Publishing company Kodansha announced on Tuesday that Hajime Isayama's Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) manga will conclude in the May issue of Bessatsu Shounen Magazine on April 9, after 11 and a half years run.

The publisher also announced that the editorial department of Weekly Shounen Magazine is planning multiple projects trailing the manga's completion. The February issue of Bessatsu Shounen Magazine, which goes on sale on January 9, will feature the manga on its cover.

Isayama launched the fantasy post-apocalyptic manga in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in September 2009. Kodansha published the 32nd volume on September 9 last year, with the 33rd volume planned for release on Friday (pictured). The 34th and final volume will ship on June 9. Shingeki no Kyojin has a cumulative 100 million copies of its compiled volumes in circulation worldwide.

Wit Studio adapted the manga into 25-episode television anime in Spring 2013. Pre-production of the second season began as early as 2014, which aired in Spring 2017. The third season debuted in Summer 2018, with its second half premiering in Spring 2019.

Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season (Attack on Titan Final Season), produced by animation studio MAPPA, began airing on December 7 last year, and is scheduled to run for 16 episodes. Crunchyroll and Funimation are simulcasting the anime with subtitles.

Kodansha Comics licensed the manga in English in October 2011 and published the 32nd volume on December 22. The 33rd volume is planned for an April 27 release. The manga has also been published in multiple foreign languages, including French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and Chinese.

Funimation licensed the anime series in North America and distributed the first season in two Blu-ray and DVD volumes in June and September 2014. The second season was released on a single volume in February 2018. The third season was shipped in two home video installments in August 2019 and last March.

Shingeki no Kyojin won the 35th Kodansha Manga Awards in the Shounen category and was nominated for the 4th Manga Taisho awards in 2011, as well as the 16th and 18th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. The manga also placed sixth in the male readers' division in the 2014 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings.

Hopefully the whole manga gets adapted because 16 episodes is too little. What an amazing franchise.

Finally. I admire this manga, but my interest kinda dwindled after all the mysteries was solved. I'm a bit behind these days, but still looking forward to the ending. So near.

Yeah, but I am talking internationally, not just in Japan. But yeah, maybe after a decade or so, DS might become more popular, even outside Japan.

Dumb question, there can't ever exist such thing as "the best". Imagine if I say something stupid as "Yotsubato! is better than SnK!". Both manga are fundamentally different and can't be compared on most fronts. For something to be the best, it has to be better than the rest in everything, which is impossible.

The end of an era. I was wondering how will they pull this off when current anime is titled "The Final Season", yet manga is still going. Looks like we have an answer.

Being in the fandom has been the most memorable part of my life in the past 3-4 years. I'm happy and sad at the same time looking at my favorite story wrapping up in a few months. I'll miss the monthly hype, the new memes, and theories. Thank You Isayama-San, Thank You Attack on Titan for kinda shaping my personality. I guess it's time to move forward in life.

I don't know what to say really..... I have been following this series for 7 long years, following the monthly manga at the beginning of every month for 7 long years to the point its now apart of my life and now after April, that will all be over.....

I am glad that I was apart of this series, being involved in the discussion and theories and just overall with the fanbase, its been a long ride but all good thing must come to an end.

I hope for an impactful ending!

Dedicate your hearts one last time! Isayama you can finally have your well deserve rest.

139 is the ending chapter,

Those people were right. This series obsession with 13 years and 9 titans was right.

Well, Isayama really pulled a big one on us.

I feel like they will not make Final Season part 2 but instead they might end it with a movie. The final fight is so big and they need a movie budget

No other anime or manga has kept me invested so much for this long. For everything else I was really into in my life I would lose interest by the time it ends or simply as a result of time. But AoT never let my attention slip away over the past 8 years I've been following it. Whether the ending is good or bad, this will forever be my favorite manga simply because of countless hours spent reading it, discussing, meming and theory-crafting about it can never be erased.

Let me be honest, I am glad that SnK manga is finished and it actually has an ending unlike One Piece because to be frank, I hate those things that never end, there's nothing more sad than something that never ends and then you gradually loose interest in it, especially if its something as amazing as SnK.

All good things come to an end. And Shingeki no Kyojin is more than just good so it's a little hard to take this in but we've still got 4 chapters to go and hopefully the manga will sign off on a great note and deservedly put this series into the legendary tier then. Thank you Isayama-sensei for this wonderful monogatari!

And possibly more Shingeki no Kyojin, hell yeah! Can't wait to see what Kodansha's got in store for us next.

It'll be hard to not get any more chapters after april but I will be happily be looking forward to his next work.

It's crazy how this manga kept serialization for this long without ever going downhill in its latter chapters like most other manga do. Naruto may still have a special place in my heart but I would recommend this manga/anime over it any day. There is no manga more blessed than this one for having Isayama, Araki, Sawano and Imai work together to create such a masterpiece. Such miracle may never happen again but we can only hope.
Goodbye Shingeki no Kyojin, you will be dearly missed.

Also I hope Eren ends up with either Mikasa or Historia (or Annie) holy shit I can't chose all of them are top-tier Roflmao

Do you even read One Piece, lmao. Because the story advances, quite a lot in the past couple of years.

Regarding SnK, I just hope the ending is as the author wanted it, because we know editorials love to put the possibility of sequels or pretty endings so people end in a happy note, even if it doesn´t make sense for the series.
