| yes and its more thrilling too because you need to be faster or else you miss the scene if you're too focused on the text. Most of the is pretty much accurate, while there is still few with outrageous but you can still pretty much relate most of anime fans aren't native speakers and even if the language is our own national language, the series somehow sounded a little bit dunno weird? So I prefer original with english sub and I still enjoy it quite alot |

| Yeah I can focus on what's going on. If a longer line appears I used to pause to read it first, but now I usually don't need to do this, so I'd say you just get used to it after some time. It's a hit or miss when it comes to accuracy. If you watch with official subs (or HorribleSubs' rips) the quality will be most likely similar to dubs. Some fansubbing groups make really accurate subs (more that official ones), but some are just trolls. You can go on MAL's anime page, scroll down to the "Fansubbing Groups" section and read opinions. |

| Due to watching a majority of anime with subtitles, along with asian movies and shows, I've gotten used to it. Generally I read subtitles fast and don't miss out on anything, of course i'm less focused on what's actually happening compared to if I were watching the series in dub but it's fine. |

| Awful. You do get used to it but still... awful. Nothing like a good dub. The amount of times I have to replay a scene over and over in shows like Grimgar when it was airing and Hibike! Euphonium breaks immersion and enjoyment and I am still obligated to do it because the visuals are so well made that they could use it to tell a narrative and you could miss out on it easily. The visual aspect demands your eyes wholehearted attention and the audio part demands to be in sync with the beat of the visual component. Not to mention that emotions conveyed by voice are much more noticeable and impactful coming from a language you know at heart. |

If the anime is especially wordy (Nisio Isin stuff, Tatami Galaxy, etc.) or the visuals have a lot more going on than usual it can be a little but harder to keep up, but overall I think it works out well. le_halfhand_easy said: Not to mention that emotions conveyed by voice are much more noticeable and impactful coming from a language you know at heart. This aspect is a bit of a toss up imo. While it can be more impactful, it can also be more damaging: If you don't speak Japanese you are much less likely to detect or receive the full force of overly dramatic or otherwise poor voice acting just as much as you are unlikely to detect or fully appreciate good voice acting. I can't say whether Japanese voice acting in anime tends to be good or bad most of the time, but if the majority of English dubs are any indicator of the other side, ignorance may well be bliss. |

| Depends on your reading skills. Heard English speakers have often hard time reading subtitles but in other countries little kids read subtitles all fine because there isn't a dub so you start to read them fast enough. There's actually theory that watching TV shows with subtitles as a kid will affect your reading skills positively. Same way every other TV show is subbed in here so it doesn't affect me that much. It's actually easier to understand subtitles than english dub. |

| Hmm, personally for me I got used to it over time, and I find myself also paying more attention to the show when it has subtitles because I can't take my eyes away from the screen. The only time subtitles suck when they are fan translated and have spelling errors such as when I was watching monster, but usually, I find them better because Anime does have a lot of still frames and well the Japanese typically have better voice acting than English dubbers. TLDR: You get used to it. |

An added benefit to subs is you slowly begin to memorize Japanese words and their meaning. I certainly can't construct a sentence on my own but I've probably amassed a vocabulary of about 100 Japanese words by now which I don't need a subtitle to understand when they get spoken. |
