| One Piece after a break is always awesome, even more so with an interesting chapter such as this. As already mentioned by Hiyori at the end of the last chapter, the Smile robbed the people of their capability to show sadness properly. It's still kinda crazy to think that this fate befalled most who had the misfortune to eat one of the man-made devilfruits. Given that they were made by Ceasar, I guess it's no surprise that they are total shit. "Win" and you end up looking like a total freak, lose and you have to laugh for the rest of your life, this further cements Ceasar as the loser he is xD But who knows, it would be cool if it will turn out that the people of Ebisu can transform later down the line. And am I dreaming or do we really get some good old Zoro + Sanji badassery after many years? Let's go. |

| Man, this chapter was great. I hate Orochi so fuckin much, and Kaido is pissing me off as well. It would be interesting to find out how Luffy will reach when he hears the story of the SMILE fruit. And Zoro was pissed to no end. Sanji as well. Can't wait for the new chapter. |
| I'm far from knowledgeable about the Japanese culture so take the following interpretation with a grain of salt. The people of Ebisu seem to portray a certain characteristic you often hear about when it comes to Japanese people. It's common that they will always try to stay polite and SMILE even during stressful situations, even tho they feel anger on the inside. So these chapters could contain a social-commentary by Oda. |

| Oda you mad man, what a wild chapter that was, it got everything we asked for. It's very interesting how Oda chose that naming scheme, the waiters, the gifters, and the pleasures and even more interesting that the smiles retain their side-effects even after they've been bitten, not only that, but unlike legit devil fruits, they do taste good (as mentioned by the people in the flashback). I know we've all been waiting for this reunion between Zoro and Sanji for so long, probably a duo vs duo, Zoro and Sanji vs Drake and Hawking incoming. |

Eh I think you're overthinking it, Oda likes to keep things simple, all those 9 people are simply younger versions of the current scabbards. Kiku simply got a makeover once she stopped being a ruffian. As much as I would love to have a Whitebeard commander in Wano, I don't feel this is the best way to introduce him, besides, if Izou was part of Oden's group he would have left the Whitebeard pirates like Dog and Cat did to join Oden on the Roger crew. |

| "Outside the chapter's name, no actual smiles were actually shown during this chapter's production" - Shounen Jump HQ Also, we didn't have a Zoro & Sanji moment for about 5 years now, and this scene couldn't have been better without it <3 Orochi just surpassed DoFlamingo in my ranking of incredibly despicable One Piece villains that need to be heavily punished. He is grotesque even for Kaidou's own standards at that, what a devil. |

| The truth of SMILE, all those poor people. :( Poor O-Toko, she can't even mourn the loss of her own father. :( Loved that little flashback with the nine samurai but younger being reprimanded by Yasuie for trying to steal but neverthless he gives them the money and tells them to be stronger more intelligent people for Oden. :( Zoro was hella mad this entire chapter. Last panel was top tier. xD |

| Wow the whole explanation of the Smile of the devil fruits is a lot more fucked up than we think it is and it makes a lot of sense with the devil fruit villains we all see that all they do is laugh. Oda is seriously a god for foreshadowing this and the explanation is in this chapter. |

| Probably my favourite chapter in the Wano arc yet. I liked getting all the different perspectives on the events throughout the singular explanation, from Zoro's to Sanji's to Luffy in the jail, and the Smile Devil Fruits exposition was really good. The three different group categories, and how evil it made Orochi be, how he used those leftover Devil Fruits just to punish those on the outskirts is one of the most just flat-out cruel and evil things someones done in the series. And I love how it was then Oda decide to show Sanji's reaction, everyone being angered at this makes sense like Zoro, but I do like how Oda tied Sanji's moment specifically to the towns otherwise starvation, since it directly ties to his own backstory, which made the moment more effective. And having Zoro and Sanji appear once again finally after hundreds of chapters in this bad-ass moment like this was fantastic. And I liked how Toko's connection to Sanji and Usopp's jobs came back up, or Zoro's with Yasu, just feels like a lot of things paid off in this chapter for the dramatic rescue/unintended reunion of Zoro and Sanji. |
