The 31st issue of Weekly Young Jump announced on Thursday that Aka Akasaka's Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) manga will end in 14 chapters. The manga is expected to conclude its seven and a half year-run on October 6.

Akasaka began the romantic comedy manga in Miracle Jump in May 2015 and transferred it to Young Jump the following March. Shueisha published the 26th volume on June 17 (pictured right). Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai has a cumulative 18 million copies of its compiled volumes in circulation.

A-1 Pictures adapted the manga into three anime seasons in Winter 2019, Spring 2020, and Spring 2022.

Aniplex of America licensed the first season and simulcast it on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu. The company also released the season on home video on February 18. Funimation exclusively simulcast the second season and subsequently began streaming an English dub. Crunchyroll simulcast the third season as it aired in Japan.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English under its Shonen Jump imprint in February 2018 and published the 22nd volume on April 5. The 23rd volume will ship on August 2.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai placed first in the Comics division at the 3rd Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho in August 2017—a joint award by Kadokawa's Da Vinci literature magazine and streaming platform Niconico. The manga also won the 65th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category alongside Ao Ashi.

Synopsis
Considered a genius due to having the highest grades in the country, Miyuki Shirogane leads the prestigious Shuchiin Academy's student council as its president, working alongside the beautiful and wealthy vice president Kaguya Shinomiya. The two are often regarded as the perfect couple by students despite them not being in any sort of romantic relationship.

However, the truth is that after spending so much time together, the two have developed feelings for one another; unfortunately, neither is willing to confess, as doing so would be a sign of weakness. With their pride as elite students on the line, Miyuki and Kaguya embark on a quest to do whatever is necessary to get a confession out of the other. Through their daily antics, the battle of love begins! [Written by MAL Rewrite]

while it's not impossible, i don't think aka would rushing to make another project while he already has oshi no ko in his hand. maybe somewhere in distant future.

Thank goodness this manga is about to end. I can't believe how dragged the story is for so long. The main story was finished after chapter 151 and it felt like the rest was full of unnecessary fillers.

I may be wrong, but Aka has already made it clear several times that he is tired of Kaguya and that Oshi no Ko was even an opportunity to switch to another series. But even outside of that, it's hard for me to imagine a work like this getting a spin-off like Boruto. It would be tantamount to trying to unironically release a Titanic sequel.

Lol, with the exception of the story arcs, this manga was practically a set of comedy performances a la sitcom. I don't understand people who complain about the lack of plot in later chapters. It's not even Komi-san, who, being similar in genre to manga, just turned into SoL for the sake of SoL.

Uhh... What's the point of this manga, again?

"Kaguya wants to be confessed to"?
"The battle of wits and brains of love"?
"Love is war"?

Yeah right. It's like you said earlier that Aka is tired in this manga of his. Do you even consider that the current point of manga was just the same all over again? It overstay its welcome, just like what happened in Horimiya.

Horimiya was a story manga and the characters became a couple from the very beginning. What was the result of incorrect scenario planning (It has its fans, but I personally don't think that romantic shoujo manga's writing fits so well with shonen romance), but that's a separate conversation.

You're making the mistake of thinking that if Miyuki and Kaguya became a couple as a potential plot point, then the manga should have ended exactly at that point. Nowhere was it said that it had to be that way, and the author couldn't talk about what happened after, for example, if someone tried to break up their couple. That's what the most recent arc was about and I don't see a problem with it. It's a comedy manga with sitcom humor that has started story arcs at times and I don't see it as a problem as long as it was interesting to the readers or didn't bother the author.

So in these 14 chapters i am expecting a time skip where Miyuki & Kaguya are already married, Ishigami & Miko are a couple and Maki found someone

Wow, 7 and half years. Respect to the author for all his hard work.

The anime sure was great. Although, I haven't read the manga, yeah, I don't know. It's kinda... sad and cool it's ending. I wonder how the author feels.

He's probably having fun as he's finally able to write that ending he's been waiting for for like 7 and half years.

Some people may like it, some may not. I wonder what it'll be like.

I really don't to start to manga cause I'm waiting for the anime, but yeah. Maybe one day.

I would never understand people who complain about slice of life or gag manga having a long shelf life with seemingly mundane or directionless chapters. Like holy shit, that's the fucking point of SoL. The overarching story will always take a backseat over the comedy or the random events. If you're bored with it then stop reading, it's that simple. The beauty of SoL romcom is they can live as long as there are plenty of audience who still like the general aspect of the manga. The idea that a manga must end after the so-called main couple get together is sooo the 90s. Get in time with modern manga trends already.

"Modern trends" have nothing to do with it. There is a rule "romantic work ends when the characters become a couple", because after this point any intrigue or expectations drop sharply and the author can only come up with a fluff for as long as he can.

It is because of this that such things as the "official couple syndrome" appeared, when the main couple is constantly experiencing various problems or threats, because otherwise it will be too boring. Aka followed the path of Komi-san and Horimiya by simply increasing the amount of SoL and the focus on side characters.

I was hoping it would go on for a bit longer, but much more important is that it will end on a high note.

Hopefully we get to see shirogane's mother in these last 14 chapters. I feel like she is an important part of the story and having her reconcile with her family would be great.
