In my opinion Emilia and his realtionship wasn't developed enough in the series to make him love her thar much and go to such lengths - and many people believe Emilia's characterazation and romance was a bit thin- that's why all the 'shitstorm' happened in that Rem episode. It is for me to say because that's my opinion on a character in a context of watching the show, not a real person. By the way I actually have Emilia in my favorites because 'I love Emilia' meme. I'm not on the Rem side or any side in Re:Z yet though. |

We aren't talking about three people who just met in something normal like a cafe or party, but individuals who literally forced to deal with life or death situations from the outset which reveals who is worth trusting and not. Those times were people make the strongest impressions on each other. Had those situations not happened and they met normally, I doubt any of the 3 would have relationship they do now. |

I mean, that Rem didn't fall for Subaru because they bonded, but because of the true character he displayed during the final loop of Arc 2 which completely turned her expectations of him upside down. Before then she viewed him at best an incompretent coward or worse a shady follower of a genocidal cult who ruined her life until the Shaman incident in Arc 2 came to an end. His heroism in saving the kids and then herself even when she thought nobody acknowledged her (inferiority complex) is what drove her feelings for him. Subaru similarity has an inferiority complex which helped strengthen his gratitude to Emilia. That said, we should stop here as this getting off-topic. |
