THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Hmm, I think the first episode was interesting. The CGI stuff was distracting but besides that, I think the show built itself with its world setting in a way that I found pretty curious.

Surprisingly good soundtrack so far.

From the character cast, they introduced Sana, Zouroku, Hinagiri twins, etc. There's a feel of mystery in the air as well especially with Sana. I'm curious to know about her more. Between Zouroku and Sana, I like their character chemistry so far.

Holy 44 minutes! Oh yes, now this has quite the potential to be good as I thought it might. Both leads are interesting, likeable, and should be fun to see work off each other.

Like the others have said, the show has potential, interesting story and characters. Gave it a 4 out of 5 because of that CGI chase.

Guys come on, how did you not Notice the moving Scenery after the Car stopped? ;D

That was soo low budget production like.
The old Guy jammed the Brakes and stoped the Car aside the Road, still the Scenery was moving until they levitated xD

Gotta love low Budget Productions, also the Audio in the Beginning (rain) was horrible (scratchy).

Did not know that this was going to be 40+ minutes long =o

This was really really good though.....Zoroku and Sana play off of each other so well and given how great Zoroku is (Like seriously this old man is so cool and so admirable man....His maturity, wisdom and personality areso great) I can already see that the characterization and development between them will be a joy to watch

The story isn't anything new but it is pretty interesting and in a sense kind of messed up too since this organization (That looks to be sanctioned by the government) are essentially experimenting on kids but what's interesting is how they can warp reality....It's nice that they have a limit to how much of this power they can use though and that they have to recharge so that's a nice handicap

Gotta say though, apart from the CGI stuff which honestly has no place in this series and just looks weird, the visuals and designs aren't half bad and the same can be said for the OST (The ED song was fitting too)...Animation was decent and I liked the fight scene (LMAO at how The Master Hand from Super Smash Bros lost the gloves, aged a bit and joined this anime xD)

Overall it was a great watch and a good showing for the new series of the Spring season....I'm curious to find out more about the third party in this series though...The one with the girl in the van and the black haired girl that saved Sana

Also, does anyone know if this manga is completed? Because it would be even better if we got a full adaptation for this series....Also I wanna mention how much I really appreciated how intuative Zoroku is.....Every little detail with him is so carefully planned out man (Like him ditching the car for example) and I thought that these things were pretty cool to see

The only thing that's for sure is that the CG was horrible. Pretty ok first episode, not much to say.

is the 44 min episodes a one-time special for the 1st ep, or are all episodes going to be this long? Interesting...

Didn't expect the episode to be 40 minutes long.
So far, I like it and I will keep watching it, the animation is OK (not bad, could be better), like the idea and I want to see how their relationship with each other will grow.

Honestly, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this, but so far it's definitely caught my attention and is yet another example of how a show can really benefit from utilising the double-length premiere; while this would have worked well enough as two separate episodes, it definitely flowed a lot better as one. In any case, Sana and Zouroku already have a good chemistry going, and I'm interested to see how well this show can continue to utilise the contrast between their regular life and all the stuff with the research facility, although irrespective of that I'm curious to see how the show handles that particular plot thread. There's definitely potential here, that's for sure.

ED is nice and catchy, definitely reasonably appropriate for the tone of the show so far.

Wow wasn't expecting a 44 min episode! Love the chemistry between Zouroku and Sana! Both characters are likeable and I'm enjoying the story!
So glad that I'm not a huge manga reader, because the manga readers WHINE WAY TOO MUCH and have to RUIN every adapted anime for the ANIME ONLY WATCHERS!

I really enjoyed this first episode. I didn't mind the CGI nearly as much as I thought I would, my only peeve is when Zouroku stopped the car and the background out the window kept moving... That's not even a quality issue just a terrible studio oversight. Hopefully that's not consistent with this series. I especially like the interactions between Sana and Zouroku, I already really enjoy their interactions throughout the episode.

I liked it a lot but no idea where it might go. CGI was kinda terrible but not something that turns me off that badly.

I was about ten minutes in when I noticed it was a double length 1st episode. I enjoyed the first episode quite a lot.

It had good pacing but yeah that scene when the car stopped was sort of awkward when I watched it.

I like Sana's character design. Old man Zouroku teaching them kids proper manners.

The artstyle is ok, reminds of the good ol' J.C. Staff. The cgi and fight scenes were decent at best because the cg seems out of place and the audio in the first part was sort of low quality(maybe I'm just judging the rain too much).

The scenes with Zouroku and Sana are just pleasing to the eyes especially the scene with the flowers.

ED was good, gave me a Disney vibe.

The plot isn't incredibly new but it's the execution that counts. Hoping to see more next week.

Yeah, it looks interesting.
Visual side is hard to rate. Slow paced scenes looks decent, characters looks decent, but action scenes, vehicles and generally high-movmement scenes looks awful, cheap and 'plastic' due shitty 3DCG. Even still frames for showing the bride etc would be a much better idea that using a 3D objects.
I hope that it was only a problem of 1st episode (40 min episode is pretty budget-draining). It was almost unwatchable.

Really good start, totally wasn't expecting it to be 44 minutes.

Love the character dynamic so far, the innocent girl and the righteous old man. Can't wait to see how their relationship grows. I also love how Zouroku keeps admonishing Sana to try and correct her behavior. xD

I actually thought this was gonna be a Slice of Life series but there's some surprisingly interesting fantasy elements going on here and I'm really looking forward to see how they are gonna mesh this and possibly some SoL stuff together.

The CG was definitely very weird and felt like something out of a 15 year old racing game. xD

The scene with Sana looking at the flowers was very sweet.
Pretty much everything @Tokoya said is my impression so far as well. xD

Well that was... kind of lukewarm. Not really won over by it yet

The first half of the episode at least was really boring. Almost no proper introduction to the characters at all until like 15 minutes into it. The second half was better but still pretty average

At least the girl was pretty cute though

CGI looks nasty, but it's a forgivable mistake.. or not. The story is interesting, i believe in J.C.Staff. The soundtrack is also very good.
Every mystery novel I ever read, the great detective was such an arrogant fuck you could replace 70% of his dialogue with 'Are you stupid?' and the conversation would still make sense.

That was a pretty interesting first episode! The extra duration was well used to present the setting of the story, although I'm still not sure which direction will it go from here tbh.

Like other people mentioned, damn the CGI was everywhere and it didn't exactly look appealing, I understand that it had a driving scene and everything just can't be drawn, but it was still off putting, the art style is pretty nice tho (Am I the only one that inmediately thought of Madoka with the faces? They look so similar).

Overall I'm satisfied with the first episode, let's see how it goes from here, I have hopes that this one will be a pleasant surprise.

Never expected the first episode to be 44 minutes. This a good episode, except for the awful CG. It's distracting. The action was okay. Zoroku and Sana have good chemistry. He put the girls in their place. He's so cool. It's interesting he's a florist. The shot where Sana walked into the room full of flowers was pretty. This is looking to be a good show.

This is the first time I have heard about this series and I quickly researched it up.
I have not read the manga as it’s not available in English as of this time but interestingly enough it’s coming out on August 7th in the UK

Like most series I go in without reading much of the synopsis so I had no idea what I was getting my self into. Obviously I knew the studio behind it was JC Staff and that the director of the series Katsushi Sakurabi has worked on some series that I have enjoyed, even if it was just directing some episodes or storyboarding.

Just to point out that the first episode is 44 minutes long not that it matters but when I was watching it I felt that the episode was longer than it should be.
The first 10 minutes had a lot of action but I was slightly confused what was going on. When we got introduced to Zouroku, this is where I started to enjoy the flow of the episode and meeting that mysterious girl.

Animation to me was all right; it reminded me of the style of other series that I have watched. I’m not the biggest fan but I don’t dislike it. The CGI on the other hand during the car chase seen was sticking out like a sore thumb, unlike Attack on Titan S2 first episode. Now I personally don’t have the problem but I know majority of the people will probably complain on the CGI that was used.

The music used in the series was forgettable, nothing I can remember after the episode finish. Obviously this may change later on in the series.

I did enjoy this first episode but I can’t say for sure if I will continue this series until I see what episode 2 has in store. But overall it was an interesting watch and I would recommend giving the first episode a watch if you are in to Adventure, Mystery and Seinen.

Hmmm, not a bad start. the music was good and i can see some chemistry between the leads which is good and can grow more in the future episodes.

As for the whole episode, i think the second half was better.

I don't know what to think about their powers and all the chasing ... yet.

well it sure was surprising that the first episode was 45 min long. the beginning of the show was somewhat interesting, but became less so about 2/4 of the way through. there's use of CGI for the cars and also sometimes for the buildings(bit questionable), but didn't care for it. the animation and the background art for the most part are decent. the character designs leave a bit more to be desired, and just end up feeling bland. the soundtrack was good in the begging, but not so much in the end. the show seems to be a lack of emotion when it comes to the characters and the story, and it just comes of as bland and boring. i won't be following this one, but i'll probably watch it when it's over.
