The Kimetsu Matsuri Online: Anime 2nd Anniversary program announced a new television anime of Koyoharu Gotouge's supernatural action manga on Sunday. The new television anime, subtitled Yuukaku-hen (Entertainment District Arc), will air in 2021. The program also revealed a teaser visual (pictured) and the first promotional video.

Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the Cross) is returning to direct the new anime at animation studio ufotable. Animator Akira Matsushima (Maria-sama ga Miteru) is also returning as the character designer. The lead cast members are reprising their roles.

The Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Mugen Train) anime film opened in Japan on October 20 last year, covering the Mugen Ressha-hen (Infinity Train arc, also known as the Demon Train arc), which spans from volumes seven to eight.

The first anime season aired in 26 episodes in Spring 2019. Aniplex of America licensed the anime series and simulcast it on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu. Adult Swim's Toonami programming block premiered the show with English dub last October.

Aniplex of America released the first limited edition Blu-ray on June 30, and the first standard edition Blu-ray on September 29—in partnership with Funimation. The second limited and standard edition Blu-rays shipped on November 24 and January 19, respectively.

Gotouge received an honorable mention at the 70th Jump Treasure Newcomer Manga Awards for their Kagarigari one-shot in 2013, which became the prototype for Kimetsu no Yaiba. The latter began serializing in Weekly Shounen Jump in February 2016 and ended its four-year run on May 18. Shueisha shipped the 23rd and final volume on December 4. Kimetsu no Yaiba has a cumulative 150 million copies of its compiled volumes in circulation.

Ryouji Hirano (Bozebeats) published the two-chapter side story Tomioka Giyuu Gaiden in Weekly Shounen Jump in April 2019, and the Kyoujurou Rengoku Gaiden spin-off last October. Hirano also drew the 26-chapter 4-koma spin-off Kimetsu no Aima! in Shounen Jump+ from April to September in 2019.

Aya Yajima (Ao no Exorcist light novel) penned two novels under the Jump J Books imprint subtitled Shiawase no Hana (Flower of Happiness) and Kataha no Chou (One-Winged Butterfly) in February and October last year, respectively. Yajima published a third novel focusing on the Wind Pillar Sanemi Shinazugawa, subtitled Kaze no Michishirube (The Wind's Guidepost), on July 3.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in July 2017 and simulpublished it with the Japanese release in their new Shounen Jump platform. The 20th volume shipped on February 2, with the 21st volume planned for an April 6 release. Shueisha's Manga Plus service also simulpublished the manga in English beginning January 2019.

Kimetsu no Yaiba placed sixth in the male readers' category in the 2020 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings. The anime series was voted the best show at the 2019 Newtype Anime Awards and won Animation of the Year in the 2020 Tokyo Anime Awards' television division.

english subtitles that are not machine translation https://twitter.com/aitaikimochi/status/1360946555721818117

also the title is a giveaway that they will only animate 1 arc this time so good for 11-13 episodes
will it have better animation than so-called popular shows jujutsu kaisen and attack on Titan?

if you thought snk fans were annoying, prepare yourselves for the demon slayers
