Damn too many things at once, I'm lost... in a good way...
I've been interested in Miyake Ranjou's works for years, particularly in Imuri (I mean, look at these covers!), so it's a delight to finally see one of her manga adapted. A Vinland Saga anime is a dream coming true too, even if it was just a matter of time imho.

what a move by Twin Engine man. to be able to involved on 5 project at once, just how much they invest to pull this off.

looks like after the CGI shitfest last year, no one brave enough yet to adapt Berserk again now, and here i am still waiting for a proper one:(

and also MPD Psycho, and Claymore again:(

Making adaptations of older properties?
That is a bold move my friend.

Ohoho I LIKE THAT!

And giving Vinland Saga to Wit? Dammit you sure knew what studio to pick!

Seriously all these shows are right up my ally!!!

Wonder if Dororo will go for a more conclusive original ending like I heard the old anime supposedly did.

I'm pretty sure I've played a game a long long time ago that was just like Dororo. Nevertheless I'm very curious about the upcoming anime.

If there's someone that can animate Vinland Saga's stunning art into anime, then that's definitely Wit Studio. I have very high expectations of them.
I suppose you're thinking of Blood Will Tell. It actually is a Dororo game.

No but it's a convoluted psychological series delving into suicide, particularly euthanasia.

They may be new as a company but are experienced as individuals in the business world. The company director brought people as ambitious and experienced as him to work there.

His goal is to change the way anime is done so that it is no longer a scourge to creators. He thinks of creators above all else.

sounds really interesting then! this whole series of announcements puts twin engine high up my list. it has potential to be a groundbreaking studio if they deliver on these projects!

HOLY SHIT THEY ALL SOUND SO INTERESTING

I've only read Vinland saga and it's great so I hope they don't screw it up...

I'll check out the other anime for sure when they come out though, the synopsis themselves make all of them seem very cool

As an actual Norwegian I've been avoiding Vinland Saga because I don't trust it to be even remotely "history friendly". I don't really mind artistic license, but Japan tends to take it so far off the map that their biggest fans are the Romulans.

TL;DR is it going to have any actual relevance to Vinland or is it just the first vaguely viking word the creator thought of when slapping together a (hopefully not) generic shounen? Is it shounen?

Vinland Saga, for one thing, isn’t a shonen manga. It is strictly seinen. To be fair, I am not well read on any proper Norwegian history books, but this series is about the Vikings, set in Dane-controlled England’s and the rise of King of the North Sea Empire. So, I would say it is pretty historical friendly, What with the attention to detail. If it’s still not your thing, then I suppose that’s it.

So no relevance to Vinland, yet it's called Vinland Saga. (Vinland was the Norwegian/ Icelandic viking settlement in North America)

Saga = 'story of' or 'song of'
Sooo... "Story of Vinland", but actually about England? This is why I have low expectations with anything the Japanese do in fantasy/ sci-fant/ historical

Well, that’s okay then. Not all historical manga is terrible tho, I love the details in Otoyomegatari for one thing, and for Kingdom, the mangaka really did his research.

Edit: Although Vinland Saga isn’t about Vinland in the truest sense, the author does seem to talk about the North Sea Empire which did truly exist. And follows the actual history behind it. So, no, it’s not about “Vinland”, but it’s also about actual history.
Additionally, you can’t really expect perfect history from any form of fictional media. For freaking sake, Memoirs of a Geisha which is applauded to be a great historical fiction is not true to its source at all. If one wants true history, read the biographies of history instead. (Which I actually do). In any other case, it’s nice to read historical fiction as it does highlight a historical event, which otherwise can be hidden. Sarah’s Key, for example, actually educated me about the roundup of Jews in Paris.

I’ll probably be watching all of these 5 intriguing shows!
Currently keeping up with Karakuri Circus and the first episode sure delivered! I hope Dororo of Winter 2019 will be as good and so will all the other three.
Most intrigued for Vinland Saga obviously though!
