^ I agree
We should exclude non-anime artists
I think we should get the entire list as well as an anime only list
Well I mean the situation should be if the artists is actually a part of the anime industry that works in anisong on a whole then include it, if it's a mainstream artist that just happens to be tapped for a tie-in song like AKB48, SKE48, Man With A Mission, SMAP etc. it just feels like at the very least there should be some notation since it's not really an anime song, it's just being used for promotional purposes.

Also holy shit 800k on that arashi cd
I wonder what it's about
Not all on the MAL lists are related to anime. Any artist that may have done even a single OP/ED are included, even if the particular single/album is not related to anime. Funny thing is that radio/game CDs done by seiyuu (they have more of a relation to anime since they voice characters and often sing insert songs/OP/ED) or do have a relation to an anime series are somehow excluded.
For Arashi's sales, they are all because of their brand name, as is the case for many other mainstream artists.
Same thing can be said for some singles or albums that are actually related to anime, such as BUMP OF CHICKEN's Kekkai Sensen OP, where the majority of the sales was because of their brand name rather than due to being the Kekkai Sensen OP single.
I still think including mainstream artist tie-in things in these is pretty ridiculous and that there should at least be some indication when it's a major mainstream monopoly type acts that just happen to have anime tie-ins like Arashi or next weeks Nogizaka46 which will almost certainly take the top spot and lead to confusion but oh well not like I figure a lot of people would care either way since they mostly just come in to do cheerleading.

Mainstream Johnny's band simple as that, it's like the male equivalent of one of the 48s. If the sales are over 100K in the first week just assume it's one of the mainstream bands.

OPM only 3K :'(
So what's good sales?
Is 5K decent and below that bad?

Surprised to see Lance N' Masqus so high!
It's by Suzuko Mimori after all
Quick explanation for those not in the know, she's Umi Sonoda from Love Live and pretty popular in her own right as a solo artist. Same with Emi Nitta in third place for albums who is Honoka Kousaka from Love Live as well. Might as well be a free ticket to the top of the anisong rankings, I mean the Love Live/iDOLM@STER monopoly is still only breaking for the main stream artists and even then not really in the case of Spyair.
Oct 27, 2015 10:05 AM by PeacingOut
Dat moment when the Lance n Masques OP has more sales than SPYAIR. :c
Well, it's not that bad, to be fair. Not as good as I'm A Believer, though.

Only just found out JAM Project did the OP for this, a cracking song as well. Haramitsu Renka just gets better and better the more you listen to it. Shame both are fairly low in sales. Expected though.

Another interesting thing i've read is here:
http://yusaani.com/news/2015/09/19/194023/
Love Live! apparently has an annual market size of 42.3 billion yen, which means that the number reported by Oricon in 2014 of 5.371 billion yen is just the tip of the iceberg. Clearly, Love Live! makes a lot more money from the mobile game and the merchandise sales, where Oricon does not cover in its overall sales by yen lists. This is obvious because many of the mobile game players are known to spend hundreds of thousands of yen trying to obtain the cards they want in game, or to have the best teams possible for the bi-monthly ingame events. The average fan consumption would not be as high as 109677 yen, without these types of players. The physical Love Live! stores that sell merchandise in Japan is also reportedly very popular with teenage girls.
Now the distribution of fans, which everyone pretty much suspected or knew...
30.2% 15~19 year old females
12.3% 20s females
*0.9% 30s females
25.5% 15~19 year old males
18.9% 20s males
*8.5% 30s males
*3.8% 40s males
55.7% 15~19 year olds
31.2% 20s
*9.4% 30s
*3.8% 40s
56.7% males
43.4% females
This overall male to female ratio differs significantly from the mobile game male to female ratio of 46.4:53.6, where it is known that female players love playing rhythm games. This kind of explains why Idolmaster Cinderella Girls got a mobile rhythm game, and the Side-M series was recently established, because Idolmaster is known to have a male to female fan ratio of 9:1. They want more female fans as I think the female fan market has the most potential for growth.
