Each serial code for the event is limited to one per person, so buying multiple copies for that reason is a waste of money. Giving them to your friends also won't improve your own chances as when you pay for the ticket, it is attached to the winner of the lottery. They check your ID at the venue, so if your friend wins, then only they can attend. They implemented this sort of thing in 2014 to give all fans a better chance of winning a place at the live concerts rather than a few rich fans securing all tickets and reselling them online. I'm not sure if other anime like UtaPri or Symphogear have implemented this sort of policy for the serial codes or not. FlameWingman21 said: Seriously what's up with Love Live? I'm a fan of Rakudai, but whether or not a Season 2 happens means nothing to me, I'll just watch something else, so I can tell you there's no bias in what I'm about to say. There was no "vague info" of it being out of stock. I double-checked myself when people were claiming it, and they were correct. Rakudai vol.1 sold out day 1 (Thursday) on every major online retailer that was selling it, from Amazon to CDJapan. It restocked the following week. This meant that the first "week" of sales for Rakudai based on Oricon data was, effectively, a single day and stocking of sales which added up to ~3400 discs pushed from pre-orders. There were also a few conclusive reports of it selling out at store fronts. The fact that in the weeks since a restock, the Oricon number hasn't budged from its day 1 sales indicates that Oricon doesn't have enough information to provide an accurate up-to-date number for the series. Considering it is in the top 10 based on a single day of sales, based on its ratings on MAL and popularity in Japan and LN sales, any reasonable person would conclude that it has probably sold more than that 3.4k disc sales and that the Oricon numbers are inaccurate. That's also why the Oricon numbers themselves are listed as "preliminary" fall numbers, because they don't have the full picture yet. Based on this, I almost guarantee that Rakudai has sold more than 3.5k discs. How much more? I don't know, but if it reached 4k it wouldn't surprise me. It also wouldn't really surprise me if it didn't, but the fact remains that the data Oricon provides isn't nearly 100% accurate and in this case it is painting a very incomplete picture. |

The other n-1 million are inactive or "re-rolls" where people keep starting up new accounts hoping to get a lucky Ultra Rare card of their favorite girl and/or selling those accounts to people. But with nearly 3 billion in tickets sales I'm pretty sure more people saw the movie than play the game. Not sure how many people watched the movie over and over again to get all the bonuses (some people watched it 20 or more times) but I still think it must be in the millions. That a quarter of a million people who saw the movie, who play the game, who watched the TV anime, who buy the CDs, who go to the concerts... that a quarter million of all those fans bought the Bluray is not difficult to believe. However, while the concert lottery ticket is one use only so not good to buy multiple copies, there were 4 special versions sold: one with a box for both TV seasons and the movie and 3 additional versions with tapestries of the sub-units (in addition to the regular edition). I personally know many friends in Japan who bought 4 copies of the movie to get the box and all 3 tapestries. I'm not sure how much of a percentage would go to such lengths but... some did for sure. But bonuses are what sales are all about these days. It is a shorter list to write down the anime in this week's list above with no bonuses than those with bonuses. Just savvy packaging and marketing. |

It's not going to be adding 5K a week anymore though and is finally starting to slow down in it's 5th week (by Love Live standards) but could still potentially get there by years end. As of now it's past the first Macross Frontier movie (Also by Bandai Visual coincidentally), but would need to add another 24K or so to pass the second one. In terms of standalone anime movies with no game tie-in package no other anime movie has done better on Blu-Ray at this point. To put it in perspective it had 20K more sales in it's first week than the Madoka Rebellion movie had by the time it stopped charting period BD/DVD combined and is now even above Unicorn Volume 7 for Bandai Visual which was the best selling anime package for 2014. Actually I didn't realize it myself as others probably didn't because of their curiously low profile in the west, but since the decade has started Bandai/Sunrise has only missed having the best selling domestically originated anime BD/DVD package in Japan all of once in 2013 when the 3rd Evangelion movie came out on account of Gundam, Macross, Love Live and a few other things that seem to sell really well and they have a reasonable chance of doing it again in 2016 depending on what they choose to go with package wise for Love Live Sunshine and Macross Frontier and how well Kizumonogatari manages to do on disc. |
