That was moody again.

Nagato is doing better imo and is even seeing doctor. Really nice to see Asakura showing support for her friend though. I think Nagato is very lucky to have a friend like that. Not bad for another refreshing episode. Not much comedy in this one either except for some Asakura and Kyon moments again.

Yuki's thought. She has Yuki-chan's thoughts. Friend girl is understandable after talking out. Then truth revealing to main guy.

They were worried, but she was fine. This Yuki is actually better at explaining than the shy Yuki-chan.

Finally, the new Nagato is going to a public library with Kyon.
Surely, where else would it be possible other than library for their date?

But, to be honest, I am anxious to know the outcome because the library was very important place for the primary Nagato. If she finds some books and remembers something when she used to be a bibliophile humanoid interface -- not a human until the day when she reconstructed the entire world to make herself to be just an ordinary human girl, what would happen?

It could have been good but god it was so sloooow especially with the "recap" at the start.

I loved the scoring for this episode. The music is definitely a solid plus. Still don't really care for the OP or ED though.

Another great episode. I also love how they recapped the last one from Yuki's perspective. I wonder how many episodes this will go on for. Considering how long this lasted in the manga though, probably five at the most

There's only 5 left in the show and then the OVA.

Nagato was too cute for words when she was eating the toast! X3

The episode kept its dark mood from last week, although some good comedy moments sprung up in the latter half.

Looking forward to seeing the two of them in the library again, since it's an important part of Nagato's memory after all.

I miss the old Yuki, but I am OK with this. It's interesting seeing how main-timeline Yuki, deals with integrating alternate-timeline Yuki into herself.

It was a really good episode but I wonder how long this arc will last. They covered volume 1 in just 2 episodes but this arc (volume 4 of the manga) seems like it'll end up taking a good 4-5 episodes.

Again, half expecting they would change the OP in this episode. The current one is too cheerful for the tone in this episode.

Decent one, like in the previous episode they kinda made it more dramatic than it was in the manga, but I don't really mind.
That Asakura reference though.... XD

5 episodes left. With this pace, think they would finish this arc in the next 5 episodes, with the last one as the closure of the season.

I'm really enjoying the new music. It's slow, relaxing, and has a bit of mysterious to it. Reminds me of the OST from Halo 3 ODST

While the episode felt slow paced, a bit depressive, it had it's funny moments. Like, Nagato eating bread, and Asakaura being Asakura, "I might have to stab you in the back".

In my opinion, the recap felt a bit too long. Other than that it was a rather enjoyable episode.

Agree with alcrowry, these last 2 episodes feel a bit mysterious and have a sad vibe. The current OP is too cheerful, one would expect a new OP so it would fit the mood of the arc.

Haha. I thought that was a nice nod to the movie, and they chose a good time to use it as well.

On a different note, it's interesting to note that this version of Nagato actually does feel some emotions, despite the fact that the original-timeline Nagato shouldn't have any.

It still had that (nice) atmosphere from last episode. Lovely music once again.

I really hope Nagato won't just wake up one day and be back to her old (alternate universe) self, it seems kind of pointless to have her totally change and then change back like nothing ever happened.

That stabbing line was pretty amusing.

Hm, I don't think that 8 minute long flashback with reused fotage was needed but at least we got whole situation rom Yuki's POV (kinda reminded me of Endless Eigth for some reason).

It's very strange that rest of the cast is missing... this almost seems like a dream world. Asakura's dream to be more specific.. because she is almost always in the centre of events here and she feels the greatest loss of them all. I just remebered her fantasies about Kyon and Yuki during onsen visit and it came to me that she may be dreaming again.

And I have a strange feeling that present Yuki can fall for Kyon too as she has no problem to say what she wants now. But that's where the problem will be after previous Nagato would want to come back, denying current Yuki feels. And what if Kyon likes current Nagato better?

Also, I really liked the soundrack. Anyone can tell what is the name of track playing from 12:20 onwards?

Another moody episode! I loved it!

Glad to know Nagato has such great friends! Also funny how this episode showed us only Nagato, Asakura and Kyon (aside from minor roles such as Mori, Taniguchi and Kunikida). I believe, after all, Asakura and Kyon are Nagato's best friends indeed.

Didn't anyone find this kinda disturbing, though? xD

So far these last 2 episodes have been really good. Impressive score and direction. The aesthetics are very pleasing and I like the slow, melancholic tone. They still don't make me forgive the 9 episodes preceding them but I might consider it if the whole arc stays this good.

I have to say that after Haruhi left the picture this anime became 10x better. I enjoyed this episode the most so far. Main-timeline Yuuki is trying hard to be the alternate-timeline Yuuki but I find it amusing that despite her lack of emotions she's "doing better" at life than Disappearance!Yuuki. She got a date with Kyon, she's great at class and all in all more approachable. Though, I wonder how this whole thing will be settled. It doesn't seem like they're going to use a Haruhi-type Deus ex Machina but at the same time they really need one.

Man, that has become kinda creepy. And I like it.
Seriously, everything is tense as fuck, even the music.

Asakura is hilariously self-aware. ''I might just stab you...''
Oh, Asakura...

By the way... Where is Haruhi? I bet she would be super amazed by Yuki transformation.

actually, I like this nagato (which is closer to the original haruhiverse nagato) better than the yukiverse nagato.
Funnily enough, I like the yukiverse haruhi better than the Haruhiverse one XD

Also, when Asakura asked her who she was, I half expected her to start her introduction infodump from the haruhiverse

Asakura : once that confidence exceeds a certain level, something terrible will happen
Kyon : Seriously? What will happen?
Asakura : You know, just like what some young people do these days, I might suddenly stab you from behind.

such a reference xD

I honestly hoped for something better. It was nice to see the show with yukis eyes. But I dont feel comfortable with the idea of a completely emotionless yuki. Thats not what I wanted or expected after the last episode :/
Its just a spin off afterall, so im OK. But I really think she will "discover" her emotions again.

Finally caught up after marathoning this series yesterday. Glad I gave this a chance despite it being a spinoff and having alt versions of the characters.

Haruhi is a massive improvement from her main series self, the look, positive attitude, and minus Asahina abuse.

Naga-mon is cute. Not sure what to think of this current hybrid Nagato though. I don't ever remember the real her having emotions like embarrassment, or fear of being ostracized.
The direction of this latter part of the series might give viewers a misleading opinion of the main series Nagato, who actually always had a sense of purpose and was not necessarily broody or despondent.

If nothing else, the background music while the storytelling shifted to Yuki's perspective was lovely. This Yuki Nagato seems quite a bit more acceptable than the usual version.

Also interesting is this episode, quite satisfactory explanation given to us to convince us of the change in Nagato after the accident. Even so, his character remains pleasant and with Kyon and Asakura can carry the story without problems. A little bit like quality designs, Satelight committed a bit.
Funny certain contexts during the narration.

Of course, this below, it is one of them. XD
