Oh my God... Poor Poor Tanigaki, such a sad backstory ;_;

This backstory was so well done, the music was on point and the feels were so strong. At least Asirpa was there to calm us down, she's adorable <3

These past 2 episodes have been really good. I thought that season 2 started off a little weak but this has definitely made up for it. That backstory was really well done and very emotional. Hoping Golden Kamuy keeps up this quality until the end.

That was a great back story!

Genjirou chasing revenge for her sister, only to find out Kenkichi didn't murder her sister for the sake of it but because she willingly consented to it. What a teary story man, especially when he was about to die and Genjirou made it more sentimental when he gave him his own village's cuisine. I'm glad he remembered him.

Now that they've found Asirpa's gang I wonder what's gonna transpire next.

Great episode again,

I'm speechless, what a great episode! Probably the best episode, so emotional...
Poor guy, he had to live his life with the burden that he killed her :/

I never know what to expect from this anime, it has a lot of great comedy but you never know when episodes like this will strike.
What an amazing episode.

What a powerful and emotional episode. Thank goodness Asirpa was there at the end bringing a little bit of lightheartedness with her dance.

This episode was simply powerful and emotional in every sense. It was almost entirely a backstory of Genjirou, but his story was very powerful and tragic.

His mission was one filled with revenge after he lost his sister and that led him to the front lines of war against the Russians, where by chance, he encountered Kenkichi, who he was searching for all this time, lunge himself at the suicidal Russian to save his fellow soldiers from the bombs.

Then after finding his bloodied body, still breathing, Genjoru finally gets to hear Kenkichi's story as to what happened before he passed away due to his injuries. This scene made me shed a few stars, thanks to the delivery of the story, perfectly-timed soundtrack and visuals.

And thus, the episode ended of a happier note with Asirpa's crane dance. She never fails to put a smile on my face. =)

Best episode of Golden Kamuy to date. Simply outstanding. ^_^

Damn, beautiful backstory, beautiful flashback, beautiful episode, beautiful anime

This backstory is right there among one of the best backstories like Homura's (PMMM)

Tanigaki feeding his dying friend got me, such a beautiful scene, he instantly realize it was him

What worries me tho is does this mean Tanigaki will betray them? Especially when Tsurumi told him he needs him, I know that's a flashback and all but it's gotta means something at this point right? It's foreshadowing a betrayal

This flashback episode for Tanigaki was really compelling and adds a lot to his character, but it feels kinda weird to disrupt the show's momentum so drastically for it.

Not only Tanigaki's backstory was amazing, but the fact that Tsurumi sat there listening carefully to all of it says a lot about him too.

Oh it's only Tanigaki's backstory, poor Fumi having smallpox can really make you be shunned by the entire village, and his husband has to bear the pain that he has to do for her.

Oh my heart. TT___TT

Tanigaki needs lots of hugs and pussy... or dick. He could like them both. Who knows?

Tanigaki is one of my favorite characters especially with his magnificent bushy eyebrows, his dialect, his hunting abilities and his personality. I loved learning more about his backstory.

He loves his family so much, wanted to get revenge for his sister and his mom passed away from heartache. My poor boy. I wonder how his life would have been if he didn't join the 7th division. That part where he put a piece of kanaemochi in Kenkichi and when he started crying, that hurt the most.

Also, I'm glad that they reunited with Asirpa and Sugimoto.

They adapted this really well. When people talk about 'feels' every time someone cries or dies in a show, I'd like to refer them to this episode to see how it's done without over the top manipulation and just with good storytelling.

Tanigaki's backstory is pretty incredible and sad, damn to think that he chased his friend all the way to the battlefield with only revenge on his mind and than it turns out his friend was just acting as an evil guy so Tanigaki's family wouldn't be shunned.

What an amazing episode holy shit, this definitely felt like the best episode so far. Seeing Tanigaki's backstory definitely cemented him as one of the best characters for me. That backstory was something else, poor Kenkichi he had to live his life bearing that guilt, Kenkichi was a hero. That Asirpa dance at the end was a good way to ease the pain of that backstory, I am going to say it again but, that was an amazing episode.

Holy shit. What was this? Suddenly its turned out to be so sad! Its about Tanigaki Genjirou's role, that led him into an unexpected sad bittersweet history! A past story, being a reason of his decision to be a soldier!

How funny with their close relations, even from the very first beginning. The witness that lives to tell a tale from Russo-Japaness war. Tanigaki found Sugimoto in the war zone (eventhough they did not acknowledge and remember each others), Ogata with his spy members, and more importantly, Tsurumi. Tsurumi brought Tanigaki another roles, into his own loyalty, that survived until their current situations.

What a complicated story they had. But, its surely a fate that led him into this kind of adventurous conditions. It was supposed to brought them back into their old self, their own true self. Its to destined their own roles to be a better future of them!

The end scene must be brought back another misunderstanding. Tanigaki always meant to save Asirpa from the betrayer that mentioned in the previous episode by Inkarmat. However, he did not know the third people that worked together with Asirpa was Kiroranke. Since in his sight just Ogata, he did not trust him, he might just discarded and nevermind the others. As soon as they've met, he might pointing him out as a betrayer as soon as possible. Its kinda overwhelming. But, everything could be turned out into a bad situations from that shit. So, lets see the next one, then. How touchable their meeting after a long time never seen each others. Lol

Rewatching this show currently in preparation for the new season and this episode still hits quite a lot. Such a great and heavy, tragic backstory episode as a whole for Tanigaki. Definitely the best episode of this series 18 episodes in currently, although the previous one was pretty awesome in a different way too.
