Who's your oldest MAL friend? Do you still talk to them or are they just there on your friends list?
| When I mean oldest friend, I don't mean like join date for MAL or irl age. I mean the person you're been friends with since day 1 on MAL, I guess? For the second question, Are you guys still active with each other like PM-ing or etc? Or did they go inactive for a long time or something. |
| I don't think I was friends with them day 1 but they were my first friend here. He kind of gave up on mal a year or two ago, but he still comes on every so often to post and talk in pms. It's not perfect, but it's better than never hearing from him again. |

| I kind of forgot how we became friends, but I think it was because he replied to my introduction thread two years ago? Since then we've been friends, and we talk through PMs. I didn't go on MAL for a full year last year due to, uh, irl problems, but I started using MAL again two weeks ago, and we started PMing each other again. Yeah, I'm happy we're friends :p |

| my oldest MAL friend would be Utawarezen and man is that a story. 2008 The dude was 2 years older than me, i was 14. for some reason i looked up to him He dropped out of highschool, He had drinking problems, suicidal tendencies and vented to me about his abusive family a lot. One day he just deleted all his accounts. Told me he was goin' off to college, I really am not sure if he was telling the truth. weird to think about a very one sided friendship really. |

| Even tho i joined the site in 2008 I don't think I added anyone til 2010 who's actually a friend irl, then in 2012 another irl friend lol Was only in 2013 when I became a forum mod and went on IRC that I talked to more people and became friends with a lot more people. I think looking back in history it kinda shows how I changed over time too. From 2008-2013, I was kinda the lone wolf kinda guy til I had to be social as a forum mod and eventually has a huge list now. Hmm. |

I had a friend who used MAL before I joined MAL myself, though the last time we talked to each other was the beginning of this year, I think... :v Anyway, I was mostly a lurker on MAL 2 years after I joined, so I didn't actually start posting in the forums all that much until 2014 or so, which I think was the year I made my first friend through MAL. The last time I spoke to that friend was at the beginning of last year. Real bummer, tbh |

| I'm not sure about the Term "Friend" in General, so I would prefer something like "good/sympathetic Acquaintance". The very first ones I had and have, were the ones who had brought me here in the first Place. I didn't use MAL to talk to them in the Beginning, though. At some Point or other, they had removed me from the List. Then we came briefly into Contact again and I was re-added (but not everyone did). We haven't been in Contact mainly because I didn't want to use a Chat Program and there wasn't any Incentive on either Side to keep a Discussion on-going or to begin new ones. As for my oldest good Acquaintances made on MAL, I still talk to some of them from Time to Time, but almost exclusively on Forums. |
