| Smokes Rohan is right. ODA has not detailed any info regarding that scene. this is an episode 52 discussion. Lots of new people are just starting to get into one piece, my self included try no to spoil those details for those who are currently watching. Or at least put spoiler tags. | I almost clicked those lol, bad idea this is my first time around, but really i could even tell that whoever that dude was at the end was controlling it, the fact the he said "wind blow" kinda gave it away, i like that smile Luffy had right before he almost died, that was epic. On to the next ep to see what happens~ I also find it cool that there was 4 people on that island with devil fruit powers, Luffy, Buggy, Alvida, and Captain Smoker. Weird lol. |

| Buggy definitely deserved that. I mean he stood there for so long just holding a sword up in the air, when a storm is clearly about to come. I guess that's not really why that happened though, I guess this guy at the end of the episode was responsible... |

| This is my favorite episode so far. All of it was perfection, from the inexplicable, borderline supernatural change in weather, to Luffy's reaction to death, to the figure walking in the rain. It's a bit hard to feel out the weight and meaning of everything that just happened, but it's exciting. Luffy's reaction to death was very very interesting. He proclaimed his rise at his end, and the only other thing he had left to utter was an apology to his crew- with a smile on his face. It makes me heavily question Luffy's internals, what sort of guy he really is, despite how much we've seen of him. "You ever seen a pirate that smiles at the execution platform?" "At his own execution, the Pirate King Gold Roger, smiled the very same way." The lump in Smoker's throat, the seemingly supernatural weather, Luffy's still-unabashed nonchalant attitude, it all conveyed a degree of graveness unparallelled in the series so far. On this rare occasion, Luffy is portrayed as something dangerous, a person to be feared and respected. "Hey, you believe in God?" An applicable, if humorous question given the context. The tower that fell the Pirate King has fell itself. I wonder if there's some meaning behind that. Surely enough, rubber is good at collecting static electricity, and the execution platform was practically a giant lightning rod, but that still doesn't explain the radical change in weather that suited the Straw Hat's situation perfectly, from the rain that ruined the marines' weapons to the perfect wind for fleeing, and to top off the mystery, there's the man calling for the "storm of destiny". ... Welcome to One Piece. |

| I loved this episode. What people think is filler was actually building to this. If you have just straight out battles in every episode then there's no dynamics. Its what makes this episode that much more exciting. What happens to Luffy seems to come out of left field, I'm sure no one was expecting that. It's nice to see an episode or two where everyone is just being themselves. So when an episode like this comes along it's much more dramatic (οΎοΎ0οΎ)οΎ~. π It's like a long piece of music. If it's just the same tempo it gets boring. Even if it's really fast the whole way through. Some EDM fans may disagree (^_β)β . But even EDM has The DROP! (β§οΌβ¦) The last episode was the bridge. This was the π§ drop. The next should be pretty crazy. |

| I'm not quite sure what exactly happened when Buggy was about to chop off Luffy's head. So Alvida lost all that weight just by eating magical fruit? Nice! We could use such fruits IRL. |

| Lel I totally didn't see her being Alvida! And yeah I disagree with the previous episodes being filler; if you skip them you wouldn't know how Buggy got his body back and how he's in cahoots with Alvida. Interested to know who that guy at the end there was! |

| I can't help but laugh when Luffy laughs- his stupidity is kinda infectious and endearing. Best reaction was from Sanji tho when he was all like "do you believe in god?" Was also pretty surprised that Alvida wanted to seduce Luffy and not well, kill him XD |

| I've gotten used to the op to the point where I think it's half good, half bad. I had thought that the hot chick might've been Alvida, but I wasn't sure at all, to think that she got like that by eating a Devil Fruit xD |

| A friend made me look back at an old picture of Alvida and I recognized her hat and club making the connection before the reveal. At first I was a bit upset, but it made it that much more satisfying to have noticed it before. I was wondering how she would have lost that much weight but eating a devil fruit makes sense. It's also pretty funny that she doesn't think of herself as anymore beautiful now despite not having to force people to tell her she's the most beautiful anymore. This episode was intense. I have a complaint about how every arc has a build up to a showdown with every party in it, but I'll mention that after. I loved how Luffy hadn't realized he was the one being executed at first, and then proceeded to lazily tell Buggy to save him. I also loved how he accepted his death, almost as if he's accepting this is how things have turned out and what better place to die than the execution platform of the king of pirates himself... "Zoro, Sanji, Nami, Usopp... Sorry, I'm dead" while smiling, what a chilling way to go. I love Luffy. <3 The whole god's favor saving him was weirdly fantastic as well, and the way the episode ended it seems it'll be explained. I absolutely loved how Zoro asked Sanji if he believed in god, and how Smoker was also visibly shaken up questioning if a god wants him to live... The reactions were great, not to forget Luffy's of immediately getting up and putting his almost guaranteed death behind him stating "Lucky!". My complaint about the showdowns is, thinking back to it this has been the case for Buggy's arc, and Khaladore's arc, and Arlongs arc, and now this arc. It hasn't lost it's effect necessarily yet, but it's just my complaint about OP sticking to strictly following formula's again. The showdowns even generally include what I've said before, one major fight for Luffy(probably smoker in this case), a convenient swords man(cabaji), a fight for Sanji(maybe beast tamer?), and a fight to prove Usopp's manliness. I'm not sure how Alvida will fit in, with her devil fruit power I also assume Luffy will fight her too. The problem with this, is if this is how every arc ends it will get stale and lose a lot of it's intensity. Last time I voiced a complaint about this it changed with the Arlong arc, so maybe it'll do the same here. |
| Luffy didn't even try to escape from the stocks and accepted his death then and there with a smile exactly like how the Pirate King does it. I guess that he knew that if he actually died there before even beginning his real journey, he wouldn't be worthy of attaining the One Piece. Dying exactly where the most infamously famous pirate in the world with very similar circumstances is definitely a badass way to go so there's that. He ended up looking like the luckiest man in the world with that lightning strike hitting Buggy at the last second. The world wants him to go on and have fun and it made sure of that. Alvida being the sexy smooth lady all along was the most surprising part of the episode for me. Like wtf kek |

| You can see who someone really is just before he/she dies. And Luffy's reaction and words were truly touching. I don't believe it was just a lightning that struck by chance. It was just that Luffy wasn't meant to die in that place. It was fate, not luck, at least that's how I interpreted the scene trying to think like a Japanese would. |
| Maybe I am easily pleased.. but I thought Buggy getting struck by lightening was hilarious. Loved the atmosphere of the whole episode. This show is legendary already. |
| So Luffy is watching the scene that King Gol D. Roger saw before his death. However he saw it too realistically. Buggy just tricked him. Luffy was almost dead. But in his last moment he was smiling like always. Like Gol D. Roger. Thanks to the thunder Captain Luffy is safe now. Is it that creepy man who did this??? I was shocked to know this mysterious woman is Alvida. I was sure then that old hag ate devil fruit to become like this and I was correct. Totally awkward power she still got captured. |

| WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK Alvida-sama is the super-hot mystery pirate. I knew that club looked familiar. Idk if I'm surprised or disgusted. I don't think I've ever seen such a mind-boggling glow up. Not to mention she managed to change her body 'size' somehow. Wasn't she like 8-10 ft tall? Now she's like 6ft I guess? I don't think the devil fruit was the only thing that improved her looks. She definitely put in some work. Buggy has a new facial look. It looks better. Luffy was saved by the lightning bolt that struck Buggy. Another mysterious guy shows up. |

I guess her big size made all her proportions look humongous. Also, isn't her devil fruit power way too strong? Nothing will ever wound her lol. It's just like Smoker's powers. Nothing hurts them. |
