TFW you've just finished watching a real' good finale
Overall I am very satisfied with x2, Shou wasn't as good as season 1 but both Ten and Ketsu exceeded my expectations by far

8/10 for this season and ~8/10 for all 3 seasons

Pretty much summed up my exact thoughts.

I think the first season was the better but overall DRRR!! has been a fantastic ride!

So they totally forgot the Celty = Valkyrie angle which they build up from season 1? Like how does that even fit in? The show is full of stuff like that, they introduced a bunch of characters and subplots then promptly forgot they exist. I still have no idea why Kadota joined blue square or who the hell he is besides being a nice guy who has a friend who owns a van.

still kinda confused how the teacher got his powers. Also it seems everything is back to normal with some changes like rapey teacher now being tortured, russian girl wants to come back to live a normal life and talk to shizuo. Though it felt like somethings just ended a bit to fast like ms cat ears just seem to catch the stalker and thats it. The two movie stars kinda went away and so did that little girl. Even izayas sisters kinda took a side line approch. All in all it still was a fun ride.

That was a fun ride from beginning to end, but I don't know how anyone expected Izaya vs Shizou to be a match. Once he got out of the trap, Izaya was screwed. Then again the moment that Celty's head went public, his plans were just on the fly and he wanted to kill Shizuo.

And I'm glad they got the Stalker after that beating he gave Shinra. Kasane probably took out her frustration on the guy.

It was great to watch all Durarara!! episodes, it's one of my favorite franchises ever. People are complaining about the second cour and stuff, complaining about "sub plots that weren't explained" and stuff, but that's about Drrr!!. It's about chaos, multiple histories melting and twining into one big history, and that's it. It's not necessary to detail all the past of all the characters, it's not about having a epic and fantastic ending. Stuff happen, and life continues in Durarara!!, it's like normal life. And I love it. Thanks, Durarara!!

To tell the truth i tolerated Durarara this long because i liked Orihara Izaya. With the series ending i will miss him and i hope he never changes. He reminds me of me and that blondes interference in his fight against shizuo turned my spirits off. And i gave this series 7/10 because of that

Despite the hype this series as a whole was rather disappointing but even more disappointing was the ending. I hate nothing more than endings where everything returns to how it was before the thing even started. What exactly changed here? Nothing. Mikado is going to school with Anri and Kida, Celty is with Shinra, Izaya, even after all the shit he has done is still alive, Shizuo does whatever he was doing before, all extra characters leave the city and Celty doesn't have her head.

All development was completely negated even in such extreme cases as Mikado realising he can't lead a normal life, boom, he is suddenly happy in his normal life because it's reality bullshit. Even the mass murderer gall is let off scot-free.

After all the 4 seasons, everything returns to how it was before within few minutes. That's just bad writing. 6/10 for this season and 7/10 for others.

Finally finished this series. Overall this franchise was great. Very odd but unique. 8/10.

... Although there's a weird feeling left. Because the story is a whole mind fuck with a mixture of characters and conflict that in the end all connect somehow anyway ... but there's still this weird feeling. It is an Ending but ...

It's a very odd story. Heck, I still don't know how to understand Mikaido. He became insane somehow but ... I can't connect the dots of his mentality of how he's become to go that far... I don't get it.

I wouldn't mind an Epilogue.
(Although I'm seeing that there's another sequel next generation with different characters of Durarara? What's that about? Can anyone explain? ... Heck maybe I just have to check the sequel Light Novel and it'll probably give me a good idea)

To my understanding...
Celty doesn't care about her head anymore, regains her memories and stays as the Headless Rider with Shinra, in love. Haruna finally captures her Teacher (since he's also a Saika he'll regenerate, right? So she can keep cutting him?) ... and the trio of friends become friends again. The rest is an open ending of;

The Russian Girl liking Shizuo and hoping they meet again. Izaya probably leaving town forever so Shizuo doesn't kill him. The Dollars are done and The Mafia are keeping check on the young gangs. The Original Saika is doing her own thing, I guess she'll find her own love one day. And the rest are fine and will continue living their lives.

... I still feel like something is missing.
I guess an Epilogue would be nice for sure but I don't mind not having one. It was a great experience of an anime but for some reason it's not really one I'd rewatch. ... It's kinda a great mindfuck that you don't want to go through again. Who knows.

ah man this show had some great ass characters who each had their own personas, motives and plotlines. Cant forget about the way the plot handled itself from revealing moments in the future then explaining them thoroughly from a present perspective andhow they all connected was wonderful to witness and the city ikebukuro was amazing always felt lively this anime 8.5/10 shall always remember love and peace

Okay that Deus ex Celty ending was way too convenient in resolving all the complications. But it was stated the Celty was at the centre of everything so it's not TOO MUCH of an asspull.

I felt that the ending wasn't very conclusive and sort of weak, Takashi just comes in as the final villain out of nowhere - like of all the final bad guys it could have been (Kujiragi, Izaya, or even Mikado) it had to be the pedoteacher who is (arguably) the least copmlex or interesting villain. Seiji remains obsessed with the damn head and unable to properly love Mika (frustratingly). Namie is also obsessed with the head for her brothers sake. Also, Shinra's father remains hilariously sinister. I feel that Celty and the school trio got the most conclusive endings. Meanwhile everyone else returned to basically where they started, which is a result of the show suffering from too many neccesary characters. The ending is by no means bad but it just wasn't meaningful - not conclusive enough for the final episode of the entire series.

Also the Izaya-Shizuo ending really should have involved the entire Vallhalla/Valkyrie mythos. In my mind, I'm just going to headcanon the fact that during the battle Izaya does an internal monologue explaining that this was all part of his plan - he intended to start the war and die by Shizu-chans hands thus him becoming a murderer and having his life ruined (and by extension his brothers) whilst Izaya ascends to heaven by the guide of the Valkyrie known as Celty. But instead, Shizuo more or less returns to being a normal guy and Izaya leaves town without so much as a word between them zzz.

Also, out of pure bias - I hope best girl Varona is expanded on more somehow. Would love to see what happens between her and her father. Also, would love to see the progression of her and Shizu-chans relationship. Perhaps he can reciprocate some of the romantic affection she sent his way. I think he sees her more as a student of his but it's too ambiguous to tell. I need more best girl Varona!!! but I don't know how she's brought into the sequel LN's :[

Okay so, I'm not very happy with the way it ended - the resolution was too convenient and there were far too many characters for each to have a meaningful ending. I have to give this ep a 1/5 unfortunately.

But the ending does not completely sour my taste for this season as I did enjoy the prev episodes. 7/10 (worst of the DRRR!! seasons)

and 8.5/10 for the entire series, even if the ending was not strongest, the jourey was worth.

  • Awww, Vorona is so sweet... she wants to kill Izaya so he doesn't become a "monster." Because she is an assassin, she is used to kill, she will bear that death within her for Shizuo... <3
I know Izaya is one hell of a great character but I enjoyed to see how Shizuo broke his arms, see how he was cornered, defeated, waiting to die.

  • Shinra's words to Celty were flawless! So she remembers (makes sense), otherwise, why would she care about that explosion? why would she care to save Masaomi, Mikado, all the people from Ikebukuro? It's not her job... It was natural to assume that she indeed recovered all her memories and remembered her duties but it also means that she retained her memories as the headless rider.

  • FUCK!! Shinra played his own life to get Celty back!! O_O Altho, Celty's face when she saw him flying has funny. Damn, he got Kasane's Saika now... oh god, that I didn'expect. Shinra deserves everything he gets... He has guts.

  • Talking about guts...Mikado... >_<
    Oh god...

  • Got Vorona blushing over Shizuo... ok, that's something. I was expecting less for now, so I'm fine =D

This episode tied up everything, well, almost everything. It ended up being the perfect glue for the second season and I'm really glad on the outcome.
Some things will remain mystery, some others won't. Anri accepted her OWN feelings, and she will be the help Mikado needs to repair his broken self... and of course, his friend Masaomi.

Izaya... he's lucky. It would have been a shame to lose a great evil character like him so It's kind of nice he survived. Altho, it'd be nice if he stayed away for some time.

Celty... I know she kept her memories but upon Shinra's actions she stayed...
I want her to put her head... she's really beautiful. By the way, Shinra still has Saika??? That would launch him to the supernatural department of characters!

Durarara!!... will you surprise me with a third season? I know it's to early to ask but, I can dream about it.
10/10

Loved the Izaya and Shizuo fight until Varona got in the way.

Heavy Object poster.

Celty saved Mikado.

Simon and co. throwing flash bangs.

Loved the Shinra and Celty scene.

DAT STABBING! MIKADO!!!

Seiji still chasing that head.

Ruri almost got Bison'd, but my waifu, Kasane, saved her. I'll miss you, Kasane. *sheds tears*

Varona gon back to the homeland.

Gotta end a Celty scene with another chase.

Got to see Mairu, Akane, and best girl, Kururi one last time.

Takashi deserved all of that and more.

Anri likes Mikado. There is progress.

Anri oppai on point.

Mikado woke up. And that was end.

As a whole, I loved x2. I'll miss Izaya and Shizuo. They were my favorite characters. I'll miss my waifu's, Anri, Kasane, and Kururi. I'll miss the body of Haruna.

Nasujima Takashi Deserved Better
I'm going to write my novel about him and still like him, denounce all trash "canon" with the utmost amount of cackling, because guess what? He. Was. Shorted. Developmentally. Characterization wise. Everything. All in favor of izaya? The most overrated trash in the series. Who somehow got to live. I will simply not stand for it.

I am a girl who has liked this character since I was fifteen. I'm beyond the threshold of giving a shit what y'all think. I do question myself morally, but understand the differentiation between fiction and reality quite accurately, so no mass criticism is needed. He was an actual psychopath with boundless potential who was shorted in favor of pandering garbage.

I can't say it wasn't an satisfying ending but it went down exactly as I expected it too.

I still don't really feel the whole 180 Mikado did, it just didn't feel genuine. Especially when he was all ready to kill Kida as well. Just didn't feel very developed. That I believe is the problem with Durarara, its got this amazing set of characters but too many of them. I feel each of them just didn't get the development they all deserve.

Season 1 was overall the best.
Anyway I am really gonna miss this. It was one quirky, unique and fun ride.

Pretty intense finale, though there's a little too much going on due to the huge cast list. Other than that, pretty cool series overall even though I felt lost most of the time, again, because of the huge cast list.

The show's a solid 8. Mikado living through all of that is pretty BS honestly, and I probably would've gave the show a 9 if someone actually died since it's predictable that everyone would be fine in the end.

I'm actually of the opposide opinion when it comes to character deaths. After Game of thrones and The walking dead it has become an annoying hype in many shows/movies/stories to kill off characters for the sake of ''maturity'' or shock or just because it's popular to do so and I for one am happy to see not all shows feel the need to kill characters just to have a darker edge to them. Durarara deals with a lot of darker things, and prety messed up stuff, perfectly well withoud that. It was great to me that the ending was good. because that shows even after messed up stuff good things can still happen. If any of the importand characters had died I probably would have scored it less for falling into the hype trap or illusion you need character deaths for a good story. You really don't. If you need character death to make an impact of any kind then there is something wrong with your story or your just a lazy writer.
Durara was great in all it's weirdness, but the very best part was the happy ending despite all the sh.t that went down. No cliche deaths just for the sake of more drama/shock.

Durarara has it's own unique way to shock, messed up relationships and people for example. :P It's far more interesting to keep them alive, at least in my opinion.

To each their own though. :)

Should have ended right after the first season.
Its quite astounding just how little actually happened in a series that's 60 episodes (+4 OVA's) : so many completely pointless characters,plot-points that either went nowhere or were forgotten until 20 episodes later, atrocious pacing that only gives the illusion of leading up to something/false flags...

Its no wonder barely anyone outside the die hard fans, care about this series.

Edit Also I want to point out how tame the series got as it went on,which was especially noticeable at the end ,where nobody really died, because you know "we don't want to piss off any fans".Like why did Slon live after Ten? What purpose did Namie serve after she got exposed all the way back halfway in season 1?...

In the first season you had human trafficking,Izaya meticulously driving others to suicide, gangs seriously hurting people (like Saki even if it turned out she was faking )... fairly serious topics that helped build the series up.

While in the third parts continuation there was... Varona's backstory I suppose,Ruri and her stalker guy (which was dumb and unconvincing) 2 subplots that were almost forgotten if not for that quick scene in the very last episode.

I really enjoyed seeing Shinra's and Celty's relationship throughout the show.
Mikado's decent into the extraordinary was quite something aswell.

It did lose a bit of it's vibe after the first season but that's not to say it wasn't enjoyable.

Man that was pretty good, but I would have liked to see some character deaths. Honestly, I wish that Celty didn't save Mikado and that Izaya actually got killed. It tries to be vague about it, but there is a Izaya spinoff series following his recovery and such. Meh, it was a good ride but I wanted more consequences.

When you are waiting for Izaya to kick the bucket for past 3 episodes (all the seasons tbh) but he doesn't :( Well, I knew they aren't going to kill him off...and even though it was said he may not survive, you know he will...bleh. Plus points to Varona though.
When Mikado got stabbed repeatedly,I literally gasped.

Goodbye Durarara!!, you'll be missed dearly. Definitely one of my favorite anime ever, and I doubt I'll find anything like it ever again. Hoping that the sequel LN series will be adapted as an anime someday. Was really shocked when Mikado got stabbed at the end, wasn't sure if he was going to live.

Izaya Vs. Shizuo was the only disappointment in the end, I heard its much better in the light novel because you can see inside Izaya's head and get a better glimpse at his reasoning. At least Shizuo didn't kill him and become a monster like he wanted.

Also interesting that Izaya's fate is left up in the air. Would anyone like to PM spoilers to me about the sequel LN series? Does Izaya live or die? The ending with Mikado, Kida, and Anri gave me a lot of feels.

2010-2016, it was a good run.

*sigh* I'm going to miss watching Durarara. Overall I don't think X2 was as good as the first season and the plot was tricky to follow at times (although the fact that it was a while between the time I watched Shou & Ten probably didn't help). But even so I still loved the series and watching all of the large cast of likeable characters interact with each other. It brings about a warm sense of familiarity and comfort; a series you can easily binge without getting bored. I don't think I'll watch another series quite like it (unless I watch Baccano that is).

Wowza. Finishing DRRR is like driving 100mph and then finding yourself safely in parking without so much as a hair disturbed by the sudden stop. After marathoning this from start to finish in the span of a few days, it feels so surreal to think that this is the end of the road I first set foot on over six years ago.

One of the things I've loved about this series was how it took seemingly disjointed, random stories and connected them through the various urban legends in the hustling, bustling metropolitan atmosphere of Ikebukuro. It could get wacky, it could get intense. It was full of drama and mind boggling antics. But it always rang true and never lost sight of the wonder that made it such a fascinating roller coaster ride. I particularly like how DRRR has always remained relatively lighthearted as it let me keep an open mind to the rich array of character arcs and the happenings surrounding them. I don't think there's a single character I hate. In a way, you could say I love them all.

I think my only disappointment is the lack of real closure in the face of this finale. Considering how much time is spent building us to the drama and crucial moments, I was hoping for a bit more of an epilogue that would let the dust fully settle with satisfaction. Still, I'm quite content with the ending as Mikado trades off what became an ordinary affair of extravagance and finally returned to the most extraordinary and revolutionary thing he could do after everything he went through - a normal everyday life with Kida & Anri. As much as I was hoping to see more dialogue between them about what had happened, I also don't think much else necessarily needed to be said. It seemed like there was a mutual understanding between them and I'm fine with leaving it at that.

Izaya, Izaya, my best boy. Izaya is the only best thing that came out of this series.

Mikado Ryugamine is really the cheap rip off of Lelouch. God, he is such a terrible character. He really thought he could destroy the world and create it a new. Hahaha,,,yikes. This really just was a bunch of teens during puberty doing dumb sh*t thinking they could change the world. Honestly, the worst character cast ever??? This whole plot could have been resolved in S1 if they hadn't been a bunch of whiny, indecisive teenagers.

This series constantly felt like it wanted to be great, but never got to that point. Sigh, was it a waste of time finishing this? Yes. Was it worth it to see Izaya Orihara just leave everything behind? No. Would I ever watch it again? Nah. Very underwhelming. Time could have been spent on another meaningful anime.

Quite a bad written ending tbh, felt rushed and made no sense. How did Izaya escape? How was he even able to keep up with Shizuo in the first place? Why did Mikado try to kill himself? And why the fuck is Celty still together with that lying piece of shit Shinra?

Basically the only characters I was rooting for the whole series was the Kadota gang. Didn't care about the others at all. 5/10

Four years of waiting and Drrr has ended for me took me so long.

So much stuff happened in this finale can't handle all of it, Celty's head got picked up and shipped to chicago, guess that would be better for the head, Seiji still crazy for the head even after the head rejecting her... in a
really harsh way "meaningless love" she said.

Kobayashi in the end didn't really do anything Mikado saved his own neck, still it was unclear how he survived
after getting stabbed 3 times.

no body died well except those in the basement xD, though still there was a lot of more stuff that I wanted

I'm the only one that wanted to see Celty leaving? I never bought the relationship of those two.

Me too. The head remembered Shinra. I am not liking the ending at all. Why the fuck throw away her head? This ain't love its attachment!!
At least the head is preserved.
Izaya should have died by his own hand. I hope he does.
I am happy Mikado learnt his lesson by getting fatally stabbed.

Mikado is underrated in my sight. His purpose doesn't make a sense. Still the top stars is Izaya and Shizuo. Varona should have romance ship with Shizuo really suit. I like the character build every character have their story. Worthable to watch untill this season. Hope more sequel of Ikebukuro party.

good finale. I'll miss the normalcy of this show so much. All the characters are remarkable. 8/10

Well okay so that's the end, concluding up each and everything as much as happily they can. Not like I really complain but still would've preferred if Izaya didn't make it out alive from there.

Also even after having three cours to this second season, it still felt somewhat more episodes should've been there. Anyways though, finally got over with this series which took me exact two months. Now being the generous i'm, will rate it 7/10. And will always prefer that first season over everything. Opening was a total banger btw, which really is one of those redeeming qualities of this series.

DRRR was a fun ride through and through, definitely holds a place as one of my favorites. The ending was very DRRR-esque to me, with various points of tensions culminating in a way that doesn’t take itself too seriously and an overall happy ending :) my main issue with this second season was that there were too many additional characters introduced who we didn’t get to see enough of to really understand the purpose of and the whole Mikado/Dollars plotline made no sense to me. But I loved the Shizaya fight and the Shinra/Celty reunion. 10/10 for personal enjoyment :)

Took Shizuo to sort out the trouble alongside Celty.
So, not everybody paid for what they did. Even the worst one's walked away.
