Gin no Saji(8.14)
The show is made by the same mangaka as Fullmetal Alchemist.I think people expected more from this show but it's just a farming anime. It's a very good slice of life and we know that SoLs are turnoff for most people.

I like Gin no Saji well enough and I was initially attracted to begin watching the show by the somewhat novel premise of showing day-to-day life of a young new student in an agricultural college. Agriculture is both interesting and essential and I don't see much content set in that world either in anime or outside of it.

Slice of Life is one of my favorite genres, but we run into a lot of ambiguity in trying to pin down and define it exactly, as some SoL are still a lot heavier in solving a problem of the week and more drama-focused, or can even have psychological, romance, etc. components, and then you have pure iyashikei on the extreme end of the scale (not saying iyashikei is completely synonymous with SoL, but they tend to heavily overlap).

One of the reasons I have the first season of Gin no Saji "only" rated at a 7 and have had the second on hold for a while after getting a few episodes in, is because while I love the premise as stated, I feel like it has a bit of a weak identity. I guess I wanted it served with a heavier dollop of drama and more atmospheric in this way (whether that be coming-of-age-focused, romance-focused, or something else) and barring that, be more of an iyashikei like Aria, Yuru Camp, etc. and actually relaxing and immersive on the pure sensory level. It seems to occupy the middle ground in a way that felt underwhelming and didn't instill a strong thirst in me for the next episode. SoL in many ways is so broad that tonally they can feel extremely dissimilar to one another.

I suppose technically my lowest is the Symphogear G OVAs, which is at 6.88. But those are just cute little comedy shorts, so it's no surprise they're lower-rated. Clearly people just don't appreciate HibiMiku enough, lol.

But for full-length stuff, my 10 that's lowest rated by everyone else is Revue Starlight at 7.67, and I'm not really sure why. It's got great action, cute girls, and enough philosophical depth for anime snobs to enjoy. Why it went so underwatched and underappreciated is beyond me.

Pokemon the Movie 2000: Probably because it is a kids movie and any older audiences won't be as interested

Girls und Panzer: Probably because the show uses a lot of CG (which I think still looks great) which could put off audiences.

Sarazanmai: Probably because the show moves too fast and has a male on male crush, which may put off some audiences.

Kamen no Maid Guy with 7,08.
It was the first anime I was able to marathon. Found it so funny I couldn't stop watching. A true epic by madhouse, often overlooked sadly.

Viper GTS with 7,07.
The very first hentai I could sit through, I was in for the story and not the action.
The designs are very charming, the characters are entertaining and the plot is silly.

What do I think of the general score of these shows? As I keep saying these scores are ALL about exposure and NOT about actual quality. The more normies with zero perspective get roped into watching current "hype" shows, the higher it will climb. The more obscure an anime is, the more realistic the score will be because only those will seek it out who care about the medium and have enough experience to judge. I give 0 shit about what the masses think is good. MAL scores are a joke, and will be forever unless they change the system in a way that it only counts votes by those who watched more than 500 anime.

In light of this, one of the shows is a decently drawn and animated hentai but it doesn't excel in anything. a 7/10 is a realistic score. My own enjoyment and love for sillyness plays a huge part here. What's not to love about a total failure of a succubus getting summoned then gets told to do housework?
Kamen no Maid Guy is an average looking comedy show with very niche humor and not much of a story. Comedy shows in general are a hit or miss, and if you told me this was done by THE madhouse, I'd call bs. I'm suprised the mean score isn't below 7 honestly.

RahXephon has a 7.47 the main reason being that it's boring, no one can understand what is going on on the first view, it's mecha (people hate giant robots), the main dude is boring, the plot is confusing. I don't blame them though.

Charlotte is my lowest rated 10 by the public, and that's because people HATE unsatisfying endings. A lot of people also probably expected it to be as good as Angel Beats (which wasn't my cup of tea personally), but I get it. 7.87, but I enjoyed how it told its story.

FLCL with an 8.06 rating though I don't think it deserves a higher score than that coz it's a quite inaccessible show. Dead Leaves had a lot of similarities with it yet that one's only at 7.25. I assume people really valued Pillows' works on it.

Devilman Crybaby: I think taht the people doesn´t get what the show is trying to convey...

Devilman Crybaby is not an amazing story like Legend of the galactic heroes, it doesn´t have the plot twist of a show like AOT, but that is not the point.

Devilman Crybaby is about social media, about humanity, about fear and abouit stupidity.

Devilman Crybaby does the best social commentary ever, remember what happened to James Gunn? well that is called which hunt, and Devilman show you that but instead of saying this people are racist or this guy is a white supremasist, is this girl is a demon, that guy is a demon.

although having an amazing story is really important, a masterpiece is art, and art needs no story.

I just finished Flip Flappers and loved it! I think some did not like the episodic nature of most of the show and probably wanted it to explain itself. But I loved how creative it was and once they did explain, it all made sense to me.

Out of all my 10's, Aku No Hana (which is my favourite anime of all time) has the second lowest rating. I think a lot of people were put off by the use of roto-scoping in Aku No Hana. Most likely, they thought it didn't look all that good. There are also a lot of people who wanted the series to look as if it did in the Manga.

However, Kanamewo has the lowest rating for any of my 10's. It is really short, being only 5 minutes long. I think this was fully done by 1 person, so some may not of liked the animation not looking as sharp as ones done by a Studio. At the same time, it could be that they also disliked the storyline/absence of dialogue.

For both the series though, I pretty much enjoyed everything about them, thus why they have received a 10 from me

I don't get the "why" part of the question - how could I know?

This certain title (Ouritsu Uchuugun: Honneamise no Tsubasa) is an absolute masterpiece from my point of view - visually and story wise.
I can speculate that people automatically score lower titles from the 80's.
Also the MC is a really unsympathetic and I dare to say stupid person. The whole plot develops in a very slow and unorthodox way (being and alternative history and all). It's one of those titles that makes you think a bit...and anime fans nowadays don't like thinking and trying to understand the fictional world in which the story take place.
They want "the feels". They want simple and highly emotional stuff.

All the five anime I have given 10/10 are scored lower than they deserve if you ask me:

Lupin III: Cagliostro no Shiro - 8.17
Akira - 8.15
Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence - 7.87
Tenshi no Tamago - 7.67
Ouritsu Uchuugun: Honneamise no Tsubasa - 7.59

Thus I don't care about those average scores, even less wonder for a long time why is so. I just care for my own scores and they aren't very accurate and weighed either. Just a reminder what I thought about those anime the last time I watched them.

Some people will probably find 8man annoying(& probably for some, the entire service club).
Also, the tone shift in the 2nd season is also a turnoff for some viewers.

& when you mention 8man, 8man & relatable are inseparable most of the time in the fandom. When in reality, not all truly understand him & don't realize his mindset has flaws.<< & i think that probably affects the rating of the audience in a way or another.

Mine is 3rd season of Uta no Prince-sama it has 7.15 rating on MAL. Even thought they ruined ending with 3D animation, I was pleasantly surprised with the character development. I'm a bit biased towards this series hence the score, since 1st season is still my favorite music anime. But it was big step forward compared the mess in 2nd season (the songs still rocked tho)

Easy answer on my part, because my lowest-rated 10 is Kanamewo (6.77), which most likely has its lower score as most of its peer due to it being a short animation, which are almost always discriminately low-rated in comparison to a typical TV-series.
What accounts for the difference beyond it, not being an overtly long series or a full-length movie that follows the 'generic' pattern of 'what constitutes to a normal anime,' I can't much tell, as it's actually a fairly well-received short, by those who are into them.

Probably because it's very obscure/niche because of it's age, the time it took to get subbed and because of its subject matter being art, paintings, sculptures and the likes. Not many people have seen it and popularity does affect the weighted score on MAL.

But also because it's completely episodic with no main story at all, which is something the average anime fan detests with a passion. It's also relatively low budget and has like 2 or 3 weird episodes with supernatural-ish aspects that don't really fit the show. It's also 37 episodes, which is roughly 24 episodes more than what the average modern anime can fan stomach at once.
I probably regret this post by now.

Basilisk is 7.6 - this anime is of cult level to me, but I can totally get if someone thinks otherwise. Two ninja clans with supernatural abilities fighting each other to death may not be the premise everyone will like. You should though.

ACCA is 7.7 - this one I think should at least be rated 8.5 as it’s perfect in so many ways. Maybe it’s boring for some people? I honestly don’t get it.

Golden Kamuy S1 is 7.79 - just pure wtf? I don’t accept this.

Well, there are simply people who feel the sublime sense of immersion in the Inuyasha-verse and everything it entails, every small character quirk or quip, every nook and cranny and immediately were overwhelmed, overcome, and brought to their knees with a profound intrinsic sense of nostalgia for a show they were only watching for the first time years after its initial heyday....and then there's the rest of the plebs.

I really never had a comparable experience with any media before or since it, and so, I don't feel any hesitation or misgivings about rating it highly likewise. Why was I born as a human being? It's a question the scientists, religious scholars, and philosopher kings have debated in some capacity since the dawn of our age and will likely continue until the end of time. The best I can answer for myself in this life in this moment is that I want to be enabled to think and feel at a high level. That's what inspires passion, love, insight, and when I feel intuitively closer to something greater than and beyond myself. Art can do that, serve as that vehicle and that guide and lift you ever upward. So I will enthusiastically stamp the narrow few who ascend that tightrope with a golden seal of "10" as my humble "thanks" in return.

As an aside, due to a few minor issues, the second film is my least favorite, and incidentally the only Inuyasha title I don't have sitting at 10 (but it's fixed at 9, so don't lynch me). My preference for the films goes: 3 > 1 > 4 > 2

Thank you for saying this because sometimes I think I’m crazy for how obsessed with Inuyasha I am. I honestly cannot think of a show that’s had as great of an impact on me ever (maybe Buffy, but it’s not the same). I can’t exactly put my finger on why necessarily but literally every aspect of that show just clicks for me. I love the action, I find it hilarious, I LOVE the characters, the animation, the villains, just everything.

I think one thing I like that makes it stand out from other shows is that it has all the advantages of a long running show but without the drawbacks. By that I mean it has an overarching plot. It’s not episodic and although it has arcs, they are all encompassed into the main plot. But being a long running show that you really get invested in the characters. People have complained about filler episodes but honestly they’re my favourite part so for me, there were enough of them. I especially love when Inuyasha goes to modern day Japan. He’s so adorable, trying to protect Kagome from volleyballs <3

As for the movies, this is going to sound really stupid but I have been spacing them out because I know they are the last little bit of Inuyasha content that I have. So I haven’t seen the 4th one yet. That’s dumb isn’t it? But of the movies, the 3rd one is definitely my fave (but we’re talking about the difference between a 10 and a 10). I preferred the 2nd one to the 1st but only just. It had more Inuyasha x Kagome romance, the visuals were stun and it wove well into the series plot without affecting it. But I can see why you liked it less, it was fairly convoluted.

So glad that someone else feels the same way about this series I do! Because being scored less than 8 on here feels like some sort of crime against humanity to me ;)

Lowest rated anime that I gave a 10 is Turn A Gundam (7.71). I guess it's mainly because it's kinda obscure entry in an already not-that-popular franchise on MAL. It's also different from other Gundam shows with it's unusual setting and unconventional designs.

It would be the 10th Shin Chan movie, with only a 7,43. All the other Shin Chan movies are from trash to decent at most, but this one is very very different, almost as if a completely different studo and director made it (I don't know if that's the case). The sengoku era war is incredibly well presented, and has some serious and even philosofical subjects, but in spite of all of this, it also has the characteristic Shin Chan humor. I don't know how the manage to combine all of this so perfectly, but they absolutely did it, and because of this reason for me is an undeniable masterpiece.
