Somewhat of an interesting character in regards to Shuichi's memories. Honestly, the more they do storytelling about him, the more valuable his character becomes, or at least that's how I feel.

I wish they explored more of that Alien character though. Now only one more episode left...

They already did, some parts were left out of this anime.

But there's one line that got to me in the manga. Was something along the lines of.

The monster that left to keep a promise to his friend. This entire macguffin coin adventure is just an honor in memory of Honako.

I said it at the beginning and I'll say it again. This Anime is f'n great. Ecchi is a little bit there. But It's a really great entertaining plot

Easily the best episode of this anime

I guarantee you the score for this anime would be at like a 7.60+ if it didn't have all of the fanservice ( Which I'm all for, especially Clairs ass ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )

This was so chilling and tragic

I know it was supposed to be a serious revelation moment but Kaito's face when he realized he mistakenly killed the girl he liked was priceless xD I mean, does this guy really go around town strangling girls based on such weak suppositions?

And by the way, you know a character was too pure for this world when even the Alien shows emotions... damn. Poor Honoka indeed.

Overall, very very interesting episode. A lot of details were given so we almost have the full picture about Shuuichi and Elena's past. Hopefully, the final episode will reveal the last piece as for why Shuuichi got his memories erased.

Now regarding Kaito and co., I honestly don't understand his reasons behind killing Honoka... was he trying to convince himself? His logic seems as messed up as his taste in haircuts but I guess he will receive more characterization later on... in another season, perhaps?

Well, that sure is a vast past then. Thought it was mostly covered by now but guess a second season is actually needed at this point.

I think Kaito was just going off his emotions. He thought this Honoka that was posing as Aiko was not the Honoka he knew. As in he saw her as having lost her purity thinking she had killed Aiko out of jealousy and he just wanted this imposter gone because part of him probably felt the "real" Honoka would return if he got rid of the imposter. He had a mental breakdown because of how attached he was to her and her changing into a different person literally, just broke him.

and that she had worth in this world I feel really bad for them and right now I could
give zero shit about Shuuichi.

A rather messed up logic if I'm honest but fitting for this series, I guess. Interesting interpretation.

Gleipnir is an overall so-so shounen story for me, even the manga is so-so but I'd say this backstory was one of my favorite parts in the entire story. It's just so fucked up because of dumb people with their misunderstandings and jumping to conclusions that led to more fuckery in the story.

The apparent motive for suicide was so shallow and just, well, shit but all in all a really nice backstory EP that clicked the show back on track after almost disintegrating in the last few episodes.

Unfortunately there is one episode left, which probably won't be enough to salvage this cour but may bode well for a sequel(not happening)

I love Sakurai so much.

I take back what I said in the earlier episodes. I stuck with it despite the instinct to drop this for it being some kind of anime version of Being John Malkovich. In which the male MC is piloted by the flavor of the week.
Shuichi has the eyes of a killer now. It is honestly understandable. He has noting really to lose and some vague ideals about stopping someone from getting 100 coins because who knows what they will do is flimsy as fuck. As far as driving motivations go.
Extraordinary circumstances causes suicides and simps to garrote people impulsively apparently.

What the fuck did I just watch?! That was so fucked up. Like, I started the episode thinking, "That girl with the twintails is super cute", and then it all happened.

It was already pretty fucked up that Naoto, Elena, and Shuichi wanted to pretend nothing had happened and leave things as they were without even trying to talk to Honoka but then that dumbass of Kaito goes and kills her, again, without even trying to talk to her beyond a few ambiguous questions. Fuck! I feel terrible for both girls.

Like I said, Aiko immediately caught my eye because of how cute she was and that she ended up killing herself because of bullying, when she started suffering from it for defending someone else... it sucks. And then Honoka, who lived and died with the idea that no one would be sad if she disappeared... shit.

That led us to see something interesting and that is that the alien has feelings and actually feels bad for Honoka. There were also other interesting things like the fact that this happened only a few months ago or the completely different attitude Elena had before (it was cute how she hid behind Shuichi).

In the end we also see Claire finding the plush toy in which Shuichi transforms, in the school he supposedly knows nothing about. And of course, Chihiro keeps raising death flags, I wonder what she wants to talk to Elena about.

Willing to let go of Hanako, this is not as expected. Even so, they had no choice, I didn't want to see a girl's cry just this time. At least it is a sweet past memory, how much do you like it, xD.

Is this just a misunderstanding? It's a murder or suicide, oh shit ... Is the effect of bullying that bad? Even though it's not the main cause, it seems Honoka suffered a lot, giving coins for free, look at that expression

the bullying scene was a filler, Aiako reasons still unknowing even in the manga with a lot of other things as the manga still ongoing

edit: the flashback in the manga shows that she was prevent bullying and didn't show anyone bullying her

As I remembered, it does shown in the manga that Aiko was being bullied a lot, because of her sense of justice (that she defended a class mate that being bullied by others), that's I guess, which lead to Aiko had suicide.. This matter might be not a big problem to some of us, but it IS with some children in some country, and afaik Japan has been among the highest number of suicidal case..

I'm glad that this anime didn't change the story line of the original manga, just some scene has different settings, but it doesn't change the whole story line, such as the true appearance of the alien, it was shown entirely in manga but on anime he only showed his 'true' hand..

Looking forward for the final episode! Hope it gets to season 2 (because on manga there should be more stories after this episode, no, i won't give out spoilers)

What a great episode...

Yes you should! the anime adapts 99% of the story line in manga, so you won't be confused between read manga and watch the anime.. Just some scene had different settings but didn't change the story line

It’s a joke that this anime has an average rating of 6.8, this show has an unique plot, interesting characters, amazing fight animations and a fantastic soundtrack. It deserves a score in the low 8’s or at the very least high 7’s.

I feel you, this is the best anime of the season and yet it's massively underrated. So annoying!

Yeah right, while other subpar anime got better rating... Can't understand..

This episode is surprisingly sad. I think if the author had decided to take the anime in this overall direction the tone would have been better overall. The backstory surrounding Shuichi is surprisingly profound. This is the best episode of the entire anime for me. This episode shows the potential this story had but so far is unrealized.

Horrible episode. Too rushed and full of stupid decisions. Like the scene where he just happens to follow Aiko to the alien; the scene where the alien just tells them everything despite earlier showing he was neutral and wouldn't just tell everyone each others' business; and they scene where they all quickly agree to forget that Honoka supposedly killed Aiko and took over her body. This should have been much more dramatic but intsead Kaito is just says "you guys..." and it cuts to next scene.

brilliant episode, blondie's decision may look weird but he was a psychotic maniac, he probably killed her because he loved her, he felt betrayed and wanted her only for him, great twist in the story.
Now elena and her group has to kill blondie who has the coins, let's see where shuichi and clair come into the scenario.

Hmm, such a weird turn of events.

And Kaito, you bloody idiot. Next time try to have a conversation first before you decide to murder someone. Also, murdering people isn't ever an option unless its life or death situation.

Also, despite so much disappearances and murder happening in town/city, the police doesn't seem to care. lol

Well this look into Shuichi past was dark and depressing as hell. Also kaito sure was fast to murder this chick he clearly loved. Maybe he should've gave her more time to explain before killing her. Also I guess the note the real Aiko left was found only after fake Aiko died. I wonder why Shuichi forgot all of this. Its also odd Honoka friends were fine with her disappearing.
