Another good episode, I just love the OST and style of this show.

The match in this episode really had a tense atmosphere going on. The ping pong movements were fairly fast and I'm just as impressed as China and his coach is. Dat monster. The dragon symbolism was awesome imo. I was rooting for China though despite his feeling of hopelessness. 5/5, loved it.

P.S. It was nice to know a little about China's character. I find that to be appreciable since he's my favorite in the show.

Ah, something to look forward to when I get home from work. This show has such a great look and feel to it, almost unique. Makes Ping Pong seem like an epic battle between the forces of light and darkness, which considering "China's" story seem appropriate.

A good deal of its charm is with how it gets close to being racist, without it being racist. Not to praise racism mind you, but the characters have a bit of an edge and say things that normal people say, not to be mean mind you, but just displaying ignorance or nativity all too typical with people. It's a nice touch of realism that makes the show seem just a touch more real.

Add to that absolutely awesome art direction, and a good touch by the director, and what more could one want.

Good episode.

And man is that OST amazing >.<!! I want it!!

Didn't expect Kazama to be that BA! He owned Kong just as much if not more than Smile :O And Dat Dragon lightning! He truly looked like a monster there. A Titan at that XD

Well at least Smile will have competition and not be totally on another level.

Peco got owned too. Hopefully his character will start developing now.

And DAMN! Who the hell can win against Kaio if their life is like that XD 24/7 TT lol

Felt bad for Kong :( Gotta admit he looked so lame trying to hit back Kazama's balls XD

That dragon though. Good episode. Interested in seeing if Smile actually joins the Kaio team.

The bonuses the members had were something else. Holy shit.

Now I'm really annoyed that Smile lost to Wenge, because it was completely pointless. Wenge lost to Ryuuichi and didn't get into Inter-High anyway! I wouldn't be so frustrated if Wenge won, because that would mean that Tsukimoto's sacrifice at least meant something.

The match between Kazama and China was even better than in the manga. They really managed to show how weak China felt during the game with the Dragon. Plus we get a short filler flashback for him that adds to his character.

The part with Kaio's training facilities was also filler but I guess they wanted to emphasize even more Kazama's personality and wining desire, as well as showing that you need help if you want to be at the top. It was kind of extreme but a good addition.

The pacing is better than expected so far, they adapted 22 chapters - 33 remaining.

Kind of sad that both Peco and Wenge lost but oh well.
The show is pretty good so far, looking forward to the next episode.

Another good episode, wasn't as focused on Smile as much as the others but that's to be expected(what is this like the second time he's quit ping pong). Get to see the identity of the girl who was sneaking around since the last episode, wonder what kind of a personality she has. Eyebrows sure noticed her and Smiles.
The outcomes weren't that surprising but they were needed, I look forward to Peco's future and whatever happens to Kong.

I like the imagery in each match.

Seems like Wenge realized that Smile lost on purpose..

Sakuma's tactics were petty at the start but Peco fell right into them; ultimately resulting his loss.

Kazama was unexpectedly badass; almost seemed too op against other players.

Smile is offered by Kazama to be on his time. Damn, they have quite the facility!

Good episode. Hope Smile vs. Kazama happens soon.

I thought it would serve kind of nice as an eye-opener for Smile because then he would realize that even if he loses on purpose, it doesn't mean others will too. But I guess he didn't (?) really think too much of it, although he was really paying attention the the matches. Random, but I like the way Smile was portrayed in this episode, just the way he was holding his bag (I think that's what it was), it really emphasizes his introverted personality and how he is closed-off.

Also, the intensity of that match between Kazama and Wenge was amazing. It's a little sad that Wenge lost, but I like the way he dealt with his loss, as well as the conversation he had with his coach (or "friend") afterwards. He is only at the starting line in his life :) Which, is a foil to Peco's loss, as he kind of just sits in front of the building, catatonic, and crying. Seems like it's starting to hit him that he can't underestimate people anymore.

Man, Peco how you gonna lose to a freakin lobber. Looper > Lobber.

Anyway that Kazama vs. Wenge match was awesome. Takuan_Soho's point about the show being more realistic due to the characters' own biases, ignorance, etc. which I really liked.
I liked getting some back story on Wenge definitely my favourite character in the show.

An overall killer episode. It's managing to be consistent to the style of the manga while still allowing Yuasa to give it his own flare. He is even giving his own spin onto the symbolism found in the manga.

The music in this episode was brutal and stellar, it goes keeps getting better and better in my opinion.

Dam those Ping Pong matches were intense and awesome. Kazuma is pretty scary with those dragon image, and Kong lost in the process. A little character development for Kong though.

I'm hoping for a match between Smile and Kazuma.

No, no, no. Smile doesn't lose because he thinks there is a point, but rather because Smile sees himself as being a hero and hero's don't defeat the weak. Smile sacrificed nothing when he lost to Wenge, indeed he probably didn't even think about that, indeed the reason why Wenge lost was because he KNEW that Smile gave him the match so winning was pointless. That this happens reflects positively on both characters. Even Kazuma understood this (which is why he is even more keen on getting Smile to his school).

I didn't like this episode as much as the previous two but that's okay seeing as this was still boss. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

I wonder what the importance of that girl is. Does Kong's loss actually meant anything to Smile? You just can't tell with that guy.

every week im loving this show more and more and it's on 4 episodes in. kazama's match was one of the most exciting contests i've seen in a sports anime it gave me a similar feeling to watching a great fight in a shounen like hunter x hunter. not to mention all the great dialogue with the old coach and the old lady and also kong and his coach...just amazing. easy 5/5 episode

Good episode.

Peco needed to lose one time, so he can see that he's not the best there is and that he has to improve himself too. Still sad seeing him crying alone at the end, i thought Smile should at least go home together with him.

Sad to see Kong lose, Kazama really looked like a Titan^^ I guess we won't be seeing Kong around anymore, I actually liked him. It was nice to hear some Mandarin in anime for a change which also made it more realistic.

I'm not sure why Kaio is still regarded as high school lol.

Peco being lost is a good thing, he underestimated his opponents too much. I hope he would improve later.

I wonder if Smile is going to accept the inv or not, since he has quitted the club.

Another great episode overall, glad i picked up this series.

In what world is this 5 frames per second animation with crappy looking art great? Also, around 13:05, Kong's shot clearly hit Kazama's side of the table TWICE, yet Kazama was allowed to return it and score the point. Really unbelievable and egregious error by the animators.

While the 'animation' gives me eye-cancer, I can't but get interested in the story. Lately I've been into sports anime, so there's that, but Ping Pong has something unique to it that draws me in. Once again, eye cancer is almost guaranteed, but hell, it's worth it.

6 hours ago's data( i just quote those>3000 here) :
rank / predicted_pt /accumulated_pt / name
1 / 44658 / 23328 / Love Live
-------------------------------------------------------------------- ← King's line
2 / 11531 / 2643 / Haikyuu
3 / 10919 / 1160 / Mushishi
--------------------------------------------------------------------- ← best seller line
4 / 7063 / 2111 / Mahouka
5 / 5813 / 420 / Ping pong
6 / 5643 / 1280 / Kamigami
--------------------------------------------------------------------- ←necessary for 2nd season line
7 / 4781 / 1528 / Usagi
8 / 4631 / 2052 / Knights of Sidonia
9 / 3931 / 898 / Captain Earth
10 / 3813 / 2401 / Date Alive
11 / 3364 / 1112 / Kenzen Robert
12 / 3097 / 989 / Mekakucity actors
13 / 3075 / 965 / no game no life
------------------------------------------------------------------------ ← Budget line

and here are some explanations and my comments....
1. the beginnings of selling of different animation series are not at the same day...And till now (only?)JoJo has not come to sell ( I guess it could rank in the 2nd place → 20000~ 30000);

2. Love live is a bug wwwwwww → personally I don't like this kind of culture of adoring idols.

3. Some BD/DVDs are sold with special things. For example, the opportunity to get free tickets to some related events ( like voice actors'....parties). These series contain Haikyuu, Captain earth, Kamigami and so on.

4. The predicted pts are just predictions that accumulated until the release day. The nearer to the really release day, the more accurate the prediction will be.

5. As ping pong's release day is 27th Aug. It is really far away =.=!!! And it's being sold as completed box =.=!!!

6.The ranks could change every single day, but it won't change too much day from day....

Peco vs. Akuma and Wenge vs. Kazama made me feel anxious. It was like I was playing the match myself. The dragon symbolism was interesting. I didn't expect Wenge to lose to be honest, but this opens the door for further development to his character
