Don't know but the episode was kinda disappointing because of the sloppy animation.
Other then that it was a good episode.

Oh also did you realize that they left out a certain scene that Haru has at this point?
Yeah, I noticed this on rewatch, it's a real, real shame honestly, I was super looking forward to that part too (though, the episode was so good I forgot for a second) since it's a huge plot point for the series and gives insight on the mystery of where they came from which most people probably would want to see.
But without a S2 that scene wouldn't mean much, though I still think even just anime fans would want to see it and it'd give some incentive to read the novels further.

Even without including the scene in this season (it could always happen next episode) I think they could still manage to include it at the start of the second season and set things straight.
Quite a few things they'd have to start S2 off with to continue the story at this point, the orc invasion, Souma's speech, now this, wouldn't be hard to pull off but still. :P

Really hope next episode does Ranta justice.

So I wasn't the only one. After this episode I'll just trust them. Maybe they will insert it somewhere else where it's an improvement compared to the source material. You're right, these are all points in the story that could happen at the start of a season 2, gives me hopes.

Oh yeah this and what happens afterwards are the two things that have to be adapted perfectly in order to satisfy me :D.

Which illustration, could you share?

The orc invasion and the creation of the daylight breakers could work next season (although the latter would be nice as a hint of the future direction of the series). That Haruhiro flashback could still be added in next episode, it just needs a moment where Haruhiro feels like he is about to die, and could probably take only 30 seconds.

Oh that, I did see it before but thought it was fan made. But yeah, with how this ep ended it should appear next.

I have a bit of hope that Souma group will appear in last episode because the Grimgar Social game does have those 3 unique classes from Souma group when you try to sort by class, even thought there is no characters of those classes so far in the game. But they could just add some original characters with that class, as the game already have many original ones.

The episode is gonna be super packed already, though Souma talking wouldd be a good way to end the season since volume 2's ending is really anti-climatic by itself, judging from the PV though, they'll add some anime original scenes at the end.

Best episode of the series for now. Good amount of drama, action and soundtrack. Ranta was the MVP of the episode, I don't think he would die, but he was really awesome sacrificing himself for the team.

I hope the final battle will be epic.

It brings tears of joy to my eyes to see that the Grimgar community finally sees just how great Ranta is. That Ranta X Yume scene made me laugh considering I thought they were going to become a thing around episode 2 or 3 but this episode was actually pretty good overall. I'm not the biggest Grimgar fan since I don't like Haruhiro but he was actually pretty okay this episode.

The last couple episodes have been top-tier after a sluggish, repetitive, and boring start. Glad to see that sticking with this has paid off. Hope it finishes on a strong note because it is really on the up-swing for a top-3 finish this season.

I love the slow pacing this anime generally takes but i got to admit, speeding it up just a bit really made this episode feel intense. I hear a lot of times when people say that the episode felt like a few minutes and most of the time i think they are just saying that to create hype but this is one of the few times where it actually felt much shorter than it was. At the end with Ranta about to fight the kobolds i actually thought we reached the half way point there forgetting the half way card earlier.

About the episode. It was nnice to see some closer for Mary turning her friends into ash. We get to see a bit more of Ranta finally being less of an ass. Now he is about to risk it all for his friends.

The fights were gorgeous this episode and the music was amazing. The metal rock guitar when they fought Mary's friends was awesome and pumped me up while slowing down into a more depressing bittersweet tone at the end.

The scene where they were doing parkour through the mines was so hype. It was epic and the insert song in the background just made the scene more intense.

Another amazing episode of grimgar. I hope Ranta doesnt die. He can be an ass but he is an important member of the team and they need him. I guess they will end off with the rescue mission. I really hope there is a season 2. If you look at the episode title for next week its something like "See you tomorrow". i hope this is a hint to a season 2 because this anime is amazing and deserves one.

The scene where yume hugs ranta was really funny. I guess she needed some kind of weakness which i thought was really cute. And the scene where ranta looks at yume and she just stares back with a blank expression. That was priceless.
Grimgar season 2 please!!!!

Another solid episode, seeing them go up against her former teammates was great and touching as she laid them to rest. And the second half was intense as they were chased by the death spots, respect for Ranta.

Awesome episode ! The way mary dealt with her undead friends with the help of the team , and the way her friend hugged her back just before turning into ash . The fights were handled well and the music was very good . Ranta did well in this episode, and he showed that he actually cared for haruhiro even though they quarrel most of the times.

The fight in the beginning is what we should have gotten for the series. There was no insert music to drown out the dialogue. We get to see actual team work and strategy and it had a logical flow to it. Everything was contained in that scene. Surprisingly good episode.

Subtitles called him Haru this time and mentioned the undead king instead of "No Life King". Some improvement!

So Ranta decided to safe someone for ones and it's been pretty much his death sentence.
Well we saw it coming after last week makes me wonder if he will survive or not, it should be interesting to see.

Mary managed to save her friends from there curse and she helped them move on.
I wonder what her other former party member would say.

This series really went from slow to just plain lit as hell and I love it. Can we just take a moment and appreciate how good the insert songs were this week? I mean whatever that rock song was that they used made me get into that much more. Man I wanna read the LNs after this finishes airing because it would be sad to see such a good show just go to waste after this epic progression.
Don't believe the hype.

I said Ranta will save the day and he did. He is still annoying though but I think I can live with that now that what he has done!

Mary hugging her ex-teammates goodbye was really heart warming. Mary is still the most beautiful girl in this season and my second favourite of the season after Megumin.

This, along with Shouwa and KonoSuba have been the standalone anime of the season! Too bad only one episode is left. I hope there is a sequel announced just like KonoSuba.

On another note, a very good anime will always have good finale. When I say that the first thing comes to my mind is Boke Dake, in a bad sense.

That was a pretty awesome episode! Mary fighting her old party felt random but I know it's pretty important so alright. I was expecting these last 2 episodes to be a "defeat the final boss" type thing but it doesn't look it will happen so that surprised me, and I'm liking the character development for Ranta. It'd still be cool if someone died but I think I'll be content with how things wrap up either ways.

First half with Mary's conclusion was really nice. Her dream was sweet. She was too cute and beautiful sleeping at the tree at the start of the ep <3

The fight against Mary's old party was awesome. It was cool how our MCs were learning new stuff. And Mary hugging them to dispel them was sad ;_;

The Kobold attack part was insane. Damn This Kobold King is just Savage lol
Ranta was awesome saving Haru and provoking them like that. And he got a hug from Yume too :P

It certainly has plot it's just that it handles it in an unusual way. You have to lock at it in a different light.

Instead of making the general plot of the story clear after the start by showing of main villain x or voicing out MC's wish y we have a plot that develops constantly.

Usually the characters form the basics of the plot and then act according to it. In this show the characters are thrown into the plot the second they got into this world. Now it's them that develop the plot according to their will.

At first it was only simple but brutal surviving because that's what the characters chose to do. Then it was about avenging Manato which also the characters decided. Just recently the plot was to change the hunting grounds and also helping Mary get over her past at the same time. With this episode the plot became to rescue Ranta if he's still alive and get out of there with everyone of them present.

We don't know what the plot is because the characters will form it according to what their goal is and it slowly but steadily becomes bigger and bigger.

So you see it's not that the story has no plot, it's just that develops into something bigger alongside its characters and currently we are still at the beginning.

I feel sooo satisfied at how Mary was handled when she met her dead friends in zombie-form. I expected the cliché
- deluded Mary thinking her friends are alive
- she get attacked when paralyzed by her thought
- Haruhiro save her
but it turned out fine.

Ranta MVP might be the first time he doesn't annoy me (instead Haru criticizing his stupid idea of getting a finishing move was exaggerated)

Nice episode o/

Man, so sad that this anime got only 12 episodes. I think something around 16 would've been perfect, but of course they can't make a random number like that. I was on edge on the second part of this episode, but I felt that the tension was still higher on the LN, which is why is sad that they don't have more episodes to work with. The change of order of events was ok, but I just felt that the fight against Mary's comrades didn't gave the same tension as in the LN where they almost died, and before they could even take a breath Death Spots appeared.
But anyway, still was on the edge of my chair on the chase even knowing that it would happen, so the episode was great haha

Except Yume hugging Ranta, I know what you are trying to do there directors, not cool.

Ranta has pretty much becoming the most exciting thing in the anime for me xD good episode though I really appreciate the pacing in this episode and no like music montage either!!! Though based what I heard heard of from the light novel this is the type of series to have musical montage because its about the daily live of the characters thereès no last boss or demon lord to take down. I talk about it a little more in my youtube channel if youre intrested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL6FmxP4DCA
