If you have seen the Berserk movies, you would feel some of the concern that people on here are expressing.

Story sounds good, but that CG direction scares me a bit.

Ronja was one of my favorite stories when I was teeny tiny (needless to say, Pippi was my all time favorite. I wanted to be Pippi when I'd grow up). The CGI is scaring me away though, sadly.
Why don't Ghibli just make a regularly animated movie from the story? Seriously, that would be perfect!

its not a sole and full Studio Ghibli project, if they we're to produce this we're sure to get our traditional hand drawn anime movie, because Miyazaki Hayao and Takahata Isao would fight for it to make it that way ^^,

If you've seen Aoki Hagane, you would laugh at some of the concern people are expressing. It was obvious to see no matter what kind and how good of CGI they used for Berserk the fans would hate it.

Pretty much this.

Plus there are the CGI haters who have to comment on every CGI anime just to say how much they hate CGI. Not like anybody cares about substance anymore, they just want their anime girls to look pretty in the one artstyle they are used to. And don't anything DARE vary from the norm because their superficial minds cannot handle it.
If CGI haters can casually judge every CGI anime before they've seen it, I can surely judge and generalize about them too :)

Not true, but for me, the rate of CGI anime is increasing and I prefer the "traditionally" done anime way more, so I want to support those instead of the CGI ones. Tbh I'm afraid that in the future those CGI will replace the traditional ones..
I might still give this anime a try because Lindgren influenced me greatly during my childhood.
I don't really mind being superficial in that sense to be honest - I don't see a reason why I should support something that lowers my enjoyment by a lot.

Fair enough, at least you're not a hypocrite trying to make your reasons seem deeper than they are. Nobody has to like CGI.
For me though it's just another style, same difference as when I compare Kaji to Clannad or Tatami Galaxy to Mononoke or Aku no Hana to Kaiba or 80's OVAs to modern rom-com art. Sure, I like some styles more than others, but in the end the variety is what I love about the medium and I'm not disliking any style so much that I would avoid an interesting story or concept just to avoid the style. Closest I've come to disliking an artstyle is probably Clamp's overly long legs and arms, but I still enjoyed xxxHolic a lot despite that.
As for CGI, most of the times I've disliked it it was because it was poorly implemented and combined with the regular animation and therefore stood out too much in settings where it often felt silly (recent example would be Tokyo Ravens), but that isn't an issue for full-CGI anime so I'm not worried in this case.
I probably regret this post by now.

Although CG 3D is a turn off to a lot of you guys, it should still be trumped by the production for at least a watch.

On a side note hating CGI and not giving it a chance is the same as people hating anime in general because its animated. Things are coming along, it took drawn animation a long time to become as polished as they are now. CGI is not very old in its current use. Don't we fight enough in the Animu and Mongo community.

Please Goro, save the anime industry from otaku pandering and moe

Yes indeed, please "save" it from the only thing keeping it alive.

If you can count this vegetative state "alive". I don't think, Moe or the like is something bad(i like that stuff), but it's true that the industry is in a bad shape,as long as it almost completely relies on their hardcore otaku fanbase. Anime is doomed to stagnate in terms of creativity and originality(with a few exceptions, of course. I really respect guys like Ikuhara Kunihiko, Team Shinbo or Yuasa Masaaki for not only surviving in that industry but even being succesfull) as long as it's okay with being only an inbred Niche industry and not an art.

As ugly, as it looks to me in the most cases, CG anime are something great, because they are(according to my infos, that can be wrong) much easier and cheaper to produce. This allows new projects and experiments.

I am really looking forward toward this, because i think, a Ghibli Co-Production like this could be a showcase of a great looking Full-CGI show. This could be the first full-CGI anime, that doesn't look like an overblown Playstation 2(in some cases more Playstation 1)-Cutscene and could convince more people of CGi's worth for the anime world.
In 9/10 cases, the worst thing about an anime is its fandom.

I think the discussion of the direction of where the industry is going, deserves its own topic. I also hope there is a revival of how Anime used to be as opposed to the constant weaboo (sorry) garbage that has been flooding the pipes.

I'mma give it a shot, that's for sure. I can completely understand if people are turned off by CG effects or by reinventing old classics in any way, but as a native grown up with these stories, I feel obliged to at least give it a chance and see if it measures up. I think the entire idea of making an anime out of one of Astrid Lindgren's works is awesome. And by Studio Ghibli, no less. Yes, I also thought Spirited Away was overrated, but I had no complaints about the artwork.

I wondered at first why it was Ronja and not one of the more widely known ones, but I suppose it's because Ronja is one of the few with an actual fantasy setting which Ghibli seems to prefer.

actually no, i exploited the opportunity to campaign The Wind Rises and express my inunderstanding of who would even have thought of nominating PMMM 3 for an oscar when clearly it will lose to disney/pixar movies because it has more substance ^^,

This is not an insult, but I think your last paragraph isn't saying what you mean it to say. Unless of course you are saying who ever nominated PMMM3 for an oscar should have known it would lose because it has more substance the the disney/pixar movies.
