Synopsis

Naota Nandaba is an ordinary sixth grader living in a city where nothing amazing ever seems to happen. After his brother Tasuku leaves town to play baseball in America, Naota takes it upon himself to look after everything Tasuku left behind—from his top bunk bed to his ex-girlfriend Mamimi Samejima, who hasn't stopped clinging to Naota since Tasuku left.

Little does Naota know, however, that his mundane existence is on the verge of being changed forever: enter Haruko Haruhara, a Vespa-riding, bass guitar-wielding, pink-haired psychopath whose first encounter with Naota leaves him with tire tracks on his back and a giant horn on his head. Though all he wants is some peace and quiet, when Haruko takes up residence at his parents' home, Naota finds himself dragged into the heart of the greatest battle for supremacy that Earth—and quite possibly the entire universe—has ever seen.

This is the best show Ive seen in my piece of shit life.
Didn't have any expectations going in, didn't watch it as a horny kid, didn't see it on Adult Swim in the early 2000's. Despite all of that, the breakneck pace shot past me so fast that I immediately watched it again just to understand what happened. This show is really a study of the central 3 cast. Despite many anime which focus on buff men, booby ladies, and mecha, フリクリ manages to subvert these tropes by having all 3 of them be flawed, realistic portrayals of maturity. Mamimi is the standout for me, ...

Mixed Feelings
FLCL is a one-of-a-kind anime, or at least something I've never seen been done before. It is very chaotic, dense and extremely fast-paced. It has a unique and very over-the-top style, jumping from one art style to another, one just as good as the other along with great BGM. But that being said, this isn't a show for everyone, and certainly not for me.

Just as I said, it's very fast-paced and so "extreme" it turns into a nonsensical mess of a story that is quite impossible to follow, except there's actually no story at all nor any kind of coherence and connection between the 6 ...

The story of FLCL is the equivalent of eating paint and snorting horse tranquilizers. The art style a lot of times looked like someone took a shit on their drawing tablet and posted it to all streaming platforms. The only time this show was funny, was when the school blew up or when Naota got ran over by the crazy bitch Haruko. This shit only makes sense if you are on drugs. I have never been more confused and questioned my sanity more times in my life than watching FLCL. Please do not recommend this to someone who has never seen an anime, because they will never ...
