| This episode was great, where they shown the past of shanks and how buggy knew him. That tells you right there that buggy is an important character in the series. |

| it was okay, the guy on the unicycle just looked silly, couldn't really take him seriously. buggys crew was funny, and zorro too. nice memories of shanks, cant wait to see him again. |

| ok i'll put as a goal to comment on all the episodes of One Piece until I catch up with the current one. :P it's gonna be a marathon x) this episode was nice cause it showed a more sensitive side of Luffy! *.* but i hope Luffy will kick that Buggy's ass next episode!! |

It's crazy how my tune has completely changed 500 episodes later. As I've said before, I don't regret in the slightest watching this series. Easily one of the best anime I've seen, easily. |

| This show is pretty much an alternate telling of fairy tail...well maybe other way around. Shanks reminds me of Gildarts. |

| The main thing I like about this episode is how easily Luffy's hat is damaged. It's not just a plot-protected untouchable object. Buggy, who poses only a small threat to Luffy himself, is able to malign Luffy's hat quite easily. That combined with the hat's special status for Luffy made the fight much more interesting than it would have been otherwise imo. I'll talk about Buggy more in the next thread. |
| I loved the first three episodes, but this Buggy arc really isn't doing much for me... So far, It's a bunch of typical shonen fights, dragged out between multiple episodes. The characters are still interesting, but... I hope there aren't many more long fights like this later on in the series. I'd much rather they focus on the adventure aspect instead. |

| I thought the earlier episode Luffy was hit on his head w/ an axe by Morgan, but he had the hat on and it saved him? Now I'm confused, Especially bc in this episode Buggy says that being rubber won't bounce swords off. So, rubber wouldn't save him from the axe earlier, right? If the hat can be destroyed so easily in this ep and rubber won't save Luffy from sharp things, how was he not annihilated by the axe in a previous ep? One thought that was bothering me. |

| Episode 7: Zoro vs Cabaji, even with a wound, Zoro could kick his ass any time :3 Luffy vs. Buggy just like the first fight this one could end with the same result :3 Buggy breaks Luffy's hat, that would mean s*** just got real for Buggy :3 Buggy and Shanks was pirates together on the same ship? interesting! :3 |

| Luffy is intriguing. He seems like a typical Goku clone, just more happy go lucky, but sometimes he's borderline scary. The more I watch the more he differentiates from the likes of Goku. He's carefree sure, but he is incredibly driven. It seems he really learned from Shanks to pick his battles wisely. When someone crosses his beliefs, aka when someone destroys another treasure(the dog), or when one interferes with someones dream like when Buggy attempted to hold down Zoro and play unfairly, he loses it. I'm sure he can identify heavily with both, to Luffy the house the dog was protecting was akin to his straw hat, and Zoro's mission to become the greatest swordsman is again akin to his dream of being the king of pirates. I also only just now realized Nami has a Nyoi-bō, Goku's staff. I know it's from a Japanese myth or something, but with all of the Dragon Ball inspirations and similarities in characters, and tone I hardly think it's a coincidence. During fight scenes the way each attack/dodge makes sense makes it very fun and satisfying. For example the way Luffy jumped to dodge an attack, and to increase his aerial mobility he stretched out and slingshot himself to a pole fits my description. When fights derive to meaningless back and forth without meaning in each movement they lose a lot of value, and weirdly enough I'm getting some good vibes with the fighting in One Piece. | Caraji keeps beating around the bush with his parlor tricks while dealing low blows to Zoro. Thanks to Luffy's help, he was able to finish the trickster off with a clean Oni-kiri before taking a nap. Nami was able to handle herself well and even got Buggy's treasure along with the Grand Line map. Didn't expect Luffy's straw hat to take such a beating in his first real fight against a Devil Fruit user and his happy demeanor was already creepy at times but now that he's pissed off, Buggy's gonna have to prepare for the worst. He seems to have a connection to Shanks too. |

| Damn, how is Zoro even going on with those wounds? Well, he did defeat the acrobat. Also, how was Buggy not dead (or injured) after taking the canon shot head-on in episode 5?? Welp I didn't expect Luffy's straw hat to get destroyed so early on in the series. I wonder what exactly happened between Shanks and Buggy. |
