I believe it was kind of a slow episode, since a lot of the beginning was a recap, except it was offered at different angles/views. Otherwise, it has a pretty good ending. :)

Meh, a bit pointless, but we got to see deeper into how fucked up this whole process is. And maybe just the download I had, but that telescope scene was so blurry.

I wish they hadn't used quite so much footage from the first episode in this episode too, especially since it's a short series, but it had it's moments.

I thought i was either having deja voo or was watching the same episode twice for awhile there, too much of a recap but the ending was nice =]

I agree, I had to check and see that I didn't restart episode 1 again. I'm hoping every episode isn't 25% recap. Henrietta needs to learn that Jose isn't being attacked until Jose is being attacked.
Such junk...

lol I had to check to see if it wasn't episode 1 as well. However, this episode went so quickly. I've really enjoyed the first two episodes so far.

I watched this one with an anime club, and we all thought the guy had clicked on Episode 1. We had to check and make sure it wasn't.

So, yeah...again, too much recap. Not a bad episode, but I'm hoping the next one moves faster.

The first 5 minutes of the episode being from the previous episode kind of bugs me, but besides that, this episode barely had any development haha.

yeah aside from me thinking i was watching the first episode again for the first 5 minutes, the second half wasn't that bad even though it was quite slow and nothing much happened, except delving deeper into the whole process and showing some training between Henrietta and Jose.....

the ending was quite cute although her snapping every time she thinks Jose is getting attacked is like D: overprotective much xD

I don't mind that this anime is moving slowly, but I can't understand why you had to show almost half of the first episode in the second. They could have at least changed the perspective to make if feel fresh and flesh out the characters more.

I think they recapped a bit to much here. Though they talked about the process a bit so that was helpful. It also shows shes to protective of jose.

The waiter was only a couple of inches away from death. Death by steak knife >.<

I feel so sorry for these kids. I have a nagging feeling Henrietta will be disposed of soon and Giuse will not take it lying down.

So much exposition and flashbacks... kinda mind-numbing. Actually... painfully mind-numbing.

Easy decision dropping this. Only 13 eps but that seems like a slog.

SURE

GREAT WAY TO START THE EPISODE

LET'S SHOW ENTIRE 30 MINUTES OF THE FIRST EPISODE BEFORE WE SHOW THE REAL CONTENT OF EPISODE 2 WHICH IS LESS THAN 1 MINUTE

did they use way too much money on the shooting scene??

this show is GOOD though when it comes to creating the mood, and it has GOOD music to accompany it
the music in the restaurant was CLASS

This episode was a little disappointing. Essentially, the first third of this episode an exposited version of the entire first episode. We then see that Guise is trying to be fatherly to Henrietta- presumably unlike his coworkers. This information was already established last episode! I'm guessing all the recap it was to help boost the length of the anime.

I really like this episode, despite the excessive recap. I actually appreciate the slow pacing. This episode was so simple, yet so heartfelt.

I know a lot of people think that there wasn't much character development during this episode. It is true that it has no massively dramatic moments of character realizations and relationship movement. I note, however, that many of the most meaningful moments of life pass almost unnoticed; they involve the simple things. Many other action/drama anime seem to focus more on the emotional outcome (that is presented in some emotion-wrought verbiage, or wild screams while in combat) and leave out the simple events that drove the emotion. Gunslinger Girl (so far) shows the simple events and skips the angsty outpourings. It is a completely different approach, one that I find refreshing and effective. In this case, the audience is not led by the displayed emotion of the character ("Oh, they seem sad now. So I should feel sad too. Why are we sad now?"). The audience feels the emotional drive in real-time with the character, so the character does not have to show it in unrealistic ways for the audience to understand.

I also very much appreciate that the show has remained neutral on the morality of the girls' assassin training/use. It does not seem to portray the stereotypical evil organization drunk on power that the little "girl" must fight and overcome. I think that this provides some needed grounding for the series, which otherwise might suffer from too unbelievable a premise (they have such advanced brainwashing techniques and biophysical modifications... but they are still driving in normal looking cars and shooting normal looking guns). Reality is rarely black and white. Real people doing real jobs are complicated.

Wow. To be fair, I'm stunned; this episode was nowhere near as bad as the first one. There was actually some solid direction and visual language that kept the episode interesting. There was also almost none of the pointless, excessive exposition nobody cares about.

Awww he's just like a dad want to make his daughter happy
I mean she doesn't have anyone anymore, which probably make him like that :(

I wasn't expecting a recap at only episode two. Plus, it made a good use of empty space, it felt like it was just as much not talking as it was talking. Hopefully this is just a one time stunt. It'll be rather disappointing if a third of each episode is recap.

This guy, trying to snipe aliens. For being rather dark, and dry, there are some surprising bits of humor in this.

After finishing the episode, a lot of the recap seems to have been structure that way as to help build Henrietta's character. For the most part we are just seeing her perspective of the events that just happened. So, it wasn't all that bad.

Second episode is a bit weird.
It shows most of the 1st episode with a few bits extra, no idea why they did this.
From now on it gets better.
