive for the sake of plot... There was nothing guaranteeing that she'd keep her word, and it's not like Kirito and co would just turn around and leave after getting this far and going through so much. She should have just fought to the end. It's a very clear do or die moment.
-Eugeo D: What a hero. He died for them. Although, we have another cour and it's SAO so I'm skeptical that he's permanently gone.
This arc has had no character development at all. When past characters have died, there has always been so much impact, even when it was a side-character who was only in one episode, like Sachi.
I have watched Eugio for 23 episodes and felt nothing at his death. The new art style didn’t help with everything feeling so flat, but where was the full-on emotional music? Where was the final exchange between two friends who have practically been joined at the hip for 2-3 years, facing numerous life or death circumstances together?
This whole arc has just felt like a bargain-bin rip-off of the real SAO. The 2nd cour really needs to up it’s game.
Less pointless talking, more action. And Asuna needs to turn up at some point too. This whole show basically lives on the connection between her and Kirito.

why don’t you watch the next episode then come back. Cause it did have emotional music and got to disagree with you on this didn’t have any character development cause it did have development.
i go back to this thread to look how bad SAO:A.
im hesitated to watch SAO:A 2nd season from this horrible experience xD

Eugeo actually became the bone of his sword wow, also wasn't expecting him to return to normal, rip tho.
Still can't bring myself to hate Quinella, Maaya doing a great job as her va <3
Why did Cardinal sacrifice herself again? She was supposed to do it so Quinella wouldn't attack the trio... but Quinella does so anyway. Her sacrifice accomplished nothing.
The Eugeo scene was cool. It would have been even better if he was Kirito's sword in the final battle. Kirito was obviously going to be the final warrior (because Alice can't assist for some reason) so why not have the two fight together? It would make Eugeo more than a support character.
This will probably be a close battle... just imagine how much easier it would be if Cardinal didn't stupidly sacrifice herself.
