Lots of Overlord, as usual. Glad to see Okobore Hime to Entaku no Kishi on the list though. This series needs more recognition.

Not surprised by the still-overwhelming presence of Overlord.

So what LN got the largest anime boost this year, Danmachi or Overlord?
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

16. *6,472 **6,472 World Teacher Vol.1

That sounds really interesting to me. Would like to read it some day, hope someone picks it up.

Eromanga sensei still going strong, anime announcement in the future I hope. Nourin getting much better sales this week, happy about that.

45. *5,210 **5,210 Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Vol.9

Expecting/hoping for a big boost when the anime starts airing. Counting down the days.

I don't understand why this is listed in the LN section. Most of it is illustrations and drafts for the anime.

Yeah I think it's going to be even higher in the upcomming week and with the end of the anime. The Blurays are expected to sell well too.

Hope this makes Maruyama consider taking a break from his/her office work despite getting promoted(the boss must be an Overlord fan) and churn out more volumes.

Danmachi, in absolute terms.

Danmachi had higher sales to start with so the boost gap isn't as big as it seems.
And overlord is not done with it's boost either.

Yes Danmachi.

Ainz sama banzai!
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

They were released early on September 18 at some other retailers. The 2ch light novel thread highlights these cases for every single week, so it is definitely much more informative than the MAL thread. 2ch thread actually inserts the additional data such as the last week rank, actual release date and days since release on top of the available Oricon data.

Example

Rank / Last week rank / Weeks charted / Weekly sales / Cumulative sales / Release Date / Days since release / Title

Lol I'm not hating on it. I meant it should be listed in the manga section since most of it is the draft and the ending art illustration of season

Yeah I know, that's why I said "in absolute terms." If we have to look at it from a relative stance:

Right before the anime:
Danmachi vol. 1: 83,086
Overlord vol. 1: 36,725

After 11 weeks:
Danmachi vol. 1: 182,894
Overlord vol. 1: 120,376

Danmachi incread by 120% (+99,808) while Overlord increased by 228% (+83,651) and it seems like Overlord will still be on the list this week and the week after while Danmachi totally left the list after this number of weeks.

Why do you even bring up these two studios? Neither Toei nor Madhouse were involved in the production of Tokyo Ghoul.

It's a Pierrot show.

I'm glad these are selling really well, now if only Overlord would come out here I'd be happy to buy it all up as I am doing with everything else.
Cool to see SAO selling a crap ton, wonder when we will hear news about season 3 of that..

Damn Rokka is so low, come on..This is such a good anime

How long before all LN's are about normal boy meets elite chick at a battle academy setting or dungeon crawling swords and sorcery with vague RPG elements or are we pretty much there already?

It's the exact same reason for why stuff like one piece/bleach and others stuff like that usually sells more than most other stuff in the manga section. So the answer is "never". The highest selling books are supporting the industry and allow more "niche" novels to be published.

Given that we're almost certainly talking <10% of light novels between those two things...

...and one glance at the rankings would show that the vast majority of things on there don't conform to either of those either...

...why are you even asking?

How long before all LN's are about normal boy meets elite chick at a battle academy setting or dungeon crawling swords and sorcery with vague RPG elements or are we pretty much there already?

The series overlord you see on the list is just one light novel. You can't add them up, it is one light novel not more, hope you learn from that mistake^^

Many of the translated LN and WN right now have either reincarnation setting or sent to a game world setting. Well it's most likely because most of the translator like those kind of thing.
