| Lawl, WTF @ this episode. I enjoyed it though- and I totally know where Eureka 7 stole certain ideas xD Amuro got bitch-slapped yet again, ya~y! And it's quite amusing how Amuro seems to have no problem walking around in his underwear. |

Th director was not happy with the episode and specifically asked for it not to be dubbed and released in the US, which is silly, coz it's no worse than any of the other episodes. In fact, I really enjoyed it =o I can't see what was wrong with it... |

It wasn't too bad despite some things not making sense and it fit with the themes of the series. I don't see why Tomino removed it from the English release. |

| I think the reason it was removed it because of all the recycled footage. From the core fighter docking to the gundam landing was not a single new piece of animation. Not to mention some of the odd moments. Like the scene through scene when the core fighter took off. Also...the Zakus looked terrible. |

| Oh, is this that episode that was cut out of the English dub? I didn't realize that. Well, it was okay, I certainly wouldn't describe it as "terrible" or anything like that. Really, the only real problem I have is why the hell the pilots were tied up. |

| Interesting episode :) But yeah i really want to see the story move forward, but it's not bad to have some filler once in awhile. At least we get to see some hand to hand Zaku combat! Doan sure kicked Amuro's ass though. Rollan seems like a nice lady, then she bright slapped Amuro just like that XD I don't even know why Amuro is assuming a lot of things. Then again he is young. Lol Amuro body slammed that Zaku!! So Doan killed the kids parents, but the guilt was too much to bear so he shoulder the responsibility for this kids. Next episode is gonna be ace!!! Can't wait!! |
| How come everybody's so down on this episode? I thought it was a nice, heartfelt tale. It also does a good job of re-enforcing that not all of the Zeon soldiers are horrible people, and some have more compassion... such as Doan, here. On top of that, this episode develops Amuro's character further. I really enjoyed it, and you people are crazy. |

| What the fuck are you talking about. This show has constantly shown us that Zeons are human's too and i would go far as saying that the Zeons have been shown on way more positive light than the earth government. This episode actually had the opposite effect because it showed Zeon's having some stupid crusade against Doan and showing Zeon soldier attacking children. Doan was also apparently ordered to kill children so no. I see people hating this episode here and i think it's dumb too (for several reason) but i think the real reason why so many hate this episode because they learned that the director hated it so they automatically hate it too. The episode 14 was really fucking dumb too but i didn't see people really shitting on it. |
| No shortage of clashes in this soul, the thing that can be seen right away is that Amuro, is as good as Nuvolari, whatever you drive brings out the best there is. Another consideration that can be drawn from the episode, is that there is a link between Sayla and Char, there's no doubt. The episode as a whole is quite addictive. |

| Yeah, this did fall under the filler category. Lot of plot holes about the two pilots. Besides the usual complaints, I don't see why Amuro and White Base not just take the Zaku and use it for either parts or to study it. Seems a waste to throw it in the ocean. |

| @FT_anime_fan Despite it being stroke out of the "One Year War" history both by the movies and the later manga revision (by the chara-designer), this character has received his own manga (as a spin-off the previously mentioned one) recently. So, it had probably a certain popularity. Maybe the reason why it was rejected from DVDs and BrD sets was that the director or animation director weren't happy with some technical aspects. @FT_anime_fan The manga retelling by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu (character-designer and animation director of a chunk of the series and the theatrical trilogy) is named Kidô Senshi Gundam The Origin (or Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin, for the superb english edition by Vertical). Probably the best way to follow this story because it both takes the "fixed" version of the movies without the ridiculousness of the TV version and the few good things who were only in the TV show, plus the art is flawless (so is the layout/direction). But if you mean the spin-off, it started less than a year ago and since it is publishe din a monthly magazin, I'm not sure it is very far. Its name is Kidô Senshi Gundam The Origin MSD ~ Cucuruz Doan no shima (Cucuruz Doan's island). This series has yet to be approved on this website. |

| It wasn't that bad, I mean it's not like if we weren't used to this kind of stupid shit at this point of the show, so if you have made it this far you should not be bothered by it. Im really hooked and enjoying it so far. Plus I get great laughs sometimes. But the show has really managed to surprise me in a positive way in multiple occasions since I started watching. |

| So, this is the episode that never aired in North America. Tomino thought that this episode was the weakest in the series, and thus it was never dubbed into English, because he didn't want it to be shown over here. It's not a bad episode by any means, but I guess that one would refer to it as "filler." |

| Doan was an interesting character, but this episode did feel stilted and awkward. I'm not sure what happened to the two pilots at the beginning. Amuro was off the rails at the start, too battle-hungry after experiencing trauma and victory. It was inspiring to see Doan take on the enemy Zaku at the end without a weapon. |
| I thought some of the ideas were additive to the story. A Zeon deserter atoning for his sins and teaming up with a Federation soldier. A Zaku and the Gundam standing side by side. It was weird for sure with the tied up soldiers and throwing out the Zaku due to the scent of battle, but I liked those general ideas. It also had some super pretty imagery with the sunset- Amuro's line about not being able to pay attention to that stuff was nice, and the Gundam standing in the water at the end. I was confused why the site I was watching dubbed forced me to watch sub until I saw the answer in this thread. Thanks!! Edit: I forgot to add, but another idea I found additive was Amuro accidentally shooting at children. It reminded me of Char shooting at refugees. It fits with the idea of Doan's accidental killing too. |

| kinda wish doan was a more important character. having an ex-zeon soldier on their side would have helped infiltrate the zeon operations because having a zaku would be more inconspicuous than the federation mobile suits. plus an ex-zeon that hates his old faction? would have been great plot armor... i was really hoping this wouldnt be a one off tbh i quite enjoyed it as far as filler goes. and as for the budget cuts, this ep could have easily been cut and replaced with something more important, in a series like this filler isnt important, not sure where the companies priorities were tbh |

| Sure it's a bit of a filler episode but also exemplifies that there's compassion on the Zeon side and also that some people don't want to fight and want to just live in peace after experiencing the atrocities of war. Kind of a chill break from things in my opinion. From my understanding this episode was removed from the dvd set and streaming services because the creators hated it (and maybe the fans too). It still adds a bit of dimension regarding humanization in the grand scheme of things. |
| This seems like the same island in which Nadia landed on with Jean from another Anime series. Boy, these island episodes are so pointless. :P |
