'Yami Shibai' Gets 14th Season in Winter 2025

Television station TV Tokyo announced a 14th season for the Yami Shibai (Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories) horror short anime series on Friday. The official website also revealed the staff, cast, and a key visual (pictured). This season will feature urban legends stories related to the theme of "Greed," and will premiere on January 5 at 2:50 a.m. on TV Tokyo.

The first Yami Shibai season aired in Summer 2013. Crunchyroll has simulcast each season with English subtitles. Sentai Filmworks licensed the first two seasons in December 2015 and released them on home video the following April. The latest season, Yami Shibai 13, aired in Summer 2024.

@eze_tielve Well, I wouldn't be surprised if very simple animation also plays a big role in this. But 14 seasons, man? Their narrator will soon be in more anime than Conan, Ash and Luffy. And just think, this anime has already been around every year for 14 years.

@RobertBobert It also helps that it's very shortform episodic horror. Cut everything up into 5 minute chunks of dread and there's no struggle to come up with new content.
